Some parts are ok, but the main road down to the hotel and pool is very steep, no way you could get up there with just front wheel drive, my wife had to push and she was exhausted by the time we got to the top. I’ve since got the Triride MTW which is two electric rear wheels and adapted so that you can have a 3 x 3, that can cope with the deep hills. I haven’t made a video of that yet, but will do in the next few weeks.

I know crazy decision, seemed like a good idea at the time. Given the choice now I’d have the Merc back, the experience of the drive is important to me.

AP’s have gone up substantially and the choice is EV/SUV, and very little else

At the end of the day it's only you that's on the motability scheme, and all the lower end cars have five seats and a boot , the scheme is there to help you get about. And That's that 👍. If you want extras or a bigger car then you pay the extra money, a five seater car will be fine for most disabled people, and all adaptions are free. So I can't really see your point.

@@Paul-ey1ct I’ve been using the scheme for 30yrs+. All I’m saying is that it wasn’t too long ago when you had your pick of whatever car (virtual) you wanted and the deposits were never more than £100. This past 2 years you can’t touch most good cars for less than £1000, and that’s even cheap in their eyes. As we all are, I am entitled to give my opinion about what I think.

​@orthodoxblue7252 my Mazda 6 was 799 upfront 5 years ago. Just about to switch to Ioniq 6, that was 3500 but went up to 5500 on July 1st, that's too high imo but at least there won't be many about😂

In the UK, if you have a permanent disability you may qualify for Disabled Living Allowance. This financial monthly support payment can be used to pay for a Motabilty car lease. It is a charity that was set up in 1977, They lease company is contacted and leases about 750,000 cars. The cars are 0% vat so 20% cheaper, plus insurance and servicing are included. It’s a wonderful scheme.

Enjoy We collected my wife's first motorbility car in March. A hyundai kona N line s EV. was surprised we could choose any available colour for no extra charge, so metallic red it is. Took 3 weeks from order to delivery, they came and fitted a wall charger free of charge before it arrived. On the day my wife was unwell and they were happy for me to collect it and take an e signature from Tina. Almost seems wrong to be given the keys to a £43'000 car and we only paid a £1'500 excess (dead money, but its our first and I work,so why not). 428 miles in so far and it wonderfull.

I wasn’t complaining about the staff? You completely miss the point. I don’t want help, I want to charge my car myself! There is a design specification, to build disabled accessible public chargers, BSI pas1899. MFG do not follow the standard and are in breach of the Equalities Act 2010 as a result. They are a huge company and could build access but they don’t, because it’s cheaper to use slave labour and apps, in an attempt to get around the regulations.

I know that now, hardly obvious, a juvenile way to create a brand name in my opinion

@@ctsljBut the Japanese weren't previously known for selling rubbish, even though their motorbikes were nicknamed "Jap crap", that was just snobbery from those on British bikes like Norton and Triumph etc... Chinese are known for selling things which break into pieces and electric cars which lock people in, or burst into flames. I absolutely love the beastly style of this MG. It looks good from every angle. Is it a rag top or a retractable hard top? If it were a rag top I would carry a fire extinguisher and a blade to slash the roof in an emergency but if it were a hard top, I'd avoid it completely

When you see it for real it looks bigger

2-3 years ago there were a lot of free public chargers, made owning an EV a sensible choice, but now very hard to find free charging, and electricity prices have risen a great deal. Some companies are gouging because they no EV drivers don’t have a choice.

Yes. They actually phoned me while I was wheeling around the Cathedral. I asked how did you get my number, they use some special legal powers! I went directly to the car where the traffic warden was standing waiting for me, he looked surprised to see me in a wheelchair. He said the tickets been issued so can’t be cancelled by him, but I could appeal, which I did and although they never replied in person, I didn’t pay the ticket and no further action was taken.

I’m on 165,000 now which is a lot for one of these little engines, especially with a turbo. Still flies along and 40 mpg as well.

Hi Gena, great to hear from you, the BMW was lovely and I highly recommend them, but always wanted a Porsche and so had to do a trade. We still have the Mini Clubman Latts run about, I’m still spending fortunes to keep it going, it’s like saving money in a Russian bank account, so we will be at Bradford Wharf in April. She enjoys the Porsche but it’s very wide and can be tight in small country lanes. It’s very low, so easier than loading an SUV, the sloping back can be a challenge. I’ll be in touch about meeting up in Lincoln can’t wait to see what you’ve done with your SE and the new EV in the boot lol

Yes the race to land grab is causing sub standard and illegal services to be built in a rush, very poor public EV charge network especially for disabled drivers

Yes Triride MTW, took the wheels with me when we went to view the car checked they would fit ok, amazingly they did the Panamera is huge, yet to take them on rough ground waiting for the weather, will post a video soon.

Hello Bob, it was freaky a sudden huge gust of wind just picked me and my heavy wheelchair up and sent me down the footpath. Bashed my elbow and ripped my shoulder, which I need to walk on crutches, so very inconvenient, still aches but getting back to normal now thanks for asking…

😢 Glad you are on the mend. I think the shock of such calamities really knocks us for six too. I was flung out of a 'hammock type chair' last summer.

For Mini it’s all classic minis from now on. If I had home charging and if I could afford it I’d have that Taycan Cross Tourismo in a flash. If we come up your way I’ll let you know cheers…
