I chose a King of the Night when I visited the Fountain Pen Hospital in New York earlier this month, it's my first Esterbrook and I'm very happy with it - it looks terrific and writes so smoothly. I also picked up a MB149 from the Montblanc boutique on Madison Avenue, so it was a great visit to NYC for me. I could have bought them in London, but I like doing as you do, and getting them when visiting the US has given them additional significance to me.

My King of the Night pen arrived from Atlas yesterday and it is even more stunning in person. It took me awhile to decide to whether to buy it due to the price, and I'm glad I finally did.

I finally purchased the Esterbrook King of Night pen! It was on my radar as soon as the stationers slipped it into their coming soon webpages. But I was kinda scared off from the price. I did get to see it in person and then it wouldn’t leave my mind, it was so beautiful. I purchased from Appelboom as it was the lowest price I found! That grey Aurora was also in my shopping cart but ultimately I passed for now. It is lovely and I’m glad you like it!! Thanks for the video!

You would have loved the original nock cases, they had some simple dark blue and grays. They originated the Sinclair. I’m collecting the whole line! I still have a few cases left that I missed out on when they were being produced.

If you do move to near newberry st Youll have to go see Pier Gustafson hes just across the river and hes an Excellent person to buy Vintage fountain pens from for reasonable price too :)

I highly recommend the Walmart Pen and Gear Heavyweight notebooks they are a4 their 100 pages and their $1.97 and their super fountain pen friendly I cant recommend them enough :)

Also - if you like Kiri Same ink you should try to nab a bottle because it's been discontinued! :( I'd also recommend Tuna Grey by Dominant Industry x WonderPens. It's a lovely grey ink (my favourite!) Oh - and I'd love to see the packaging for the King of the Night pen! What a beauty!

That is so exciting about your new Boston condo! I was in Boston today and thought how I really need to get out of the suburbs more often; it's invigorating to spend the day there with so much more to do and see. I really want to read more in the new year and of course have thought about keeping a notebook / log / journal, but I am not convinced I'll stick with it yet. 😅

I have the same Visconti Venus Rose and had nib work by Matthew Chen on mine. It worked well out of the box for me, but I wanted an extra fine line. ❤

I have such a soft spot for Sailors. My first ever fountain pen was a Sailor Pro Gear Slim Mini (the same Zyne Pink one you have!) and I’ve since acquired four more of them. The 21k nibs feel so lively when I write with them, and I just can’t get enough. Thank you for sharing your beautiful “fleet” of Sailors!

INK SUGGESTIONS: like you, I like brown pinks. I recently received Jacques Herbin Rouille d’Ancre. The first pen I put it in (an extra fine Kaweco) was a dry writer and didn’t like the ink in it. It showed as too light for my tastes but I just put it in my Aurora 88 volterra fine nib and it looked completely different. It’s pinky brownish orange… it’s in the family of Laban Aphrodite but the Aphrodite I’d say leans towards a more purpley hue and is a bit darker in tone. I am totally going to use both in the volterra! The online swatches I saw showed the Herbin swatch as super light. In the Aurora, it’s perfectly legible and I’d say mid tone not dark but not very light. Also you are collecting Montblanc inks: I love the MB miles Davis jazz blue…. It’s a really different ink. It’s kind of milky rather than transparent if you think in terms of watercolor: opaque rather than transparent. But is a gorgeous mid sky blue…. Nice for lighter colored pens. I’ve only seen it in reseller market where I got mine.

I have the Botanical Garden and bought it for the same reason…so many matching possibilities! But wow…I LOVE the Rocky Top!

This reminds me of my first gold nib pen, Sailor PGS Spring Rain. My sweet husband gave it to me for Christmas and could not believe he spent that on a pen 😅. He has since adjusted to the idea. You have some beauties.

I have two Sailor pro gear slims… the cream colored one you have and also a nonble special edition with kinokuniya bookstore in Turquiose … cap is dark and barrel a lighter milky turquoise yellow gold trim. I love them. But my platinums are my fav with the pilot falcon as a real fav writer 😊

I had to chuckle… I’m a spreadsheet girl myself! lol have spreadsheet for all my pens too! I’ve been on the hunt for the hatchimonjiya pink one and the resale prices are outrageous! $500-600!!! You have a beautiful selection of Sailors. Enjoy

Lovely collection of Sailor pens. That Hachimonjiya, is so beautiful. I also have the Sailor Autumn Moon pen, it was purchased on Amazon, and was my first Sailor pen. I have 3 Sailor pens, the Autumn Moon in MF nib, a Pink Transparent PGS with a M nib, and my favorite is a Bungubox X Sailor Realo in Cinderella's Slipper in MF. I'm at the point will only try to purchase a PG's if I was to buy another Sailor. I love the piston filler on the Realos and I can't see owning any more Sailor pens unless it's a Realo. Great video and it was nice to see your collection!

Such a beautiful crew of Sailors! The Yoseka Home is on my grail list, I get excited every time I see it in someone's video. I only have one Sailor so far, the Teatime Moroccan Mind Tea PGS. I'm planning to use it with the 10-year journal I'll be starting on January 1st. I'm still deciding which ink to use for 2025 in that, but it will definitely be a Sailor ink. ✒ I love seeing Lumpy, he's a superstar!

How do you use the Appelboom link exactly?

I only have one Sailor pen because they are out of my price range. However, I came across a heavily discounted Sailor Pro Gear Slim Komagusa pen with an MF nib. I am delighted with it, but for a very long time it will be the only fountain pen of this brand in my collection.

1. Now I want a bunch more Sailors! 2. My favorite Sailor is my vanilla KoP. Nib is two orders of magnitude even better than a PG. My most beautiful-looking Sailor is a PG in Winter Night.
