Hey Russ! This is a great topic! Omg how scary it is for parents knowing the sex traffickers out there using Uber! Omg! Great topic to share awareness Russ!
@@TheRussRyde it’s very very scary! I will share this video to my viewers and make sure they also get some ideas and awareness, I have two daughters and I couldn’t imagine the vulnerability of these kids when they go for a ride to school or a friend’s house 🥹
Yes, although Singapore is likely far more safe than here. But everyone needs to realize that children could be manipulated easily. Drivers should be exceedingly alert for things that appear wrong.
@@TheRussRyde yes it’s a very safe place and this won’t happen here, but still worth talking about it so when the kids leave Singapore for holiday perhaps and we know that when we get out of this bubble, it’s a dangerous place out there with predators everywhere🥹
Yup, this happens! Even doordashers can be involved. I used to like to go out and deliver early in the am. And there were quite a few suspicious deliveries to motel rooms. Good video!
@@SideGigGuy That is also sad to hear. Thank you for sharing this though as it is another data point that this type of deplorable behavior does happen. Russ
I did rideshare for 2 1/2 years and stopped when the pandemic started. I made it a point to never take a unaccompanied minor in my car ever. If you get into a wreck, rideshares insurance would not cover it and something to think about, all a minor would have to say is, "he touched me" and if you dont have a dashcam in your car, you could be in real trouble. Finally make no mistake, rideshare companies dont give a damn about their drivers.
@@TheRussRyde Yes! Ive asked her to share your channel to all her friends who can learn from this and be warned, its very important for our kids to be aware to prevent being in scary situations, just terrifying to even think about what these youngsters can be exposed to if they are not warned and educated ahead of time
I had a maybe 13/14 year old kid in Malibu just get in the back of my car once. Had to chew his ass out because I was just visiting a friend and parked to wait for them. I had no indication I was a ride share. Explained that he needs to double check the vehicle I wasn't the same color or make/ model of his Uber. He apologized but told him it's not about that. It's your safety. I could have taken you up the canyon without cell service and Lord knows what held for ransom , who knows. Hope he's doing better after that
@@MAN31256 That is telling for sure! I am not surprised by this, but clearly he wasn’t living in reality. Unreal. Thank you for sharing this insight! Russ
It is ridiculous for Uber to require a person who has a severe allergy to dogs or asthma to transport them. It could also be a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act in some cases. The ADA requires reasonable accommodations in the workplace. One could argue that being able to refuse dogs would be reasonable for some drivers with illnesses. Would be interesting to see this litigated.
The issue is that Uber doesn't have employees, only contractors. This means they can set whatever terms of the contract are required, including requirements to accept all passengers that meet their app requirements or whatever, and then people seeing those requirements are free to choose to become an Uber driver or not. It may upset some people but it is not in any legal way of violation of the ADA
So I have someone on Uber who requested a ride that had two stops the first stop was them feeding the ladies cat and the second stop was going to his house well the weird thing was is that his house was literally two houses right next to the lady that had the cats well then why did he even need to have two stops do you think this is suspicious or do you think that the person was new to the platform because he told me this was his first ever Uber trip
Trust your instincts! Your life and safety are far more valuable than any customer’s expectations. I don’t know but since you were there you would be the best judge of nervous or worse behavior. Once someone is in the car it’s harder to resolve the situation. Timing of these details is important too. Russ
It's actually illegal to question someone's age. Falls under age discrimination. That's why in my state it is up to the user to be honest. Even the curfew for minors in our state cannot be enforced by police officers. Only after a minor commits a crime can they then add on the curfew violation.
Hi Connor, I would argue this type of law refers to employment. An example is not hiring an old person because they would be slow and cost too much in health insurance. Or, not hiring a minor because you can't work them as long. In your state I'm sure you have to show ID to purchase alcohol. So treat it the same way and if the passenger wants a ride, then he or she will happily show you ID. Thank you for sharing this and let me know what you think. There are real consequences from unaccompanied minor rides that are far more certain than a what if about challenging someone's age. Russ
@@TheRussRyde Our state is not a stop and ID state. Can only require ID as a law enforcement officer with reasonable articulatable suspicion of a crime. I wish every rider had to show ID. I have picked up so many that you know that are using a fake name or nickname.
@@connerthomas3840 Wow! In that case you might consider accepting the fallout of just cancelling the ride when you see the rider looks underage. I trust you use a dashcam that takes video inside and outside your car for your protection….
