Adventure Riding Through DENSE WILDFIRE SMOKE in the ENTIAT MOUNTAINS.. | WA-OR BDR [E-2]
We knew we'd eventually run into forest fires on this adventure motorcycle ride, we just didn't expect it so soon..
EPISODE NUMBER TWO of riding the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route AND Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route.
In this video we finally pass the halfway point of the Washington BDR, but the riding conditions take a turn for the worse.. Starting on day 4, smoke from nearby fires blew in and would be there to stay for the next few days.
Over the course of days 4-5 we trek through various mountain ranges, resupply water at a spring, and had the opportunity to see some incredible views. That said, the journey was pretty tough through the heat and smoke.
Hope you guys enjoy episode two and for EARLY ACCESS to upcoming episodes, become a CHANNEL MEMBER in the link below!

SuperGlue. If you can find the medical grade, use that, but if not, regular superglue will work in a pinch to close a cut very effectively. In wintery weather, it's not unusual to get splits in the skin in the corners of your thumbs, etc... which are very painful. Superglue them and the pain nearly disappears instantly. Definitely clean the cuts first. IMO, one that is more gel than runny works better.
thats a really good idea especially in the event of a deep cut
Do you think the sickness is tied to the spring water at all?
@@Lagniappeson not at all. Carter was sick before we left and I caught what he had.
When you feel like that the risk of crashing goes way up. Takes a lot more effort to keep focused and reaction time increases. Stay safe!
Thanks guys
Super dope! Makes me want to get out on the Utah bdr come late spring!
What a great adventure. That's like a dream for me to go do something like that. Your footage is awesome, and I love the content. Keep it up.
If you wouldn’t have filmed this epic hard enduro, no one would believe you guys! Cheers 🍻 and I’m sure a well deserved beer, or two or three 🍺🍺🍺 from British Columbia 🇨🇦🏔️
I love the shorts all the time just feed after feed so many shorts I had to unsub so that happened 🎉
sorry you had to unsub man!
@madjack_757 oh I still watch your channel I just can't deal with the shorts
You Guys are making this look easy!! Most People who have never rode a bike up a rocky road does not know just how hard this is!! Gripit-N-Ripit Boys!!
I’m currently dealing with some bad injuries, has me considering if it’s wise to keep riding. I miss riding so much and watching videos like yours helps keep me motivated and sane! This is something I love so much. You encapsulate what it feels like to ride in your editing, presentation and delivery very well. Keep it up and thanks!
That made my day man. I think when it comes to riding, for some people it’s a hobby and for others it’s a lifelong passion. Bikes are tools that facilitate some of the best experiences a person can have in my mind. Injuries are definitely a part of it sadly and that’s something I’ve had to come to terms with. I think for me, whenever I feel the way you do, I tone down my riding a little bit because at the end of the day I just want to spend more of my life riding but I don’t always have to try and push myself too hard on the bike or risk injury you know? I’d rather ride slower than cut it out of my life for good. Anyways that’s my two cents on the matter, but I’m glad my videos are helping. Heal up quick brother 🤙🏼
@ Thanks! Definitely a passion. What sucks with my injuries they aren’t even from riding. Old injuries I ignored from bmx and football. Gotta come back better and stronger! I’m learning as I get older everything you do matters. Definitely makes me want to slow down and enjoy the little things more!
People always think water flowing over a small waterfall is the cleanest water🤦🏻♂️ I’d spend a little extra time looking for the source if I was already adventuring about the wilderness..
It was a fantastic water source that was also filtered before drinking.
I've ridden that canyon several times on a moto and mountain bike. It is spectacular.
Nice Braaps!
I hope to ride the WABDR north to south this year. I’ll probably skip Baby Head Hill.
Baby head hill isn't too bad!
You press the SOS button and you will start a long chat waiting for help...check video of real cases.
A You-Tuber had to use the SOS once, and had purchased the insurance and stated that it was like pulling teeth to get Gamin to pay for the medical fees. They even ignored her calls until Gamin started getting pressured to pay from her followers. Just something to remember. Have your own health insurance, then you know your actually covered. Video posted below if you're interested in that. Last thought for Gamin. If you don't want to be in the insurance business, then don't sell insurance. ua-cam.com/video/Jwr5v-Zd0Qg/v-deo.html
Have the same exhaust set up and smog block off. Amazing bike for all around endouro riding.
Very nice video, great sound of bike and talking, really enjoy your videos.
Great video.
Awesome....All the best from Alberta, Canada.
The scenery on this trail is just gorgeous and breathtaking. Thank you for getting all this on video, just amazing!
unless there's an alternate named 'moondust'... that got me. lolol
😂 hahahahaha
Oh man, I didn't think about that! A motorcycle rider in full gear might be very scary to a horse!
Yeah, having your left handlebar and mirror that close to the rock wall at times, and the fear of maybe getting a surprise collision... yikes!
Privileged white people problems. 3 days same sox? Gosh, really ruffin it!
great work as usual Real rider : loosing his clothes bag, and putting fluo paracord on zip locks ;)
Thanks for producing another amazing video. Me and my son love being able to watch your work
That made my day! I’m stoked you and your son are liking the channel!
Why are all the trees dead? Great videos.
Probably past fires
Gotta come back with the husq and ride devils backbone trail in this same area. Fun and challenging single track.
Im hoping to ride some tracks in WA this upcoming season 🤘 I need a good tour guide dude!
@ Let me know. Trade ya for some Idaho info👍🏻😂
Good deal 🤝
For the price of those mosko bags insane for quality that seems lacking.
Yeah they're definitely the pricier than other options, but I have used them for a while now.
@@madjack_757Didn’t Mosko replace the straps or fix them for FREE?
Lions rock lookout is pretty awesome without the smoke. The spot where you stopped and said a little further is some beautiful cliff side camp spot
Sections 2&3 of the WA BDR are nothing but rocks.
The Pioneer fire on the north shore of Lake Chelan was a cause of a lot of smoke in that area, then there was a big fire near Rimrock Lake that fouled the air north of Ellensburg.
For anyone doing the WABDR in 2025 and later years that reads this comment: The town of Plain, or the little store called Midway Village near Fish Lake / Lake Wenatchee are good alternate gas stops that aren't terribly far out of the way if gas is not available at Ardenvoir. From Ardenvoir, you could stay on the main gravel road which is the left turn a few miles up the Mad River Road - It's called the "French Corral" road and about 13 miles or so up the gravel, there's a large 4 way intersection. From there you can take a back way into Plain. Plain is probably the closer emergency gas option. Staffing at Cooper's store was hit and miss summer of 2024 after the owner passed away from Cancer. He'd been battling it for at least 5 years or so. i know this because I do most of my summer riding all around the central sections of the WABDR and go to Cooper's every day that I'm out riding. It's always good to make a note of the phone number to Cooper's and program it in your phone and call ahead before you lose cell service to confirm they are open if you need gas. Cooper's always has a giant water dispenser set up on the counter with cups next to it for riders like us. At least for the last two summers they've had it.
13:23 - TRAIL DRUGS! That's what me and my circle of riding buddies call meds such as pain killers like Advil/Tylenol, allergy meds, eye drops, TUMS., etc. that we always try to remember to pack. Sometimes the pollen in the air really messes up my eyes, so eye drops and Benedryl / Sudafed are good to have.
Those little items make SUCH a difference. Way better to have em and not need em.
I see a few shots of you riding with a helmet but the straps are undone. Is that intentional? 14:16
Haha it was totally unintentional. I wasn’t used to wearing a face gator and I think feeling it on my chin tricked my brain into thinking I was feeling my chin strap. I eventually realized tho.
Amazingly beautiful and anxiety inducing. I shouldn't be watching this right before going to bed. What a trail. My palms are sweating and I'm a nervous wreck. On a scale of 1 to 10 puckers, this is like a 20 pucker ride. Also, how this amazing dude managed to get drone shots (and really great drone shots) in the middle of all this seems super-human. Mad respect for real.
cool series man
Thanks man!
So if somebody were coming the other way on those intense parts... how does that get resolved?
Carefully
@@madjack_757 Yes, of course carefully... but it was a serious question. I mean, are you looking at the gate and noticing that no other vehicles are there, and maybe assuming nobody else is on the trail at the moment?
I have a second video on this trail that’s worth watching if you want more clarity on that. I look for everything from hoof prints in the trail (indicating equestrian traffic), I look at the number of cars at the trailhead, I listen for sounds of other motorcycles, I go slow around corners as best I can, etc.
@@madjack_757 Ok, thanks. I'm about to start part two now. You weren't kidding about the pucker factor.
That trail definitely has huge pucker factor hahaha. Sorry, I should’ve been more specific. It wasn’t part two where I specify those things, but I went back to the same trail again this season and filmed another video to create awareness of the things we’re talking about. Here is the link to that video: ua-cam.com/video/3BismjK8SwU/v-deo.htmlsi=6c27DqzOJGCuDuty

How many parts will this series be? This is a great series so far, great editing and storytelling.
Minimum 6 episodes maybe 7. WABDR was 3 episodes and I am editing Oregon as we speak which has a huge amount of cool footage. The question is whether to break Oregon into 4 episodes or cram it into 3.
@@madjack_757always more episodes 😅
3 day old socks = itchy boots 😂
The drone shots are amazing, thats probably one of my favorite viewpoints. Im looking to get into riding BDRs but im over on the east coast, means either MA BDR or Chattahoochee BDRx for me. Love this series so far!
Thanks so much! Whats the riding like out east?
@@madjack_757 lots of trees, mud, and private property lol. Good amount of gravel roads to get lost in Appalachia though
