- An incredible trail that will need another attempt..
In this video, I am exploring an area that I had previously attempted to ride 2.5 months prior to posting. When I first rode it, the conditions were too rough to make it very far, but now I am back to see what lies at the top of this mountain..
It has been two months since I have ridden my 501, but what better way to get back into it, than with a challenging trail.
Hope you guys like the video!

NOTE: For anyone that may have been looking to watch the Part 2 of for the last video, here it is. Took me longer than expected to get it published, but here it is!
What's the wildest/crasiest/scariest encounter you ever had on one of this adventures?
Very recently I was camping in what I thought was a kinda remote area after riding for about 100 miles that day. It was probably like 10:30 at night and gunshots started to sound out in the woods around my buddies and I. Nothing landing near us or anything but it must’ve been a pretty large caliber because it was real loud. I ended up putting a round into the dirt to make some noise and kinda say like “hey there are other people out here”. The other guys gunshots stopped after that. About 30 minutes later a truck comes flying down the dirt road towards us with the light bar on top of the truck at full blast. We all turn our lights off and everything hoping we won’t be seen and then this guy goes blazing past and that’s the last we saw.
Not sure if that’s the “scariest” experience, but it was a recent interaction that put me on edge before I crawled into my sleeping bag lol
Awesome video. I really have gotten bored with all the other motovloggers rambling about new bikes and stuff. Your channel gets right down to the nitty gritty of riding: for exploring and seeing awesome scenery!
This past weekend I got back on my bikes after a 2 month and 3 week hiatus. The heat this summer resulted in very little interest in riding this summer in Washington.
Saturday I did an epic trail ride on my KTM, then Sunday I rode a seldom used trail in Washington and smashed my foot when my DRZ and myself took a dirt sample. I so thankful I was wearing a decent riding boot. I will NEVER skimp on riding boots.
Thanks so much!
Man that sounnds like a painful one... Never skimp on the boots! I also don't blame you for taking a break from the riding. You might've seen the post, but I just filmed a new video series up in WA and OR and when i was up in WA it was hot, dusty, and smokey. Really made riding tougher in those conditions.
Is this just the return ride the same day as your last ride here? I started it thinking you were attempting from the north but it appears you are still on south end.
Yeah that’s my return ride! I’m hoping to film my next attempt here shortly. 2 days ago I scouted out the north end of the trail and found the trailhead.
@@madjack_757 right on. North end I don't recall being as gnarly.
@joesketchbook fingers crossed 🤞🏼
Love the content.. why ride alone though? Just last week I was riding with some buddies and toppled over a rock at 2 mph. Wasn’t injured. But my leg was pinned under the bike and I had no leverage to move the bike. Had I been alone I’d be stuck (in an awkward uncomfortable position) till someone came along. Just saying.. stupid shit happens.
Looks like a beautiful area and really cool trail
Awesome video can’t wait for more
Another great ride - nice one!
Love your vids but feel sorry for you having to beat yourself to death just to ride offroad. Are there any easier trails "not so rocky" in your area? Southern middle tennessee here lots of old trees and old mountains our trails have some rock but nothing on that scale.
Theres all kinds of riding out here, but this region where I have filmed a lot of videos this year is notoriously rocky. Though I will say, its just a very mountainous state which leads most of the trails to be a bit more challenging. I am definitely going to have my winter maintenance cut out for me after this hard riding. Someday I will have to go out east and explore Tennessee!

I do my best to ride with others when I can. I really do. The challenging thing is filming takes a lot more time than people realize and it’s hard to find riding partners that appreciate the filming as much as the riding. Plus, my schedule is always changing which makes it hard to coordinate riding days with others.
That’s a pretty gnarly story and definitely a testament to the things that can happen out on the trail
@@madjack_757 gotcha.. I can see that. But at least get a garmin inreach or something similar. I’m 55 and been riding dirt bikes and street for 35 years and have seen a lot of bad things, and from AA riders too. Just as you learned what to bring on the video you got stuck overnight, you don’t want to “learn” why you need and emergency GPS when riding alone before getting one. Stay safe.. killer videos
@marcb4788 I carry an in reach every where I go! I pay for the communication plan and the SAR100 plan in case I need rescue. It always stays strapped to my vest so it’s close by if I need it 🤟🏼
@@madjack_757I would go with you 😅 but I'm in Spain, bring your bike I'll show you our trails 😁
I like riding solo. It’s not a race. I can experience the challenge on my own terms. The drone footage is amazing by the way. Thanks for your hard work.
Trail looks awesome! As always, great video dude
Another tough ride!
If you wanna ride that dry, rocky slick trail put on a gummy Tire Gear it down a tooth so you’re running in second most of the time and keep up your momentum. You won’t believe how much easier it will be
Man I wish I had the money to burn up and consistently be replacing gummy tires!! Re-gearing isn’t a bad idea though man!
@@madjack_757 I am 74 years old and I bought a 2020 FE-501 I fixed it but it was not cheep, I put a Get ECU I bought from Taco Moto, the WP Explorer forks are terrible have them rebuilt and kitted with compression and rebound in both forks and the gummy tires have come a long way and they will last longer than you think.
I have really been thinking about that ECU and rebuilding my suspension. Its all gonna depend on how my money situation looks as nature dims the lights and covers ID in ten feet of snow here in a couple months lol. That ECU is especially interesting to be because I dont like how lean the 501 comes from the factory. I want a healthier motor. Maybe in the coming season I will try a gummy tire.. Maybe another Moab trip is in order...
Come to Colorado we’ll go riding in the mountains, I’ll let you ride my 501 and you will be amazed how well it works
