WPL C64 1 with flip front and 370 motor
Couldn´t resist buyimg a C64-1 but wanted it to be a little more capable in terrain. I made a flip front for front mounted battery, much better weight distribution. A 370 motor from WPL 2-speed gearbox was added, fits perfect, just had to press the pinion about 2 millimeters more in on the axle. Soft kit tyres on wider rims and the stock radio/esc. Torque and low speed control is amazingly good for being an almost stock truck!

WPL B16 tipper with res v3 radio

I wanted to try the WPL Res v3 radio and soundcard on my modified B16 with tipping bed, because the winch control seemed like a good way to control the tipping mechanism and it is 3s capable. Does it work? Yes, very good, I must say. The winch control is perfect for tipping and the 3s capability is needed to power the truck in terrain, as it is quite heavy and has bigger wheels than the origina...

The stock wheels on my WPL-based rc Toyota FJ40 had a nice scale look but didn´t do too well on wet and slippery surface. I had some spare parts: A chassis from JJRC Q65, axles and radio from WPL B14, cab from MN45 and a 180 motor with gearbox from Fayee FY01. Nice opportunity to build a radio-controlled miniature of a classic Toyota FJ40 with flatbed. I am really happy with the result. Not least that it is really good off-road despite the small 180 engine and the simple electronics. Plus it didn't cost me anythin...

I bought myself one more (for the second time) JJRC Q65 to modify. My first vision was a low and wide ratrod type conversion, but then I would have to buy gearbox, motor, receiver and some more things. My second thought was to use my heavily modified MN45 chassis with high speed 370 motor, 2-speed gearbox and shocks with damping. The wheelbase on the chassis was just perfect so I built a JJRC Q...

This one I will keep more original than the first one and, most of all, not buy a lot of upgrade parts. I will almost 100 % use material that is left over in...

I had an idea of modifying a WPL B14 to a lower profile, not exactly a lowrider, but low and stable. The tyres I use are soft WPL V1, the kit type tyres, with added foams to keep the profile better. • @Georgieframe
      @Georgieframe 12 днів тому

      Hello! I can recommend it! I use a wpl standard 370 motor from a 2-speed gearbox (in which I´ve put a brushless motor) and I am pleasantly surprised with how it performs. I just had to press the pinion about 2 millimeter further in on the shaft, then it fits perfect in the gearbox. With the stock radio/esc it has fantastic low speed control and the power is more than enough for climbing the steepest obstacles. It´s not fast but for crawling and driving in tough terrain it´s perfect! 👍👍😊😊

      @@Georgieframeto put a 2 speed transmission in this, the remote and esc would have to be upgraded correct? Sorry for all the questions, this is my first build and I’m trying to figure out what all I need to order.

    • @Georgieframe
      @Georgieframe 7 днів тому

      @@Im4evergrateful70 Yes, to put a 2-speed transmission in you must upgrade to at least 3-channel radio. There are some different options. Personly I like Dumbo RC 6-channel radio, which can also control winch and other extras. Then you also need a separat esc, preferably one that can handle 3s battery, if you want more speed. Also WPL RES-V3 radio works very good. It comes with a sound module, can shift gears and control a winch, also turn lights and sound on and off. It has combined receiver/esc unit and it can take 3s battery if you want. A downside is that with 2s battery it´s a little less powerful than a separate 40 or 60 amp esc. Good luck with your upgrades! 😊😊

    Hi can i use a 380 or 390 brushed motor on that wpL gearbox

    • @Georgieframe
      @Georgieframe 15 днів тому

      @@TomWest-ir5vq Hello! The simple answer is NO! I tried to use a brushed 390 on it and it got so hot that the built in cooling fan melted and the motor collapsed. The gearing was simply to high. I recommend using a WPL 2-speed gearbox instead, it's much better!

      @@Georgieframe what about a 380 brushed motor

    • @Georgieframe
      @Georgieframe 14 днів тому

      @@TomWest-ir5vq Wouldn´t recommend that either. This was a fun experiment when i modified an aftermarket singlespeed gearbox to use first a brushless 370 motor and then a brushed 390. None of them actually worked well, because the gearing was way too high. These gearboxes are made for mounting a 370 motor with reduction between the motor and gearbox, which means power at low speed but no high speed at all. If you want speed I recommend a WPL 2-speed gearbox, which kan take all kinds of 370 motors - brushless. normal brushed or high speed brushed motor, and deliver both low and high speed. Another option that can also work is getting an all metal gearbox (singlespeed) for D12, you can find it for example on Aliexpress, that can take different 370-type motors. This gearbox only have output för rear wheel drive but it can rather easily be modified with a longer outputshaft to support 4 wd.

    Wow, man - what an effective demonstration. We used to buy cheap ex- Army Land Rovers to play with off road. They would always come with 6:00-16 sized tyres,vans we'd replace these with 7:50-16s. These effected a similar transformation to the vehicle's capabilities and we always used to wonder why the Army would put the "wrong" tyres on them.

      @@Georgieframe I think they used them largely on-road. If you don't need off-road capability, then I guess it's worth taking advantage of the fact that tyres with a smaller outer diameter will offer better acceleration and braking.

    Hello! Predictably, I am utterly delighted by your creation. This is so much more interesting than simply buying a C44 kit, and I am most impressed by the outcome. Your stabilising brace for tge rear axle was an inspired move; I'm glad that it worked so well. If we had a once-a-month golden "thumbs up" for extra-specially excellent videos, I'd give it to this!

      @@Georgieframe How did you extend the wheelbase? By how much? Did you use generic Amazon propshafts?

    • @Georgieframe
      @Georgieframe 6 місяців тому

      @@Del350K4 The wheelbase is extended from 193 to 227 millimeters (approximately). I did it very simply, moved the suspension brackets as far forward and back as possible on the frame and drilled new holes. I use plastic drive shafts, extended using super glue, epoxy and shrink tubing. They still last, because it's a 180 motor. I may have to switch to metal eventually...

    • @Del350K4
      @Del350K4 6 місяців тому

      @@Georgieframe Ah! As you saw, I recently had to join two propshaft halves. My plastic half had ribbing running both along and around it. I didn't want to glue my "bridging sleeve' to just the edges of the ribs so I labouriously flooded each void with epoxy, let it harden, turned the shaft, flooded the next, etc. I also remember making use of superglue and baking powder (sodium bicarbonate) on that propshaft, too.

      Oh, no! This is terrible! I should've stocked up while I had the chance. They are not good truck's as supplied but they're the cheapest way to build s leaf-sprung big truck in 1:12 scale. My channel can't afford all those exquisitely made, very expensive ones from King Kong RC etc.

    Can I use the same esc and radio and Everythinng too

    • @Georgieframe
      @Georgieframe 6 місяців тому

      Hello! No, you can´t! If you want to go brushless you need a brushless motor, brushless esc and another radio, because the stock wpl radio has a combined receiver/esc. But another way to go is to buy a high speed brushed motor, like the one in the link below. It´s almost as fast as a brushless and you can use the standard wpl radio/esc - as long as you don´t install a 2-speed gearbox. Then you need a 3-channel radio for shifting gears. www.asiarcdepot.com/products/black-370-motor-high-speed-40-000rpm-upgrade?ref=RCMANIACS

      Hello! I found this link, that is unbelievly long, but I hope it works. The wheels on my car is also widened, using PET bottlenecks. Sadly I don´t have a video of how it´s done. Simple description: Cut the neck off a PET bottle, glue it to the rim with the "collar" as the outside, then glue the tire on. Of course these wheels are also good without widening! www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805606490331.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.pcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller.10.7c18t9gMt9gMai&gps-id=pcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller&scm=1007.40000.327270.0&scm_id=1007.40000.327270.0&scm-url=1007.40000.327270.0&pvid=9043acbb-7667-49f6-99ac-0ef31762314e&_t=gps-id:pcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller,scm-url:1007.40000.327270.0,pvid:9043acbb-7667-49f6-99ac-0ef31762314e,tpp_buckets:668%232846%238107%231934&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21USD%216.24%215.49%21%21%2144.76%2139.39%21%402103011417084222249784704e96d2%2112000034371545690%21rec%21US%212948913886%21AB&utparam-url=scene%3ApcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller%7Cquery_from%3A
