  • Hey Everyone,
    Will it Run???
Welcome to the channel and a special video on a Suzuki GSXR 1100 that has been left untouched in a garage "Barn" for approximately ten years!
Question is, can we get it started!! I hope you enjoy this video of me showing you the bike and how we progress with trying to get it started. I will be doing a series on this bike so please follow along as we try and get this bike back on the road.
    Timecodes:
    0:00 - Intro.
0:33 - Walk around the bike & a quick clean.
    2:18 - Into the workshop.
15:27 - Trying to fire the bike.
16:27 - Rebuilding the fuel tap.
    25:50 - Will it run?
    27:05 - Outro
Thank you so much for watching.
    * Please note that all work undertaken is done so at your own risk, this video is for general information purposes only*

I saw Kevin Swantz race the actual Lucky Strike no. 34 Suzuki many times at Donington, Silverstone and Brands. He was the Marc Marquez of the late 80's / early 90's. So acrobatic that they named the corner after him at Donington where we saw him almost lose the bike. The number 34 was retired from MotoGP numbering with him.

If the fuel supply valve was clogged you definitely need to check the carbs as well. I'd would have done it anyway. Used to have an air/oil cooled GSXR-1100 back in the nineties btw. You seem to have a good taste 😉

Sounds like the pilot jets are a little fured up but not serious, the lumpy running will mostly be the airbox rubber. Once that is back on you could balance the carbs but I would leave it until after filters, oil change and checking the valves as you will need to do it again after those anyway. Looks like it was a well cared for bike, all the bolts are OEM which are the first place a bodger starts spoiling things.

Thanks for the comment, I believe it was well looked after and like you mentioned it's great to see mostly genuine bolts, I will probably grab a fairing bolt kit as they seem to be a bit mismatched. Yes, it will need some maintenance which I will film as well. The paintwork has some imperfections in places but overall is ok.

It definitely needs a good go over but like you say at least it hasn’t been “got at”

You’ll find it easier to get the tank on & off without the plastic part of the tap on 👍 I speak from experience of a gsxr1100wp 🤦🏻‍♂️

That is a Canadian bike, so it has 19,000 km, not miles. Also the two barbs on the petcock are fuel, the single is vacuum.

    • @TurningSpannerz
      @TurningSpannerz  5 місяців тому +1

I wasn’t initially sure which way round the pipe set up was as the two lines are plastic with no securing clips and the singular line is rubber with a securing clip which led me to believe it was fuel. Thanks for the heads up
