One of my favorite trails. it is great on a bike because you can pass all the slow jeeps doing their thing. The first time out i was quite intimidated by the hard obsticals but i know the line now and trust my traction and momentum. I love the views up top on that trail.
Glad you like the videos!! I think for recovery, a knee brace would have been really nice, but when it comes to the actual ride, I prefer to ride without any kind of brace or knee guard at all. I always found that elbow and knee pads just restricted my movement and made life harder. Though, once I got back home and back to editing, a recovery brace for my knee would have helped a lot!
Love the videos man! Trying to make mine as interesting as yours. Love watching your vids while typing reports at work. Cant wait to get out and ride all these places in Moab, Keep it up!
Thanks so much! A lot of work goes into them!! If you ever have any questions about cameras or software don't hesitate to reach out. Get out there man! Moab is definitely one of the most unique places I have ever ridden in🤟🏻
Okay - my sons and I have been watching your videos for a few days now. Outstanding production quality-love the variety of camera angles, use of the drone, and the audio is excellent. But we are divided: some of us think you’re trolling your audience, pretending to be a worse rider than you really are, and some of us think you’re shooting straight. Personally, I can’t decide. You have moments of brilliance where you demonstrate perfect clutch control, body positioning, and you easily lift your front wheel over obstacles and flow up technical sections smoothly. But then you’ll stall out because you go into a minor feature with impossibly low speed. It’s almost like you’re sabotaging yourself by overthinking, looking immediately in front of you rather than farther ahead. I’m honestly not trying to troll you or disrespect you. I love your passion and your production quality is absolutely top notch. Crack that throttle open. Carry speed. Look ahead (not down) and let it rip. Peace, brother.
😂😂😂 you’re killing me man Okay so here’s the honest to god truth- I’ve been riding for 10 years (started out as an MX rider) but it’s my very first riding trip to Moab and I should have made a lot of changes to my bike. Most specifically my gearing. A video series I shot last year I was ADV riding and I changed my gearing for more long dirt roads. I was lazy before going on this trip and I should have regeared my bike. If I had I wouldn’t have stalled out so much. I like to think I’m a pretty decent rider, but my laziness to make that change on my bike really hurt in the long run. I’m making those changes to my bike before new videos are coming out after the Moab series🤙🏼 Stoked you and your family enjoy the videos! A lot of work goes into the filming and editing 🤟🏼
I think what you're seeing is a pretty good rider trying to figure out how to ride a completely different terrain than he is used to. I don't know if you have ever ridden in Moab before but it's completely different than most other places.
@@charlesr9110 Moab was by far one of the most unique places I have ever ridden. It felt like half of my riding skills just didn't even apply down there.
@@charlesr9110 Yes, I have a lot of experience riding Moab. Agreed that the terrain is different, but I honestly don’t think that’s it in this case. But I’ve said my piece and want to keep it respectful.
@@s2pointoh Normally when we ride alone,, we are more conservative , which can be good and bad.. Just an extra MPH can help clear many features.. Remeber speed is your friend , until you fall
Dude I do it so much and its so frustrating when I see it while I am editing 🤣🤣 I feel better I'm not the only one hahahaha Stoked you liked the video man!!
I would seriously look at increasing the fly wheel weight would increase the inertia of the engine and give you a better ride . No detriment to the engine just a plus cheer for the vid. Wish we had such awesome trails in New Zealander America is such a diverse environment so big cheers
Thats not a bad idea. It would definitely help reduce how often I was stalling.. For now I am gonna re-gear the bike and see if it helps, but if I still have the same problems, then a flywheel could be a smart move! America just has such a wide wide variety of areas to explore! Its really an amazing place to be a dirt bike rider. Someday I hope to visit NZ though!
Really enjoy your vids. Great commentary . Have you done any mods to the 501? I have a 390 Adventure with extensive mods. Too old to try any of the stuff you're doing, especially on a 390. Kinda wish I would of went more with a true "dual sport". Am planning a MABDR trip. Most likely be solo. Not too many riders here in SW Florida. Keep the vids coming.
Thanks!! My 501 has an FMF 4.1 Pipe, Heavy duty rims by Dubya, seat concepts seat, Baja Designs XL80 headlight, graphics, and loads of equipment for charging camera batteries and stuff off the bike. That 390 is a sweet bike!! Its gonna be perfect for the MABDR route too. As far as dual sports go, the 501 is by far one of the sportiest ones on the market. It is still on the heavy side, but it is very dirt oriented and I ride it absolutely everywhere. I've done ADV riding with it too, but the only comment I have is that your 390 is likely a lot comfier on long stretches. Ride safe on your MABDR! There may be some FB groups where you could find some riders to join the journey!
I camped out for two weeks along the river just north of Moab! There are loads and loads of places to either camp or grab a hotel. Also, Pro Tip- if you are camping one of the bike shops in town sells showers for 8 bucks. Theres also a spring next to the highway on the north end of town if you need to fill up water jugs!
Nice job brofessor. Does anyone use trials type tires on them bigger bikes anymore? Used to be kind of a deal several years ago. Great skills bud. Thanks for the video.
I have seen what you're talking about, but I havn't seen them out in Moab so far. I would imagine for some trails it could be a big advantage to run those tires tho.
Thanks! All my camera gear is in my YT bio 🤟🏼 I have crashed several drones sadly and repairs can be costly. The mini ones seem to be the most durable though and can withstand a substantial amount of abuse!
@@madjack_757 ahh ok! I'll be looking in the bio then! Unfortunate that they crash, but I would have expected them to at somepoint, it's still pretty impressive watching the thing follow you around!
@renski8976 for what they can do, I’m blown away by the technology. Crashes are all part of it tho, good news is I’m usually in the middle of nowhere (unless I’m working on client projects) so my biggest concern with crashes is finding the drone lol
@@madjack_757 oh dang, I didn't think about that. How does the drone hold up when following you around? I notice that in some sections you fly a bit at maybe around 35 to 40mph, can the little DJI keep up? Subbed while I was in your bio, btw. The videos are pretty amazing.
It can be a challenge sometimes. I try to slow down when I can so it can keep up better, but its never perfect you know? Thanks for subscribing! I appreciate the support!!
