How I Create a Tactic - FM24

- You asked for it, so here it is! My general approach and thought process when I create a tactic with a team I have little knowledge about. How to analyze the squad, get the best players onto the pitch, then devise a plan and a cohesive approach based on the team's strengths, weaknesses, and club objectives.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments, especially if I should do another video after playing through for a full season and seeing how these initial thoughts and tactics hold up, as well as what tweaks I make as things unfold!

Started watching your vids last week. And i have to say i like this one the most. usually i'd look at my best players, set how i want to play (position, role, etc), fit them in, and then sign players for the weaker position. Never have i tried to set the positioning based on their strengh. gonna give this a try in my save now
New players often find Football Manager (FM) videos on UA-cam helpful. Here are some suggestions:
1. New players can get confused by the multitude of attributes in the game. Start with the player profile polygon to understand the player type and abilities. Gradually, they will comprehend specific attributes as they gain more experience. For tactical understanding, teach them to recognize and utilize players based on their profiles from the polygon.
For instance:
A. i. In defense, "No-nonsense Centre-back" like Kim Min-Jae or Diego Carlos, whose polygon points more towards defense only.
ii. Ball-playing defenders like Stones, Van Dijk, and Bastoni have polygons reaching into technical and vision aspects as well.
B. In striker, i. Traditional strikers like Victor Osimhen, whose polygon points towards attack with aerial presence.
ii. Creative strikers like Dybala, who excel in technical skills and vision.
C. i. In the midfield for creative attacking, players like Dani Olmo,
ii. Ball-winning players like Kante,
iii. Super passers like Jorginho
Players flourish according to their roles in balance tactics we need to balance everything to minimum and focus in attack balance or defence as per our requirement . There are also hybrid players with combinations of these roles. New players learning about players will benefit from the polygon in the early days.
2. When explaining tactics to new players, use simple player roles like CM, DM, and CD instead of more complex ones like carrilero, mezzala, or regista in early videos. Also, discuss the analysis panel on the left side of the tactic screen, which is a quick option to identify weak spots. Cover player individual tactical familiarity on the right panel and the whole team's tactics familiarity and intensity options on the right side of the tactic screen.
can you make a video on analysing a tactic, for example being a few games in and it isn't really working, what do we have to look for in order to find solutions e.g. in the data hub? great channel!

Dude very simple..look screen with tactic..by do way in fm is together formation and tactic ,look which is tactic best for your team,how do choose ,look chance for and chance against,eg 4-4-2 ..if you tactic create chance every 20 minute a against every 60 min it is good
Yeah I’ve got a tiki taka tactic I’ve made that dominates but my RW always underperforms and I’ve tried lots of different things to tweak it but can’t fix it and can’t see what the problem is in the data hub
I used to go with a tactic based on what my best players are. Now I take a look first how good my players are compared to the rest of the league and if I think we're bottom table quality, I'll go with a defense first formation. Then as we progress up the table I'll move the press further and gradually ramp up the possession with different roles and introducing more technical players. A good thing about the game and football in general is you can take any formation and arrive at any other depending on the players you have. You don't need more than three new starters to go from a counter attacking team to one that keeps the ball more.
If we are destined for relegation, or got promoted recently, I'm very likely to play a 3-5-2 (or 5-3-2). As we get better that can become a 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 or 3-4-3. Next season a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1.

I wish the 'Squad Planner' feature could be used here. That is, we could be able to drag and drop players into a space from the squad screen( Player -> reports)... and then finalize the formation and rank and the other things....

How do you change your tactics based on your opponent? Also, have you tried a save without the attributes visible? Great work, keep it up!
honestly I don't have the will to go attribute-less even though that's probably the most realistic way to play, haha! And I don't change before a game, but within a game I might use OI based marking or even deploy a support CM or something to manmark an opponent
Hi, I'd like to know, what are the player's "playstyles", such as intelligent, physical, creative. What do they really mean? Do they affect anything? Or they're just sum of certain player's stats such as off the ball or pace?
basically it just gives you an idea of what their strongest attributes are, and allows a few simple conclusions - creative playmaker would make a good playmaker, physical might be a BWM or B2B, etc. I'd ignore those descriptions and view the players through your own lens
Instead of "I wanna my team like that" could you explain the reason you choose that ? And also please explain another option too

It is very very complex quest how make tactic.. first look board vision..imagine ,your newbe in the club,you dont now by club,board wish "play attacking football",how do you play attacking football?it is mean shot on the goal,high tempo ..what formtaion for attacking footal,dont use 1 striker ..it is problem
That basically means they are asking you to get as many goal chances as possible.
