The underrated aspect of the trade deadline I don't hear many talking about is other contenders getting A LOT better during the deadline. A great example is Dallas last season when they added Gafford and Washington (Remember their debut?). Would hate to see a team unexpectedly load up for the playoffs and we end up regretting not doing anything, even if it's a marginal trade for another playmaker or front court depth. Also, I want Chet back as much as anyone else but I'm not convinced it'll happen until we get an update. In that scenario, we definitely need trade deadline action!

Dallas wasn't leading the west when they made the trade. They were 29-21 by the february 2024 trade deadline, and the 8th seed in the West. OKC is 32-6 leading the western conference with the team as it is constructed, and essentially will get Alex, and Chet, and hopefully Ajay a little later as "trade deadline acquisitions" and their free, don't cost team cohesiveness/chemistry or future malleability of the roster. I'm not sure if there's been any team leading a conference whose like i gotta make a team, but our fan base feels that way. I also believe in Ous as a stretch 4 next to Ihart and Chet but I might be a little crazy on that one.

💯 agree on this, teams always get better just cuz you may feel fine now, why live with allowing your late 1 lap lead late in the race minimize to half a lap ? Why not get better along the margins minimally as well? Anything from some knock down shooting like Duncan Robinson, Luke Kennard, to a little more size and defensive versatility like Jonathan Isaac. Must explore making that 9-10th spot better, injuries can and will happen .

Caruso started the year shooting terribly. Then he sat out for a bit with injuries, and came back shooting great. I think he was just injured and couldnt put the same amount of power into his jumps as he was used to, and with how good the team is without him, hes just resting it to 100% and his shooting will be fine once that happens. Obviously i dont actually know anything, but im not worried about Caruso's shooting at all.

Not worried about his shooting but his availability late in the year, I would say I am

Wallace is developing nicely. Tons of talent. IHart is worth his weight is gold as far as the Thunder are concerned. When Chet and Cruz get back, watch out!

    •  2 дні тому

Yeah i still think he can improve much on his drive/control on layups and floaters those things, but his stroke from deep looks smooth textbook form, as of late.

We need to pay attention to the mavs. I think their becoming a scary team as they learn to play without Kyrie and Luka. and when kyrie and luka come back that team could be even more offensively potent. I also agree we don't need a trade. The nets are also driving a hard bargain for Cam. The rumors from hoopshype was prospects, multiple draft picks, and expiring contracts. I think OKC has a great team. I'd rather lose with this fun team with amazing chemistry.
I also think the trade rumors themselves might have been hurting our shooters confidence.
Chet will also help open up lanes for Dub and Shai, and they will kick out to three pointers. Please powers that be, trust in this team. And hands off Topic if nets wanted him they shoulda drafted him. Ajay hopefully will get well soon too.

It is the health of the team at playoff time that counts. Just one player can change everything, and right now we have two of our best out plus Ajay. And next year, Topic and if the Sixers fall apart an excellent pick, and look out for the Jazz improving, and we have 11 up in a significant draft.

I felt before he was drafted Cason is KC Jones, one of the great defensive forces and competitors. Now convinced if Chet is healthy the Thunder win it all.

A trade makes sense, especially if Chet doesn't seem like he can be in pre-injury form. Also if they know they can't keep everyone and need to clear up a bit more space for higher contracts.

I hope all these #1 draft picks coming doesn't tear team chemistry apart. If it means discarding Wiggs, JWill, Kenrich...., to make way for them, our winning identity could be affected.

ya people are acting like we’re in dire need to make a trade like last season and even last season was up in the air with a trade but particularly this yr we are fine if joe wigs and cason can hit there 3s we will be just fine our fanbase has been extremely spoiled since 2023 and we’re getting ahead of ourselves this is what we wanted people a competitive team we made trades already like rylen said “just soak it all in and enjoy” cause at some point we will have to to rebuild again so enjoy it while we have it

Are we just gonna pretend this doesn’t exist ??? Thus far in 2024-25, only the 6-31 Washington Wizards are allowing more second-chance points than the Thunder. Oklahoma City is No. 1 in the NBA in points allowed in the paint.

It's partly an issue of redudancy. On plenty of other teams and elite defender with unreliable offense might be a solid boost. But on OKC, everybody defends so well, that he only helps marginally there.
But when he's in the game it takes minutes and oppprtunities away from better scorers who can get hot and help the team go on runs. Also, most of your wings can put the ball on the floor when needed and help playmake a bit, where Caruso is mostly a nonfactor there.

    • @johnnelson3665
      @johnnelson3665 2 дні тому

@ Joe and Wiggins are almost as good defensively. And much better offensively.

I think it’s naive to say for certainty this team doesn’t need a trade. Can add around the margins, doesn’t have to be Cam Johnson level, but how about Jonathan Isaac ? He’s shooting 27% from deep that’s ouch but if you could get a better version of him for real cheap I’d explore something like that he could play 12-15 min
