This might be the best Half-Life blind let's play out there. Nobody that I know of has been this good at discovering things and understanding what things are, not to mention the fact you do all this on hard difficulty. I hope you'll play all the other games (there are 2 to 8 more games depending on what you count)
If you want to shoot the *rocket launcher* and hide behind a corner, you have to *deactivate the laser guidance* first! (Right-click) You constantly have laser guidance activated and you wonder why you hit nothing with the rocket launcher after dodging behind cover: the rocket follows the laser; you changed it's flight path involuntarily.
I'm so, i don't know, happy, every time i see you post new half life videos! I really hope you would play Blue shift and Opposing Force before hl2 thought, because they are another view on black Mesa incident in hl1 and there are expanding world of the game.
Haha 59:33 was so unnecessarily cool, never knew you could do that. Also yeah the alien grunts aren't that fun to fight for me either, I don't remember there being that many of them, 4 in 1 room feels so overkill for such a chonky guy.
Great video!!! The entire half life franchice has been a special interest of mine for at least a few years so i've been EATING UP these videos, can't wait for more!! Did you know that the npcs are coded in such a way that they can speak to eachother by selecting random pre-recorded lines? They're one of my favorite parts of the game. Happy new years!
In Xen ammo is limited so use the Hivehand on all the lower tier enemies like headcrabs, barnacles, snarks, and even houndeyes and vortigaunts when you can. The Hivehand also has an alt fire mode that rapid fires a burst of hornets but they have less range and they don't track enemies. It's kind of a good panic weapon when you're really in a tight spot or run in to an enemy accidentally at point blank. Also the Tau Cannon has an alternative fire that you need to hold to charge up, it uses more ammo than the default firing mode but fires a round roughly equivalent to an RPG rocket. The longer you charge the more powerful the payload, and it's almost always an insta kill. The tau cannon is particularly useful against the bee guys, but at this point in the game the Gluon Gun is just as effective and more probably more reliable.
dude figuring out stuff faster and struggling less than the hl's dev Dario Casali did in his playthrough. well done, sir. You'll breeze through half-life 2 for sure 👌😎
- regarding the rocket launcher, when you have the laser turned on (use alt fire to turn off laser) you can use the mouse pointer to move the rocket. if the laser is turned off, the rocket just goes straight - Now that you are in Xen, make sure to reload all your weapons before picking up the supply to maximize the ammo you can have for them. this place is unforgiving as resources are scarce. - long jump has no cooldown iirc. you can just spam ctrl+space every after another one (you need your feet on the floor first)
1:03:41. Those portals are all marked by numbers on the main teleporter area. Certain ones will take you to extra supplies, one takes you to certain death, and the rest are the actual ones you need to go through to progress.
The fight against the spec-ops ladies was the funniest shit, they trained them well. "Freeman you fool!" is a classic line though almost anything the scientists say is iconic. You should check out some of the "half life sfx" memes. I'd recommend "The Simpsons dubbed with Half-Life SFX", "Half-Life SFX: Resonance cascade at russian power plant" and pretty much anything involving cats.
I think fighting the Shark in Forget about Freeman is an alternate solution, because it's corpse swims like a box and can be used to cross the grate. Going under the Cogwheel is however strictly better. If you have enough health to swim up under the Steam you can even find a hidden HEV-Charger behind a door that must be opened with the crowbar.
In case you haven't noticed, all the rooms with the reactor are the same thing and you're gradually going up. From the bottom (flooded area) to the top (teleporter area). Thought it was cool.
not to backseat your game but the rockets are homing, the red dot is where they try to go, that's why you missed a few times. You missed the rocket "tutorial" due to a glitch with the helicopter and half life isn't great about teaching things in the first place compared to modern games "The HECU RPG fires a powerful contact-fused rocket. The user can optionally turn on a guiding laser that directs it to the target."
I mentioned before that the ninja assassins only have stealth suits on hard difficulty. But another fun fact is that their models have "jiggle physics" (they are all female)
23:40 When I last replayed this on Hard this was the hardest part of the game for me. By some margin. I think I wasn't that high on health/charge and I was probably out of most of the "good stuff" as well.
You can turn off the laser on the rocket launcher if you need to shoot and cover. The laser can mess up your shot if you do it like this with the laser turned on.
It just occurs to me that I only remember the shotgun being more effective is because most of my memory is from Normal where everything has less health. On Hard it seems much closer to the Doom 3 shotgun.
i dont think you realized this but you can make the rocket move while it is flying it follows the dot to turn in the air, so if you fire it and run back to cover the rocket will follow that movement and miss your target
I’ve had your videos playing in the background, I commend you for starting your first play through on hard. Something I noticed the game isn’t good any telling you is a lot of the weapons have a secondary mode via the right mouse (like grenades for the mp5). I think the pistol shoots rapid fire and gauss gun charges for a more powerful shot. After this though you should play Black Mesa!
I like the play through my friend :). I have a non related question for you. That record player in the backround is it functional? just curious. Give me a demo ;)
56:51 When reaching the portal segment of this chapter, look through a window after coming across the security guard. G- Man will walk through a portal.
When you just entered xen, a weird sound played, that is something speaking to you. It plays few more times. What is said has meaning, so try to understand what is.
The bee-men are officially called "Alien Grunts"
I love how Xen is introduced, right away it's like "Oh, they sent other guys like me in here before."

I have never seen anyone using the hivehand so effectively on these snarc pods. Had I thought of it I wouldn't have such trauma with them.
Enjoying the content you make. Very cozy, keep it up. Happy New Year!
Dude! Im re-living Half Life thanks to you! Thank you!
Hope you have a great new year!
Thank YOU, happy new year!

Yup. He should definitely play Opposing Force and then Blue Shift. The latter actually leads nicely into Half-Life 2 in a way.
Haha 59:33 was so unnecessarily cool, never knew you could do that.

good stuff dawg, cant wait for more half life!
Im loving the series! You should play blue shift after this one.

The dead scientist at 1:01:29 had the correct order of the teleporters written on the floor.
Those flying aliens are Alien Controllers.
Once you beat hl1 you should play oposing force and blue shift ( in that order )
32:55 these gals are tricky.
Love your videos!

"The HECU RPG fires a powerful contact-fused rocket. The user can optionally turn on a guiding laser that directs it to the target."
Yeah. In Half-life 2 it's actually VERY important to know that information about it's game's rocket launcher.
I mentioned before that the ninja assassins only have stealth suits on hard difficulty. But another fun fact is that their models have "jiggle physics" (they are all female)

I can’t wait for you to get to the ending

1:01:28 i wonder what the correct order of teleports to take is ^^
fun fact: That alien turret is the only one in the entire game!
Have you discovered yet that the bazooka is laser guided and you can turn off the laser for just straight firing with right mouse button? :)
will you play half-life opposing force and blue shift and half-life 2
yes!
@@DorukPlaysGames also play half-life alpha
Should check out Half Life: opposing force, after this one.
I like the play through my friend :). I have a non related question for you. That record player in the backround is it functional? just curious. Give me a demo ;)
It does work! Pretty poor sound quality tho to be honest with you.
Are you going to play the expansions after completing this game or start half life 2 instead? Happy New Year btw
You can just move on from a fight you don't have to waste your ammo and health if you see a way out.
