i dont think you realized this but you can make the rocket move while it is flying it follows the dot to turn in the air, so if you fire it and run back to cover the rocket will follow that movement and miss your target
So uh. How Shotguns Work in these games (this extends to Quake and a lot of Source games): -Each pellet actually does a consistent amount of damage. -At least 1 pellet will travel straight down your crosshair. -Each pellet beyond the 1 accurate one will deviate a certain amount of degrees. -Each pellet travel roughly 4096 Hammer units, the same has other hitscan weapons. You'll never encounter this far of a distance in Half-life with a clear straight line. Now for specifics for Half-life's SPAS (this also applies to the expansions and sequels): Do not treat this like a typical videogame shotgun; the single fire actually can be accurate up to mid-range, the while the double-fire has wider spread meant really to kill if you're in kissing range. The double shot isn't even a guaranteed kill on short-range since the spread is so wide, you'd have to be practically in melee range to deal lethal; this is the only viable situation. If you're dealing with enemies and you have to use the shotgun, use the single shot please. You'll also note that the single shot is faster to recover from so you can get more pellets down range. Here's some technical data about Half-life 1's SPAS-12 to help you judge when to use single or double shot: -Each pellet deals 5 damage -Single-shot has 6 pellets. -Double-shot has 12 pellets. -Single-shot has a tight spread, good up to medium range. -Double-shot has a very wide spread, only somewhat decent in close range. --- Also some soldiers, notable gas mask ones have helmets that need a damage threshold to bypass it. If you attempt a headshot, you need to make sure you deal over ~20 damage otherwise you don't deal damage at all. If you really wanna use the double-shot a lot, you have to land meat shots (very close up, aim for center mass). The Alien Grunts should be your practice for it since they're armored in a lot of places except the chest.
1:01:28 i wonder what the correct order of teleports to take is ^^
dude figuring out stuff faster and struggling less than the hl's dev Dario Casali did in his playthrough. well done, sir. You'll breeze through half-life 2 for sure 👌😎
The fight against the spec-ops ladies was the funniest shit, they trained them well. "Freeman you fool!" is a classic line though almost anything the scientists say is iconic. You should check out some of the "half life sfx" memes. I'd recommend "The Simpsons dubbed with Half-Life SFX", "Half-Life SFX: Resonance cascade at russian power plant" and pretty much anything involving cats.
Enjoying the content you make. Very cozy, keep it up. Happy New Year!
good stuff dawg, cant wait for more half life!
You can just move on from a fight you don't have to waste your ammo and health if you see a way out.
Im loving the series! You should play blue shift after this one.
I can’t wait for you to get to the ending
1:03:41. Those portals are all marked by numbers on the main teleporter area. Certain ones will take you to extra supplies, one takes you to certain death, and the rest are the actual ones you need to go through to progress.
I mentioned before that the ninja assassins only have stealth suits on hard difficulty. But another fun fact is that their models have "jiggle physics" (they are all female)
Once you beat hl1 you should play oposing force and blue shift ( in that order )
39:20 you can hear it. Since I don't think you will go and scan it, this is what the data sais: The deep roar emitted by the reaper at regular intervals is effectively sonar - if you can hear it, the reaper can see you. 51:00 that sound was your seamoth exploding 1:25:00 It will happen to any subnauteer at least once!
Damn, hard mode certainly didn't pull any punches in this one! Enemies are so much tankier on hard than they are on normal. I commend you for sticking with it, but there is a reason I would never recommend hard for a first-time playthrough. Glad you still seem to having a good time, though. I have some spoiler-free advice that might really benefit you up ahead: -You're unfortunately still missing out on some alternate fire modes. The secondary fire for the tau cannon (the one that shoots the orange beams) allows you to charge up shots to the point of them being powerful enough to shoot through walls and one-shot most enemies in the game. Just don't let it overcharge! The hivehand (bee gun) secondary fire lets you fire hornets at much higher speeds albeit without their tracking ability, which is useful for quick bursts of high DPS that cost no ammo. And if you see the red laser dot where you're aiming while using the RPG, that means you have the guidance system on and rockets will attempt to steer towards where you're aiming instead of just traveling in a straight line. Secondary fire toggles that on or off. -You unfortunately didn't really use the gluon gun at all during that last chapter, which is a bummer as it would've absolutely shredded those alien grunts (the bee-shooting gigachads). The gluon gun shreds through everything at the cost of burning through ammo rapidly, but you're pretty well-stocked right now. -The long jump module does not actually have any cooldown. You can even chain consecutive long jumps indefinitely if you really get the hang of using it. -These next chapters were unfortunately worked on late enough in development that Valve never had the chance to properly playtest them. As a result, the balancing in them can really be off, the signposting can really be lacking (there's an entire optional stealth route built into one of the maps that's so poorly signposted that I didn't even know it existed for the longest time), and hard mode will obviously not make matters any easier. You're going to _really_ want to take your time in how you approach each and every new area - even moreso than usual. You'll want to try your best to figure out what to do in each area before proceeding, and exploration can be very rewarding as always. -You technically already saw it, but the alien controllers (floating megaminds) have an easy-to-miss but very dangerous special attack that they only perform when you're close, and it involves them opening up their heads and firing a larger ball of energy than usual. That larger ball of energy then homes in on you and zaps you even if you're still a short distance away from it, and it can be almost impossible to avoid despite being slower than a normal energy balls. So be very careful with that enemy type. -And finally, one last special tip for the levels ahead, which is that if you encounter any vortigaunts (the electric alien slaves with the green collars) and you happen to have them in your sights before they've even begun to charge up an attack, you might want to take the opportunity to just observe them for as long as you can before you act. They can exhibit some interesting behavior throughout the game and up ahead in particular which can be very easy to miss. Cheers, and good luck up ahead! Edit: Also, I highly recommend using the walk button (shift) whenever imprecise movement might cause you any kind of trouble! And consider giving Opposing Force or Blue Shift a try on normal mode. It's also worth noting that Half-Life 2's hard mode isn't _quite_ as punishing as Half-Life 1's when you eventually get there.
Doesn't Doruk already have the 100k if he inserts all the jewels into the crown?
- regarding the rocket launcher, when you have the laser turned on (use alt fire to turn off laser) you can use the mouse pointer to move the rocket. if the laser is turned off, the rocket just goes straight - Now that you are in Xen, make sure to reload all your weapons before picking up the supply to maximize the ammo you can have for them. this place is unforgiving as resources are scarce. - long jump has no cooldown iirc. you can just spam ctrl+space every after another one (you need your feet on the floor first)
When you just entered xen, a weird sound played, that is something speaking to you. It plays few more times. What is said has meaning, so try to understand what is.
will you play half-life opposing force and blue shift and half-life 2
yes!
@@DorukPlaysGames also play half-life alpha
I’ve had your videos playing in the background, I commend you for starting your first play through on hard. Something I noticed the game isn’t good any telling you is a lot of the weapons have a secondary mode via the right mouse (like grenades for the mp5). I think the pistol shoots rapid fire and gauss gun charges for a more powerful shot. After this though you should play Black Mesa!
32:55 these gals are tricky.
Love your videos!
This might be the best Half-Life blind let's play out there. Nobody that I know of has been this good at discovering things and understanding what things are, not to mention the fact you do all this on hard difficulty. I hope you'll play all the other games (there are 2 to 8 more games depending on what you count)
You can turn off the laser on the rocket launcher if you need to shoot and cover. The laser can mess up your shot if you do it like this with the laser turned on.
I have never seen anyone using the hivehand so effectively on these snarc pods. Had I thought of it I wouldn't have such trauma with them.
56:51 When reaching the portal segment of this chapter, look through a window after coming across the security guard. G- Man will walk through a portal.
Haha 59:33 was so unnecessarily cool, never knew you could do that. Also yeah the alien grunts aren't that fun to fight for me either, I don't remember there being that many of them, 4 in 1 room feels so overkill for such a chonky guy.
Oh and happy new year!
Thank you! Happy New Year!
The bee-men are officially called "Alien Grunts"
I like the play through my friend :). I have a non related question for you. That record player in the backround is it functional? just curious. Give me a demo ;)
It does work! Pretty poor sound quality tho to be honest with you.
not to backseat your game but the rockets are homing, the red dot is where they try to go, that's why you missed a few times. You missed the rocket "tutorial" due to a glitch with the helicopter and half life isn't great about teaching things in the first place compared to modern games "The HECU RPG fires a powerful contact-fused rocket. The user can optionally turn on a guiding laser that directs it to the target."
Yeah. In Half-life 2 it's actually VERY important to know that information about it's game's rocket launcher.
I'm so, i don't know, happy, every time i see you post new half life videos! I really hope you would play Blue shift and Opposing Force before hl2 thought, because they are another view on black Mesa incident in hl1 and there are expanding world of the game.
Yup. He should definitely play Opposing Force and then Blue Shift. The latter actually leads nicely into Half-Life 2 in a way.
One thing I’ve noticed watching far too many let’s plays of this game is people are weirdly reticent making storage lockers. In every game I play sorting out storage is priority 1. I’m really curious why nobody does? Leaving base with your inventory full is just a waste of time. Make like 5 or 10 lockers and unload every time you come home.
Dude! Im re-living Half Life thanks to you! Thank you! Hope you have a great new year!
Thank YOU, happy new year!
"I don''t know what anomalous means." Oh this is going to be a wild ride.
*Look Gordon, Ropes! We can use these to help with big pits!*
I do enjoy most of the pro-love/humanity aspects to the story, but I agree it does get a bit weird at times. Pretty sure there are multiple writers, especially for the later games, but they consistently discuss topics like love and humanity all alongside weirdly sexual/fetishized characters, so I’m sure everything follows Hideo’s direction even if he didn’t write every word. Can’t wait to see you finish this one and start MGS2, but please do consider playing Fallout (‘97) and Fallout 2 (‘98) if you haven’t already.
I'll be honest I have a lot of stuff in the backlog, so will likely be a while before I even get a chance to play them, but will keep them on the radar!
The verbal double-take of "that's a grenade" really did me in.
Doruk, just be your authentic self, im enjoying this playthrough. Your honest opinion is more important, and its rather funny
34:05 as every Military Department knows, if you don't use up your munitions-budget, you wont get it next year!
You said "I'm surprised this game hasn't been remade". It was remade but it's only available on the Gamecube. It's called Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes.
1:20:28 & 1:34:01 Do you remember Crouch-Jump training in the beginning?
the mines WE can avoid haha
And you laughing makes it funny dude haha I laugh aswell
I handled this bit by not playing on hard mode. And mostly not using the terrible SMG.
Playing on hard mode and running head-first into every headcrab is certainly a vibe.
1:09:10 how would it know where to find gold on an alien planet?
Don't underenstimate the knife: Everythign in this game can be taken out by the knife (except for one)
textures are unreal good. No subnautica will be unreal (engine)good
Congrats! You foudn the mesage about scannign that99% off the people can't be arsed to read.
there's a glitch where the apache gets caught in the explosions after firing rockets too close to the cliff.
The fact you managed to clear Surface Tension without the midlevel supply cache is insane.
