His association with Ligonier is really significant, too. What have they said? Timothy requires that sin in leadership be exposed before all. The Calvinist theology has caused so much chaos. I wrestled with it for years. It is very grievous.

The reformed church, (Reformed Baptists) are the most prideful bunch that you will ever meet. Justin Peters reveals this when he claims that even when they are caught in sin, he still proclaims their superiority over the rest of the 'Laodicean' Church. If the Reformed Baptists would be on their knees repenting of their mind-blowing pride, I would begin to think these guys are real. But as of now, I can only hope that they will someday repent of their pride. When they crash and burn, you will always hear a Pseudo-masculine speech wrapped in a Calvinistic word salad sandwich and march off in their pride once again.

I have thought for decades that Christians have a spineless/meaningless definition of repentance. I think relatively few Christians actually repent for their sins, I know there are sins that I HAVE but also those that I really haven't repented of. I agree with you that a key issue is repenting to actual victims, like Lawson's family.

Yeah I'm in the same heart place as Warren would seem to be here. I feel very bad for about Steve Lawson and his family. I don't feel as much for the 700 members. One number I saw suggested it might have been 750 before this happened which would put them somewhere at 1/2 of a percent of their congregants would have been elders. That doesn't sound like it's even close to Jethro's advice. And I have to wonder why only four? Is there something unique about their Church structure that they only need for they've created some new positions that aren't found in the New Testament I can't answer that question? I don't know if there's anything any of us can do for the people going to that church still or for the elders because I don't think they're being honest with themselves and they still want to obfuscate the truth that they are partially responsible for allowing the situation to be created and faster and end the way that it did. Unless they own up to it as Elders I don't know how they overcome it. We might be back here in 5 years and saying what happened to the great Trinity Church that Steve Lawson used to preach at. My main concern about all of this, Warren, is... Can ANY saint in the church have proper restoration after they properly repent before their elders, when... ALL their dirty laundry is openly discussed online in chat forums, and exacerbated (5 syllables) by podcasters? Having an affair even by a pastor is not a crime, persons involved can repent and go through a period of healing. Pastors are not immune to sins they can fail and make mistakes too. Real repentance would mean the contrition which keeps one out of a pastoral position for good. Focus on family and doing the Lord's work in more humble ways. It is egotism and career-mindedness which pushes these guys to try and hold onto their status. "Therefore an overseer must be above reproach..." (1 Timothy 3:1-7)

When a church withholds information like this from their people, they're just exchanging a gossip mill for a rumor mill. In the absence of information, people speculate, and speculation becomes reality for a lot of people. I know it is not conventional wisdom, but I think that withholding information (in the name of protecting privacy or preventing gossip) is worse than over-informing. In my experience, far more damage has been done by trying to cover and hide than by full disclosure and getting the truth disseminated quickly.

Lawson should marry that girl. God never forbade polygamy. He regulated it in Exodus 21:10.
