Thank you so much for also writing in your pens! Dip pens aren't always the best representation of the actual experience in a foutain pen, especially those of us who love F and EF nibs. Great video!
Lori. You mentioned going to several pen shows. Would you ever do a video where you kind of review how you prep before a pen show ? what you take? How you decide which pin nib needs to be changed?
And this time your video ended up costing me money, but I’m so thrilled to have found I can buy easily directly from Nagasawa. I have both Strawberry and Milk Chocolate coming my way! Your top 14 is absolutely lovely, and the pens you used were incredible. You have such a gorgeous collection. When my collection grows up it wants to be a tiny little corner of your collection. ☺ Oh, and another Canadian here!
thank you so much! i’m new to fountain pens and as much as i’d like to play with fun inks, i need ones that are versatile. these are right in my range of interest! ✨
I no longer use a LAMY 2000. I had 4 of these pens and all 4 eventually developed loose caps ( tops ) that I could not fix. I was so disappointed that I threw all 4 in the garbage. No more LAMY 2000s in my life. RS. Canada
I so enjoy your video content. Relaxing listening to you speak on the various fountain pens and inks in your collection. Your handwriting is so pretty as well. Thank you
I am the odd ball it seems. Not in love with Sailor and Lamy pens. Maybe it is just the ones I have tried. Have sold them. I have a large collection of pens. Favor Opus 88, Benu, TWSBI, Esterbrook, Pilot, Pelikan, Leonardo, and Kaweco so far. Love your ink selection.
I love these!!! I agree wholeheartedly with bah humbug! I would have to say some staples of mine are diamine seasons greetings, FWP beaver dam brown, Monteverde olivine and moonstone
Bah Humbug is so underrated! I've heard great things about Olivine and I've always wanted to try Beaver Dam brown! Thanks for the recommendations. So many inks, so little time!!
Great inks! I really enjoy your collection, your latest pen is amazing. That really is the highest Grail pen that I could imagine. Thank you for sharing.
As a fellow Montblanc enthusiast , I would highly recommend their scented inks. There aren’t many but the ones that are around are just chef’s kiss in every way. And I have been playing around the MB permanent black and blue inks lately. Again chef’s kiss 😊love them! Another brand that is better than most for scented inks is De Atrementis. I have not used them for a loong while though. I remember not having problems with them. Although I have many inks, I finally accepted that I am not really an ink explorer if you will. Having said that I love some of your choices. I am not a huge shimmer fan just because they are a pain to clean. I only use them in some dedicated FPs now. So this video is wonderful for me! Thank you for it
I recently acquired a Lamy 2000 from Atlas (thanks to you for the discount code). And like you, I dont know what it is, but I just dont feel like using it even though I was super excited when I got it. Ive been using Diamine Presidential Blue in it, but might have to use your strategy to pick the pen up more. In terms of blue inks, I absolutely love FWP Bathurst Blue Denim, it is shimmer ink but Ive had no issues using it in my pens and almost all my pens are F or EF.
Ok, my top inks from 2024 include Rouge Grenat from J.Herbin, KWZ Baltic Memories, Diamine - Damson, Earl Grey, Ancient Copper, Deep Dark Orange, and Eclipse, Waterman Serenity Blue, Montblanc Great Gatsby Green, Montblanc Jane Austen umber, Sailor Shikiori Tokiwa-matsu (a lovely olive green), Pelikan Edelstein Garnet, Sailor Souboku.
Love your ink and pen picks. I was on the fence about that Visconti green and pink pen, but missed out at the last minute during the Black Friday sale. Are you familiar with Diamine Inkvent winter spice? And if so, how does it compare to writing desk
Love your collections of inks. The KWZ Smells like coffee looks interesting. I am not so much of scented or brown inks yet, willing to try and find my perfect brown. Recently I got a sample of Online Scented Cedar Wood. I love the smell, it is subtle woody, the ink is darkbrown with a hint of bluegrey undertone. Scented inks I tried before were all fruity and flowery. Think wood, coffee, chocolate woud work better for me.
Your videos have made me buy Caffe Crema. When I initially tried I’m like… meh. Then it grew on me! Now I have two pens inked with it and was my first choice of ink to break in my journal. I was like “dang! Lori was right!” Hahaha! Thanks for the recommendation!
Aww thank you Lori you are too sweet! I hope we get to see each other again this year! Now I need to go buy more inks hahaa. But I’m still so obsessed with that strawberry chocolate!
Thank you so much! I think a TWSBI Eco is a great place to start! They are very reliable and affordable. You'll need to get a bottle of ink as they don't take cartridges. I also love the Hongdian on Amazon. Kaweco sports are inexpensive, fun and portable! I love so many pens. That's what gets me into trouble! Enjoy!
Pilot has a few excellent starter pens, and they make great cartridges of ink. The Metropolitan, the Kakuno, or the Explorer are great Pilot starter pens. I also like my Metropolitan’s beyond ‘starter’.
Can you do a dupe video for the Nagasawa Strawberry Chocolate Ink ? I went to buy the ink online and it was a $24 shipping fee. I would love to see if there was something available domestically before I spent that much on shipping.
Beautiful ink selection. I'm staying away from shimmer lately and I'm not crazy about sheen either. I do love shading inks the best. I think you would love Kobe Milk Chocolate its more peachy beige than pink.
Question: I’m a beginner and got a Lamy Safari to start out. What would you recommend to be pens under ~120 -150? I’m swimming in too many brands. I like a weighty pen!
Hi Lori, yay a new video in the new year 2025🎉 There are a few inks I def need to check out from your list. For another coffee-scented ink I use DeAtramentis „Kaffee“ and it behaves so so well and doesn’t bleed through either. DeAtramentis Jane Austen is my fav green ink of 2024. I’d love to see you talking in a video about your Scribos with showing the new Dandy and Saragozza more on detail- they are so different yet gorgeous! 💕
Lori. You mentioned going to several pin shows. Would you ever do a video where you kind of review what you go through thinking before a pen show what you take that kind of stuff
Toronto dweller here! WonderPens is a really special shop so I highly recommend a visit. As others have mentioned, there are some other great shops here too. Tuna and Chicken are the beloved WonderPens cats. I love Ginger Chicken by Dominant Industry too - it’s reminiscent of Diamine Ancient Copper but not quite as dark. They also released the Tuna and Olives and Ginger Chicken with shimmer this past fall. I’m sure they’d love to meet you if you fit in a visit!
I just received a new Estie Jurassic with a fude nib and not loving it, have you tried one ? I need inspiration to use it, has anyone else had experience with the new Esterbrook fude nib?
I have it. You just have to get use to it. It really is a drawing pen, not so much an everyday writer. To write with it, I reverse write with it. It writes best that way. You can always buy a from your favorite reseller and use the Fude sparingly. I try to practice with the fude because it's different from other fude nibs that I have used. I would suggest writing at different angles to see what you get. Don't be precious with it.
Thank you for the help. It would make a great video suggestion for one with the knowledge of how to use. I watched several but this one does not seem to behave the same way, but will keep trying.
I’m considering the Fude nib, but am worried I won’t get much use out of it everyday. Your experience is making me think that I should stick to a regular nib.
lovely colors Lori!!! I think I shared with you that I purchased a green velvet couch in the fall and obsessed now!! FWP makes Peter Moss Green. Check it out! Its beautiful
Tsuki-yo pilot iroshizuku yama-budo d. Majestic blue, d. Damson, pilot take-sumi (best black bamboo charcoal), sailor Oregon for my green. And winter spice inkvent and d. Macassar for brown
I wish you a great inspiring 2025! My favo is ‘Denneweg groen” from Akkerman Den Haag. Just entered the fountainpen universe 😊 in september ‘24. So there is a lot to discover.
Great video! Not sure what I loved more, the inks or the glimpses of your wonderful pens.

Agree! I was watching/listening as I wrote in my journal tonight
Canadian here--thanks for the Ferris Wheel Shout Out and the Wonder Pens shout out! I really like Bah Humbug too. Nice choices!
My diamine sepia looks the same as choosing keeping one. And the bottle shape is the same too. I feel that they are the same? 😊

Loving the Diamine Bah Humbug. I forgot how great this 2023 inkvent ink was!
It was a good year!
Oh man. The Laban Greek god series is amazing. I have 4!
I really enjoyed this!!! Thanks again Lori!
Great inks! I really enjoy your collection, your latest pen is amazing. That really is the highest Grail pen that I could imagine. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Ceit. I've been really enjoying my Taccia.

What pen and nib size do you use your Rouge Grenat ink in. It is one of my favorites as well.
@ I particularly like it in my Pineider with a broad quill nib. The pen is a La Grande Bellaza Arco Firefox, so it complements the ink well,
Nice selection of inks! On your "green" sheet of inks...what is the Sailor Shikiori ink? Thanks!
Toronto and area has several great fountain pen/stationary stores. You need to visit soon!
I would love to visit!!
Wonder pens is awesome. I was there last August. I am from Canada. I live in Nova Scotia
i would love to see your montblanc pen/ink collection video. A brand I have been interested in exploring more of. beautiful ink choices.
Love your ink and pen picks. I was on the fence about that Visconti green and pink pen, but missed out at the last minute during the Black Friday sale. Are you familiar with Diamine Inkvent winter spice? And if so, how does it compare to writing desk
New too all of this and loving learning...do you recommend a video on the basics of the "anatomy" 😂 of a fountain pen? 😁

Oh I am so happy to hear that you like it!! I always come back to Caffe Crema. It's like an old reliable friend who never lets me down, lol!
Canadian here! 🥰 I have writing desk in my Sailor Pro Gear Slim Meigetsu (Harvest Moon) and love the pairing so much. Take care Lori!
Excellent

Haha! Have fun shopping!
Here for all the browns!
Brown inks are my weakness!
Ohhh sorry about my typo...I meant "new to..." not "new too..."🤦♀️
Aaaand once again, I’m tempted to buy the TWSBI Caffe Bronze 😭😭😭
UA-cam algorithm brings me to you channel, very pleasant to watch your video by the way I like your manicure . Thank you for sharing
At 39:46, what is the stubby glass tool being used to spread the ink? I love it!
wow, that Strawberry Chocolate !!
I do love it!
I’ve loved watching you. Where would you recommend starting for someone wanting to start using these pens?

Diamine sargasso sea😊
Im in Toronto and looooove WP! We have a few other fountain pen shops that are also great. If you make the trip, there’s some great food spots too
thanks for the show

No inexpensive and easily available inks were harmed in making this video 🙂
No shimmers for me. Not interested in the potential for clogging
