yay! First real ps1 dive! I'm stoked for this. this is always my favorite part of anyone's channel! Please keep a classic running alongside anything else you play! (dont do only classic gaming, but bring us some of your favorites from childhood. not every playthrough has to be blind: especially on classic gaming!!)
Just like in SH2 Enhanced Edition, you can either kick or stomp enemies on the ground. Kicking happens when you tap A button (like how you most likely did in the end portion of the video when you figured out one of Harry's finishing moves), but holding the A button executes an alternative stomp. It doesn't matter which one to use when finishing enemies though, but it's there only as an optional variation for the player to choose from. So, if you wish to add a little nice flavour to your playstyle here and there, that's how you do it, haha.
I know you don't want to hear this but full price for SH2 Remake is 100% worth it. It'le probably go on sale at the end of the month though so look out.
In order to enjoy SH1, you need to forget everything you know about SH2. No personal demons, no trauma, no guilt. This is just a horror mystery. It is NOT about Harry. Characters have absolutely nothing in common with characters of SH2. Plot is completely and radically different. So, enjoy the story, enjoy the mystery. Actually you would enjoy it much more if you did not play SH2 first
The opening cutscene shows how the crash happened. Silent Hill 1 takes place in north side of the lake, in old Silent Hill. The game is mostly linear. You did not do anything wrong, the only way to go the school was through the door.
This one has a little bit more exploration of the town than 2, but it isn't that intense, you are doing fine. And there is analog support, you can configure it in the emulator
keep adding comments. :D Silent hills personalized hell aspect is over influencing you. your reading in aspects silent hill hadnt settled on yet. this version of silent hill is less personal hell. its alot more about demonic influence and the cult. the overly personalized aspect that is signature of silent hill was a 2 not a 1 invention. there are still definitely aspects that tie into harry's psyche, but this is alot more about the little girl and gives you one of the clearest least influenced looks at the plot. for example, those enemies aren't reflections of harry's particular psyche but are just standard hell hounds and harpies inspiration from standard demonic myth... unless they are tying back to dante and doin a REALLY deep cut and there is some aspect of suicide here i am missing. (in dante's inferno both hell hounds and harpies appear in the 7th circle forest of suicides.... but now i think *i am* the one reading to deep.) would love to see other commenters opinions on this specifically without getting too spoilery. version of silent hill is less personal h
You didn't do anything wrong, school is the place you should go anyway. And the opening that you kept skipping on the game's initial screen shows how Harry crashed the car and woke up on silent hill, and as if it were part of the game's opening

It is not always opening on the start screen. It is mostly bits of gameplay, and rarely intro scene
