I'm also currently managing Valencia, a team that has fallen away from the top of Spanish football over the last decade - ofc they weren't exactly on par with Madrid and Barcelona though. I have never noticed the possibility to give the players I am out to bring on as substitutes a little pep talk. Where can I find that? Is part of a skin or something?

Great video I just have one question. Isn't the Poacher the one who creates the space behind him cause he's always trying to push defensive line lower and beat the defenders? Or you moved Nunez to AF to allow more horizontal moevement, opening the space for Szoboszlai to run in?

I feel like in this game more than the other ones strikers are absolutely terrible after their first season. This happened to me in a previous save where i managed Fiorentina and signed Joshua Zirkzee who was incredible in his first season and was the top scorer of Serie A above Osimen but after the first season he was absolute crap and missed open goals and pens all the time against crappy farmers clubs. Another example is when I managed Tottenham and I signed Viktor Gyokeres, he was amazing in his first season scoring hatrick after hatrick but then he just fell off after the first season. Its a joke

Fantastic video buddy. Folks often equate defensive play in FM to the impossible when it is in fact VERY possible with the right tactic, formation, roles, players, and opposition!

I manage Inter Milan in my FM23 save. If I'm playing against the likes of Man City and Liverpool, who we all know LOVE to harangue you for the ball, would it be wise to set my GK to SK-att to create that overload against a front three? Also, how do I outnumber the press in a 433?

This has been a very well explained, in depth video about defending in FM. Probably the best I've seen so far. I play a 433 possession tactic with Inter Milan in FM23 and I got trounced by Liverpool. I really don't want that to happen again, so I'm looking into mid block tactics. What formations work best in a mid block, other than the 433?

The cover for a CM on attack in an IWB on support. The wide player should provide the width. I'd also put my DM on support so that the midfield moves as a block.

Nice video and tactic, I use similar tactic 4-3-2-1 Christmas tree but sometimes I use yours as 1-2. I dont like to play with IW, IF so I like this narrow formation. What I do here is to choose corners players of middle three player in your tactic CAR and DLP opposite foot, your left DLP right footed so he can move to center and play killer balls. I mostly use RPM-BWM-VOL or VOL-DLP-VOL

Your videos are amazing even for experienced players The only thing i wish you would do better is to ypload more often some of them. Also do something that noone has done before Get a formation,for instance the 433dm and give ideas how to play it. For example a video with wingers ,another with inside forwards ,another with inverted wingbacks etc And do this as a series Then your.subscribers including me will conquer it,learn how to play with different ways etc Keep the amazing job man

True, if you play short passing, you need a narrow formation, and Inside forwards with the cut inside trait instead of Wingers .

In FM 24 you see your opponent AI playing long balls and switching sides like it was a cup of coffee. For us, trying to lift some balls in the air in open spaces behind their defense? A nightmare. I tried everything. It’s a rigged ME.

I noticed that some of your players have 1 1/2, or 2 1/2 stars for their roles only. Do you not care about this? Just green attributes?

I did the same thing for my AP in attack, set him to support to improve the spacing in midfield then set him to dribble more to ensure he wasn't too static and not contributing forwards. He was playing next to a CM in support and DM in support (with hold position enabled) in a 4-3-3 winger formation. Early signs are good but I need to play a few more games to know whether it will work or not.

How would you do corners if you had players who can't do headers? (very low jumping + heading attributes) I try to play short but my corner dude almost always gets the ball back is in offside.

The problem with atributes, CA, PA and all that is that its very easy to misinterpret and end up underperforming or over performing without really understanding why. Its understanding that its key. Atributes per position are weighted and then you derive the mean sum after you apply the weight modifier. That in theory gives you the CA. All good so far. It doesnt tell you the consistency of the player as you perfectly put in this video, nor the potential to reach it (professionalism, adaptability, etc) not does it tell you the type of player that you have and if they will succeed in your tactic. We all have a memory of that one player that regularly overperforms all your other signings that should in theory outshine that one dude. This is why. A physical af cb will not play the same as a very technical, confortable with the ball but still good at defense (due to other reasons than physicality) cb. This is the nature of the beast we are dealing with here. Ofc at 160+ CA this will matter less and less because the players get so good It mostly dont matter anymore

The reason you were not getting highlights after going attacking was that when you changed to attack, AI went defensive.

I also think an important factor is that new strikers won't immediately start scoring, especially if they're new to the country or don't speak the language or whatever. They need time to gel, time to learn the language, time to adjust to the tactic etc. In my current save I have a striker who frustrated me with his lack of goals last year when I signed him, and now is scoring every other game on average just as I'd hoped

your tactics never work. i used this tactic in atalanta, west ham and real sociadad. and I was in the relegation zone in all three of my careers.
