Yes we had a great day out thx. It’s a game changer really can cope with almost anything, I went through 3 foot high ferns in the forest where there was no path, two wheel drive up steep hills all wheel drive on soft or loose and just front for flat

Motability is really good and definitely saves you money if you want a new car. My advice is make sure you choose the best car for your purposes. Try them out. Sit them take a test drive because once you sign the lease it’s yours for three years, the website is really good With lots of information and it’s well worth spending some time to read through it so you really understand what’s going on for a good relationship with your dealer because you might need to contact them again in the future. Clearly if you have someone else to do it for you then it’s not an issue. But many folks challenged by disability either don’t have someone, or like me don’t want to rely on someone. Being so dependent upon other people for so many aspects of your life is difficult enough, so the more independence you can achieve the more dignityattain.

@@warnerswheelingabout4879 of course. But when out and about with my wife ( who sits next to me - and where my chair would be if she wasn’t!) she would rather put a plug in than get my wheelchair out of the boot! So it’s not a loss of independence, just everyday practicality.

Hi thanks for watching, yes the new car is a lot of fun. Really enjoy going out in it as long as it’s just two of us we can squeeze everything in, one thing that is very noticeable is visibility, obviously with the roof down visibility is fantastic, but the side class theresb no thick B pillar which makes pulling out at junctions and roundabouts much better. The thing about Cars is hits horses for courses. Literally we all got different needs and preferences and the point of my video is just to really understand what it is that works best for you before making a decision?

@@warnerswheelingabout4879 I loved the diversity aspect of your video. All points I made were applicable to me except the point about motability discounts and the price of disability aids being disproportionate especially when many in the disability community are struggling with income. Good point about the B pillar. They are huge in the Berlingo and I find I have to get square on at junctions to get visibility of oncoming traffic, which is not always possible.

Hi thanks for watching. The Mini EV was fun to drive especially the one peddle driving, but they’re just not sophisticated enough yet it took us 120 odd years to Perfect the ice car and I think EV will probably take a similar amount of time.

Musk is not known for being ‘woke’ enough to care about physical disabilities sadly.

At a petrol pump, I can get out using my crutches lean on the car and the pump, it’s not heavy and I’m only stood up for a couple of minutes as opposed to the heavy work required to manage rapid charger cables. The other thing is range the petrol mini will easily do 440 miles double that of the EV version, and my wife’s diesel will do a 800 hundred miles on a fill up, just so much less work to do.

Firstly if you’re disabled then definitely do test drives in the cars and use the charging equipment. Make sure you can cope with it. I would add that you would need to have a home charger and a car with a good long range. If you do do long distance journeys then you need to be prepared for all the work of charging the vehicle and the possible aggravation that that can be. If you can manage with all the above then go for an EV but if you’re not sure there’s no need to rush.

If you can charge at home then it’s a no brainer. It might not be my first car but I would definitely have a second car that was an EV to take advantage of local trips at low cost. I’ve got a diesel Porsche now and with 100 L tank, I easily get over 800 miles of range, because I don’t commute and drive it every day, it can be 4 to 8 weeks between refilling. That presents are much more relaxed and less anxious environment when going anywhere I don’t even look at the fuel gauge I think all cars have a purpose horses for courses as they used to say.

I took my own, Ti lite rigid titanium frame wheelchair, with Triride electric front wheel, my own rig that I took with me. Depends what you need but you can rent wheelchairs and scooters in Thailand.

I can’t think of a better place if you’re on your own. You might find some obstacles in terms of accessible pavements, and things like that, but the people are extremely friendly, helpful. Service at the airport is excellent Taxi drivers are happy and helpful, hotels are excellent. Go for it.

Hi thanks for watching. Some parts are ok, but the main road down to the hotel and pool is very steep, no way you could get up there with just front wheel drive, my wife had to push and she was exhausted by the time we got to the top. I’ve since got the Triride MTW which is two electric rear wheels and adapted so that you can have a 3 x 3, that can cope with the deep hills. I haven’t made a video of that yet, but will do in the next few weeks.

I know crazy decision, seemed like a good idea at the time. Given the choice now I’d have the Merc back, the experience of the drive is important to me.

AP’s have gone up substantially and the choice is EV/SUV, and very little else

At the end of the day it's only you that's on the motability scheme, and all the lower end cars have five seats and a boot , the scheme is there to help you get about. And That's that 👍. If you want extras or a bigger car then you pay the extra money, a five seater car will be fine for most disabled people, and all adaptions are free. So I can't really see your point.

@@Paul-ey1ct I’ve been using the scheme for 30yrs+. All I’m saying is that it wasn’t too long ago when you had your pick of whatever car (virtual) you wanted and the deposits were never more than £100. This past 2 years you can’t touch most good cars for less than £1000, and that’s even cheap in their eyes. As we all are, I am entitled to give my opinion about what I think.

​@orthodoxblue7252 my Mazda 6 was 799 upfront 5 years ago. Just about to switch to Ioniq 6, that was 3500 but went up to 5500 on July 1st, that's too high imo but at least there won't be many about😂

In the UK, if you have a permanent disability you may qualify for Disabled Living Allowance. This financial monthly support payment can be used to pay for a Motabilty car lease. It is a charity that was set up in 1977, They lease company is contacted and leases about 750,000 cars. The cars are 0% vat so 20% cheaper, plus insurance and servicing are included. It’s a wonderful scheme.

Enjoy We collected my wife's first motorbility car in March. A hyundai kona N line s EV. was surprised we could choose any available colour for no extra charge, so metallic red it is. Took 3 weeks from order to delivery, they came and fitted a wall charger free of charge before it arrived. On the day my wife was unwell and they were happy for me to collect it and take an e signature from Tina. Almost seems wrong to be given the keys to a £43'000 car and we only paid a £1'500 excess (dead money, but its our first and I work,so why not). 428 miles in so far and it wonderfull.
