Adding context to the games vs Dallas holds a lot of weight. I think health is our only problem. We haven’t seen this team at full health yet and we still have been historic. Once fully healthy we will be the leagues problem. Even more so than what we are now. It’s that simple.
I think Daig would call it a Dallas challenge rather than a problem, and let's cut Dub some slack. The guy has been riding the injury rollercoaster more than anyone this season.
I think Nuggets are not just a threat because of Jokic but because so many of their players can go off in any game, Jamal Murray, AG, MPJ. I expect their bench to get stronger as the year goes on.
And Westbrook is in that group of guys who can go off too, now. They'll definitely be a problem if they stay healthy. My biggest critique with OKC's offseason was, they had 2 holes in their roster and only filled 1. They got another big center, which was good. Hartenstein pickup had been everyrhing you could ask for. But really their biggest issue last year was the lack of a big wing for the 4 spot, a vet who can defend well and bring more reliable scoring in the playoffs. The Giddey trade was probably the perfect time to attach another contract if needed and some picks and go after a Mikal Bridges or Jerami Grant type who can be a stellar 4th option and even a good #2 option when needed for big games or an entire series. The only question mark for OKC right now, imo, is have their guys after Shai developed enough to deliver when the pressure is back on in the playoffs and are they big enough on the wings when it comes to certain matchups like Denver. If Chet can guard the 4 well and they can run 2 bigs without hurting their perimeter defense, that could be enough of a fix by itself. Time will tell.
@J-Hue, I appreciate your comment here. I think they could have gotten another player like those you highlighted, BUT they have a unique system, playing style, and team philosophy. It’s also worth mentioning Grant and Bridges have huge contracts for role players. Sam Presti loves Caruso for many reasons, no doubt; but I think one of the main reasons is his ability to guard bigger players. We all know JDub can scale up, too. I think a lineup with SGA, Dub, Caruso, Holmgren, and Hartenstein is a realistic option when needed. What I love about Thunder team building is that they can be versatile.
@@LD21333 I definitely don't think the Mavs have any mental edge over OKC. But, their roster can be as big a threat as anybody in the west, imo, if they can get in synch with their roster healthy.
Just seeing that the next Dallas game is once again the second half of a back-to-back... Very frustrating that the league lets that occur, even if the first night is a gimme against the lowly Jazz.
MAILBAG: Can you remind me how OKC can keep Brendan Carlson? Sign to another 10 day, give Ajay Mitchell a standard contract, and then move Carlson to a 2 way contract? I know it is premature at this time, but how can they keep him for playoff minutes? Who knows? In scenarios where he isn’t required to cover stretch bigs, it might be valuable to pair him with Chet and/or Hartenstein occasionally.

Agree with Crain on if PWash is what he’s been against OKC and JDub is what he has been against Dallas, then Dallas wins, but I don’t see that and would be absolutely shocked if JDub plays that bad parlayed with the PWash continued all star flash play, I think it’s good OKC finally has some animosity towards him as seen in last game. Get physical with that mid rate player who gets this all star high off us
Definitely not a concern. The only concern we have are nagging injury concerns. But in 1 to 3 weeks, that will be a forgotten memory. Knock on wood. We are just going to have to wait on Ajay Mitchell.
They can win without SGA. Dude you have to realize they had no true big man and missing their 2 top players in that Mavs games. On top of coming off a back to back. Dallas still had PJ, Gafford, Thompson, and Kyrie. But even at a disadvantage OKC made Dallas work for it in the 4th quarter. Most teams aren't going win without their franchise players, you can say that about almost any team.
@@seedking40 SGA is the only true superstar on the team. The other players are good. But they need SGA’s facilitating to excel. Thus why this team struggles early in the second quarter often.
@johnnelson3665 The team struggles in 2nd quarter because they are missing Chet. JDub game is mostly off the ball or in fast break opportunities. Isolation is possible for him to get better at but not needed at the moment.
We have s " still haven't played then at full strength" problem. In a 7 game series, with this team fully healthy, like they had last year, we would wipe the floor with them. We did that in game one. Then they exploited weakness we no longer have. We will be able to match their bigs, they cannot play us 5 on 4(no giddy), we're deeper, and we have just flat out improved, while i don't believe they have. They added Clay and i don't think he will be the different
How about you first wipe the floor with the Mavs without Luka. I mean, without Luka, Lively, Klay, Marshall, Hardy, Exum. How about you start with that?
@VVVY777 you mean like the Mavs beating the thunder without Chet, IHART, Joe, Caruso, Dort, or Mitchell? Y'all all freaking cap! You victory lapping about beating a short handed team! Classic loser syndrome. READ THE COMMENT! I said we haven't played at full strength.
Rylan... you're my guy and I respect your basketball acumen alot. I truly believe the three greatest basketball players that ever lived were Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Wilt Chamberlain. I think anyone 3-10 is interchangeable. Those 3 players would kill in any generation. I'm not trying to debate you because everyone is entitled to their opinion... but why do you think Lebron is the goat?
I have no real problem with either side of this debate. My dad is 62 and makes a very compelling argument for MJ. I think he has a rightfully claim to the goat. I just think it comes down to longevity and my own personal bias of seeing lebron’s entire career not living it through my dads stories or documentaries or highlights. But MJ for sure has the right to be called the goat. There’s some things I see and hear about MJ I’ve never seen anyone do.
You’re so right George, the all time record of the matchup of these teams is soooo relevant to how the two teams match up now how did nobody else catch that
That slow advance of Luka freezes the rotations of the thunder and neutralizes okc defense. But I also think we learn and make adjustments like bringing the double team early. If okc is making shots then it’s all irrelevant. Our biggest problem is our youth and the bench players freeze up.
1) He should be back for the playoffs but there’s a chance he isn’t, 2) the release day clearly shows this was filmed before the injury (Monday) 3) We went through every team in the west 4) we picked the Thunder to make the NBA Finals
