THE FINAL GSXR BARN FIND REVIVAL (PART 5)
Welcome to the channel and the final episode on the GSXR revival.
Here is a link to the series on the GSXR if you haven't seen any of the other videos: ua-cam.com/play/PLRjInWJKQL8yD6YTUhWO5H0gFXBvAfwss.html
In this video we have replaced those old flat tyres with some fresh new rubber, we clean and reseal the tank (after we manage to get the fuel cap off that is!) then we reassemble that and get it back on the bike. We go for a first attempt at starting the bike since the surgery took place.
We then move on to dialling in those carbs and getting the idle set up correctly making sure the bike runs great, gets up to temperature and we don't have any leaks. A quick test up the lane and then we finish up by getting all the remaining parts on the bike and some nice final shots of the bike in all its glory.

How the tool held up?
So far so good, really glad I brought one and should of done it sooner
@@TurningSpannerz bought one today and can't wait to get it 😃 had an hard time deciding if these newer model are as good as the old one (cp1202) that hase 1000 of good reviews. Only time will tell. Yours seems to hold up so that's feels good !
@@johansundin4054 Nice one 😁 yes my one has been great, I don't use it to break things loose as that can damage the internals but its great for running things up & down. I am looking to get some other tools in the range.
I find it interesting that you used a level when you could've just easily measured up from the other socket. Van could've been sat on a slope, more weight usually on one side of them builds as well. Unless of course you checked the level on the worktop/socket before 😂
Thanks for the comment, I used a combination of the two and ended up using the worktop as a datum as the socket below was not level 🤦♂
@@TurningSpannerz 😂
Excellent work mate 👌 looking forward to an update on the road test 👍
Thanks mate! Yes definitely, I am looking forward to getting out on it. Especially now with all the work it's had and the dynojet kit.
Gotta say I was nervous that the kit would work ok… transformed mine back in the day. I’ll be revisiting the R1 you did soon, another bike I’ve owned in the past! 13yrs I had the 5vy!
@@Northfox46 Yeah check it out! really enjoyed working on the R1 and it now looks really good. Hoping to do many more bikes for the channel.
Sorry must have missed it BUT what does the 1.5mm flex go to/from?
Hi Rob. 1.5mm flex goes from the fuse board up to the sockets. 2.5mm goes from the hook up plug to the fuse board

@@TurningSpannerz Cheers mate - just buying the gear from Amazon this evening to copy the exact same on your video. Is there any concern with running something like an air fryer off a socket with 1,5mm flex possibly?
I have a GSX1100EF I picked up last year, I was lucky the engine is very low Km's and it had a lot already done like the wiring etc. As they are getting rarer by the day, I went and painted it origional Blue/White, and it just is so rare to see one like it now people remark on it every time I go out. I always wanted to streetfighter one up, but now i've gone origional !!. Mad world.
Sounds awesome! I bet it looks great. I couldn't believe when first posting the GSXR how many people had great stories about their own bikes & experiences. It is great to hear about them all! Thanks for sharing !!
You'll be impressed with the dynojet kit, i fitted one to a gsxr750wn with ramair filters/ignition advancer and it transformed the bike.
Thanks again for the great video. Some folks recommend driving a few miles before starting the charger - just wondering if you could fit an on/off switch on the 12V signal cable i.e. to turn the charger on/off? I suppose the way that you've set it up you could just use the re-settable fuse?
No problem! Glad it helps. Some of the latest lithium auxiliary batteries can be viewed via blue tooth and you can look at their condition through the battery app (manufacturer depending) Sterling batteries do this. I don't think you will need to worry about an on/off switch as the smart chargers will manage themselves, I have never had an issue with them. The chargers can also be programmed to meet your individual needs, you can set min/max voltage and all sorts of other features too from memory.
Thanks - awed [looks really expert - you do this for a living?] - thinking of trying to do this - what could possibly go wrong! 1) Just wondering if you installed anything to tell you how much charge was in the leisure battery --- 0% ---50% ---100%? 2) I see some people use piggy back fuses i.e. rather than splicing the 12V signal cable. Which slots are already used i.e. which have live when ignitions & vice versa? 3) Your simple clear video reminds me of this - cheap/simple blade fuse holder - ua-cam.com/video/r6-DzqyQoT8/v-deo.html
Hi Francis, thanks for the comment 😀 I have also fitted Victron smart chargers (did one for my dads previous VW Transporter) and this had an app via bluetooth that monitored both the vehicle main battery and the auxiliary battery, along with some other great features. Really handy if your not directly in the vehicle either. I didn't fit anything because I use the power for lighting and tool charging which when flat I just run the vehicle. You could get a cheaper digital voltage gauge and wire that into the system so at a glance you could see the current Voltage. I would just ensure that you use the appropriately rated cable and fuses. You could use the piggy back style fuses, I didn't use this because the fuse board under the seat on the Crafter has a cover on the other side that with this fitted would not allow the cover to be fitted. I also made another video on connector types for wiring that could be useful to you: ua-cam.com/video/UD5HFsn_9Ds/v-deo.html
@@TurningSpannerz Thank you for the detailed reply. "You could get a cheaper digital voltage gauge and wire that into the system so at a glance you could see the current Voltage." Yes, I could probably get by using voltage monitoring. I've noticed some folks are using a shunt and a small display e.g. if you've 100AMP battery storage then you program that to 100%. I think this type of setup is perhaps £50.
Coming on nicely! 👏 a little tip with the carbs is smearing a little oil on the rubbers, makes them a bit easier to slide in 👍
Thanks for the great tip! I did end up using some silicone spray to aid me in fitting the carbs. 😃
@@TurningSpannerz I was waiting for you to be sat on the subframe with your feet pushing them in! I did that a few times 😂
@@Northfox46 Sounds like I got off lightly🤣 I wasn't far from it on a FZ6 I had a few years back.
I am being polite,is it nervous chatter you suffer from, you honestly don’t need to feed us with useless information the Video says it all , they are good to watch with out toooooo much chatter , please do think I’m being rude to you , I’m not .👍
Thanks for the comment Chris, I have been trying some different approaches to see what people like/dislike so I can continue to improve the content I deliver.
Hi thanks for this vid. Looking at one of these. How does it compare to Milwaukee M12 ratchet? Im assuming slightly less power 45nm vs 47nm and slower its half the price! Interested in your thoughts
Hey GT86, The Sealey unit is slightly less powerful, I mainly use the Sealey tool to run down the threads and then hand tools to break the bolt/nut loose and also to finish the tightening process, great for cam covers, timing chests etc. For the price of the Sealey one I have been really pleased with the product. Having heavily used but not owned any other cordless ratchets I thought I would give this a try but I at least wanted a brand I knew. If you register it on purchase it does come with one years warranty, I will be looking to purchase other tools in the range and may well review those to for people.
Saw you on Dee's Channel. Just say Hello 👊🏾
Looking forward to an update review on this. How does it perform against some more expensive and higher voltage ratchets
Hi Dave, Check out my other videos as I have done a review on this tool 👍
Hi, please could you tell me where do you get these flaps from. Are the tailgate ones you are fitting? So many of these on eBay, but lots say that they are only suitable for tailgate models. Thanks
Hi There, I believe my dad got them from Vee Dub Transporters. I don't think its makes a difference which rear door/tailgate style you have. The van in the video has barn doors. I hope this helps.
Keep it is a beast
❤
Great vid - looking forward to seeing how this progresses.
Not sure if you are aware but you mixed the two middle carbs up when you were separating them
Thanks Matt, I did double check them before I re-assembled them back onto the support rails. There was me saying be careful not to mix them up 🤣
A dynojet kit is worth fitting to these. Cleans up the revs nicely & also set up ready if you have an aftermarket filter & can 👍
Thanks Northfox! I will check this out for sure and see if I can get a kit.
Thanks
Looking good. Keep it up! 👍🏻😃
Awesome F10
Subbed. I’m curious of the result. Will you sell it?
Thank you and welcome to the channel. I may well do at the end, only so many I can keep 😂
@@TurningSpannerz ok
Wanna start doing same work as a hobby. Great video. Keep it up
Hey Ross, I’m enjoying the series. I’m actually after a bit of info! I’m currently building up a 1993 750, but I’m building it from bits and I had a somewhat butchered loom. I can not find where the oil pressure switch plugs into the loom! Comes from the switch in the sump and ends in a little green plug - but where does this plug in? And help would be amazing.
Thanks for the comment and feedback 😀 really glad you are enjoying it! So the one I have as you say comes from the sump and is a green wire with a yellow trace and a bullet style connector fitting. If you look at the positive battery terminal side look at the bottom of the battery on this side and it is coming out of the main wiring loom in that area. There are also some other plugs there too. Let me know if you find it, if not I will grab some pictures for you.
on these bikes its easier to disconnect the throttle cables at the throttle, and leave them connected to the carbs when you pull the carbs out. Also connect them to the carbs first before you reinstall the carbs.
Thanks for the comment and advice! I will try to remember this when I put it back together 😀
Well done it looks brilliant 👍👍
Hi there, this kit itself is probably not applicable for a Mercedes A class but I am sure there are similar kits online that will fit. I hope this helps
Hi. Can this be fit on mercedes A class 2019?
Hi there, this particular kit will not fit. However I am sure that you can get a similar kit online with a detachable tow ball. Thanks
I have just liked and subscribed 😊😊
Thanks 😊 welcome to the channel!
Make sure you check the restrictions have been removed just behind the inlet rubbers, they make a big difference 😉
Thanks Northfox! I will certainly take a look at those and get them removed 😀
Looking forward to this. Lookin good!
Had a P reg WP model, 100% original 15k miles, absolutely spotless........have always regretted trading it in.......daym 😢😢
Good night good to see you repairing all kinds of vehicles and please don't stop doing the videos I am very impressed 🎉you
Had a1100 wp was a rocket ship ❤
my 1994 gsxr1100 didnt look as nice as yours but it ran like a raped ape. back then i ran Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa (race take-offs) on the street since i never rode in the rain and loved them.
I have a gsxr 600 k5 had it from new, been in storage for 8 years now
They are a lovely bike! maybe you could bring it back to life for summertime?
Sounds like the pilot jets are a little fured up but not serious, the lumpy running will mostly be the airbox rubber. Once that is back on you could balance the carbs but I would leave it until after filters, oil change and checking the valves as you will need to do it again after those anyway. Looks like it was a well cared for bike, all the bolts are OEM which are the first place a bodger starts spoiling things.
Thanks for the comment, I believe it was well looked after and like you mentioned it's great to see mostly genuine bolts, I will probably grab a fairing bolt kit as they seem to be a bit mismatched. Yes, it will need some maintenance which I will film as well. The paintwork has some imperfections in places but overall is ok.
Thank you for your comment! It definitely needs a good go over but like you say at least it hasn’t been “got at”
I saw Kevin Swantz race the actual Lucky Strike no. 34 Suzuki many times at Donington, Silverstone and Brands. He was the Marc Marquez of the late 80's / early 90's. So acrobatic that they named the corner after him at Donington where we saw him almost lose the bike. The number 34 was retired from MotoGP numbering with him. Richard
Hi Richard, Thanks for the comment. I bet that was absolutely amazing to watch, a great bit of insight thank you!
If the fuel supply valve was clogged you definitely need to check the carbs as well. I'd would have done it anyway. Used to have an air/oil cooled GSXR-1100 back in the nineties btw. You seem to have a good taste 😉
Amazing job!
Absolutely stunning bike. Absolute rocket's. I have heard it can be difficult , to get certain parts. I hope this is not the case.. Omg, that sound, 😍
What engine has?
It's Japanese of course it will run. Nothing beats Japanese Technology ❤
nice bike had one myself get a hair drier on the rear rubbers push them into air box, heat them rubbers on front as well if removing
Or a Yamaha blaster I think has the same long pet Cock same tank seal so possibly same filter too
Thanks for the heads up 😀
You can get a filter for it it’s a Chinese motor cycle filter
