How Uber Hates Their Own Drivers
Friends, do you think it's too strong to say Uber despises drivers? I'm going to share two vital tips to help protect your interests when you contact customer support. Now, if you've already interacted with Uber's customer support agents, I think you know they do despise you. I was very irritated with UberEats customer support on a recent failed delivery (no fault of my own). The offer was $20 going three miles. Those are great earnings! This isn't the first time that I've been treated exceedingly poorly by UberEats customer support agents and so I'll briefly share what happened and then give you two vital tips to help when you contact Uber's customer support.
Thank you for sharing feedback on your experiences with Uber / UberEats customer support.

The hidden risks of using your personal payment method on Instacart
This type of scenario happens when: 1. The Driver who took the order stole the food, didn't mark the order as picked up on their phone and canceled it instead (Instant free food). Cancelling it on your own before marking it as picked up will make the order available to the other Driver. 4 Driver that will arrive at the store is the max number of reassigned. So the 4th Driver who arrived can cancel it and that will be the permanent cancellation. 2. The Driver who took it left the store and didn't ensure that it is indeed marked as picked up. The app will think they are leaving the store without the order so after a few minutes of the order not being marked as picked up, the app will unassign the order to them and will be made available to other Drivers. That Driver who took the order will then call support asking why the order is removed on their account but they still got the food. Support will advise them to just throw the food away especially if they are already far from the store. 3. The store's pin location is incorrect so Drivers who will pick up the order will have a hard time marking it as picked up because the app will keep on saying they are not at the store even though they already got the food. This will also confuse the app and will think that the Driver is only playing and not driving to the store so it will remove the order and assign it to other Drivers after minutes of inactivity. How to prevent this: 2 parties are only needed to do it constantly. 1. Stores should ensure their pin location on Uber eats is correct, they should ensure Drivers marked the order as picked up after giving the food. 2. Drivers should not be a Karen and marked it as picked up in front of the store staff, Drivers should also ensure they marked it as picked up in the app by refreshing it for poor network areas. 3. Uber is no longer needed if the other 2 options are made properly.

I had an unresolved issue once and went to Twitter. I started mentioning board members and and department heads. I got a phone call from a US-based engineer pretty quickly.

Drivers, what's your advice when dealing with Uber's customer support agents? I trust you enjoyed today's helpful tips and hopefully you get paid something when deliveries go wrong. Russ. 👍🏻
Russ, thank you for your time and advice making this video. I have only done one shop and deliver myself because it was a very bad experience which basically took nearly an hour and I made something like $5. I know there is probably a learning curve and that's why I'm watching videos like yours. I had a slight issue finding the item, store employees had no idea what it was (2 boxes of medical type gloves), I had trouble scanning them, then the store's pos wouldn't take my uber one card. I called support and they said I could use my card and get reimbursed, then had trouble finding the dropoff and when I did the person who I was supposed to deliver to was not there. I also don't know if I ever got reimbursed and not sure how to find out. I do have a specific question. I currently am earning 5% on my Discover card at grocery stores, so have thought about using it to pay, but not sure about the reimbursing time and so forth. Any thoughts?
You've already seen how UberEats treats you so I don't recommend you use your personal card at all. Most (all?) of the apps don't allow you use use your personal cards or rewards programs. It's a good way to get deactivated. So, although tempting to get a little extra by using your card I wouldn't trust UberEats to reimburse you. On Instacart I've used my personal card and got reimbursed fine and then I didn't want an order to go to waste and so I used my personal card to get the customer what they wanted (which didn't match with the app). I ended up getting stuck with the $30 purchase. So.... Plus thinks of all the unpaid time you'll waste interacting with Uber Eats.... Yes, there is a learning curve and I've had terrible orders like that too. Do a few more until you are proficient and then you'll know the time commitment it takes to do these orders vs. food delivery. Russ
@@TheRussRyde Thanks for your reply. I don't know how they would know or even care if I used my card that got me rewards, they're paying me the same either way and they told me I could use my card to pay for the one I did do, and they were actually fairly good once I decided to call them.
@@whitepaladin1959 That's good, give it a try then. If you ever do Instacart never use any sort of your rewards cards. If you don't mind, please let me know how the UberEats reimbursement process goes over time. I think I've only done it once... Russ

@@Abears_ I hope you get an order. Are you on other gig apps to be able to make money as well?
@@TheRussRyde I been doing gig work for 5+ years and on spark for 3 years. Do they expect you to wait in the parking lot for the full 2 hour block?
@@TheRussRyde I got 1 going 5 miles. Was just 3 bags
Ya, getting a case of beer is one thing but multiple products is a recipe for disaster. You mention minutes when fuel is measured in mileage. There are +'s and -"s with the Uber app. Customer service is not the greatest, mostly giving apologies instead of solutions. Waste of time. Just picking up an order at pickup in Walmart parking lot is not worth it. Most Uber fares I like are short trips for max pay. This not only increases payout but decreases expenses ie fuel. You mentioned doing 4 of these per hour gives $32, but you fail to mention that not likely you will get 4 milk runs in that hour and also not considering expenses and taxes. $32 gross say travelling 6 miles each trip roughly gives about $20 net. This kind of system will only benefit Uber and the possibly the customer. Why? Uber takes a portion no matter what, the customer gets the product or compensation. You do all the leg work for minimal pay and time and headache. I had to return a whole grocery order to Walmart at my own expense and Uber gives a couple of bucks. This may have changed a bit on the receipt end but not worth it. My way is 5 to 6 trips an hour at $5 makes $25 to $30 gross with less headache. The acceptance rate is sometimes the Achilles heal. Low rate gives crappy fares, sometimes but it comes down to strategy. The Algorithm is a bit of a learning curve. Stay in one spot, move to a busy area, not necessarily a Hot Zone. Less drivers more fares! Even if my acceptance rate is 50% and I'm the only one at that particular restaurant or store, guess what! Also Uber and customer picked locations, closing times are a consideration. Restaurant closes at 9pm near customers house and no driver there, but you are at another location where restaurant is still open or has later close time. This is where the distance and fare game is played. I've seen $5 for going 25 miles. Profit $0 and maybe you even pay to deliver to keep your acceptance rate. Be choosy! Strategize! and make money, why else are you doing this?
@@lionheart082766 All wise advice! Thank you. Yes actually I think now I can do three per hour and that’s only if they send the orders. Expenses kill us for sure. I like the idea of moving around and never to the fake hot zone. Russ

Hi Russ, I’ve never driven before, and I wanted to know how many gallons of gas I would need on average if I were to work full-time as a Flex driver for Whole Foods or warehouse deliveries. I currently live in Los Angeles, CA. Thanks.

The only thing miserable about UberEats shop and pay is the same with Instacart, and that’s those miserable customers that you shop perfectly for and then they reduce your tip, by a significant amount of money for no apparent reason.
Do you get many delivery request for whole food amazon flex per day?
No, but I think based on another viewer’s comment that I would be able to schedule them in advance if I took the package orders too and build up my points in their system to get priority when scheduling blocks. Russ

Really sound advice, including many useful tips that I have not thought of after doing food delivery for several months. I think your videos are the best of any food delivery driver channel on UA-cam (and I have seen lots of them). One question: Do you take one photo of deliveries via the delivery app, e.g. DoorDash, and then a second photo with the time stamp camera app you mentioned?
Thank you! I am glad to be helpful. I take a pic in the delivery app and then my own in the timestamp app. I think there is a way to use the timestamp app and then attach that to the delivery app but I don’t like taking too long at the door. Plus I don’t want to accidentally send the wrong picture from the camera roll. Russ
How do you get in to aparments?
Usually the customer puts access info in the comments of the delivery. Or I will call them. Rarely I can get in by seeing someone and asking them to let me in. Or I’ll go to the leasing office. I really don’t like wasting so much time that way. Thank you for asking! Russ

I don't have the patience to get a 100% acceptance rate. Around here, I regularly see offers of $5 for 15 miles.
Hi John, those miles and pay are horrible! Prop 22 pay barely helps but if it wasn’t for a UA-cam video I wouldn’t do it. I’ll stick it out until it gets to 100% make another video about how many orders it took this time and then go back to cherry picking. Russ

They all show up in the same app without the driver's input or control. You can choose to accept or decline them. You can turn the shop and pay orders on or off in the app...not the rest. I hope this helps and thank you for asking for clarification! Russ

@@TheRussRyde Thank you again Russ! I just subscribed to your channel! A lot of driver talk about making money with multiple apps. Do you know if Uber allowed me to use their rental car for both Uber delivery and Doordash? i don't have my own car at the moment.

Worst for me is Walmart: vegs and fruits often bad quality, no help around, long line up. Best are Pharmacies, quick in-and-out: often stoners orders:- just a couple of candy bags and drinks.
