Love the video. Megatron is the boss tho 😂🙌🏾
Went in for the recall today. 2018 Acura Mdx. Honestly I wish they just replace my whole engine. I took the car in because it lit up like a Christmas tree all the warning lights came on. Codes were reading misfire in cylinder 3. Service consultant mentioned this might have nothing to do with the recall but that they’ll proceed to perform the recall and see what happens.
Dude hmu! I live right near that spot in DC! I would love to see this in person ❤
Next time!
Great video bro! Just curious if your buddy with the BBS gold e88 wheels is selling his wheels... I'll be very interested buying.
Thanks man! I don't think he has any plans on selling the wheels.. they're pretty tough to get these days. I'll ask him though.
@@NSXavier997 no worri thanks
Keep it on pump bro. We often over modify these cars and then at some point too far gone realize that we had gone too far. Keep it fun, keep it reliable. And you’re absolutely right about the power. I’ve always said anything over 500 on the street is just silly. Don’t over complicate it man, it’s sweet just how it is. Love the content.
Thanks! Yea I'm not sure what I'm going to do.. really need to sleep on it but what you said is 100% valid. I don't want to modify it to the point where it becomes something I no longer like or want. As it stands right now with the car making 600ish... with my novice driving skills...it proves to be unmanageable at times lol. Thanks for watching!
The infamous self debate "more power or stay content" lol. I've had that battle in the past but when I discovered a broken turbo it gave me reason to go more power. Currently at 629wtq and 616whp and it's more than enough. E85 woukd put me in the 700s but is annoying if not readily available so i just stay punp 93. I'm probably one of few that would say do the build because you want to tinckle and make content for your viewers but not to make gobs of power or if theres no real reason. Or leave the turbo alone and start another build or resto project. That's what I'm considering. Looking forward to what you decide.
@@alhuegayle7550 might go ham on aesthetics while also making bbq 😂
@NSXavier997 the front lip under tray you did is pretty cool. Do a DIY on that. Heck make a couple pieces and sell to a selected few and recoupe a little change. I might by one if I'm to lazy to make one my self one day. These turbo lips take a beaten.
What a sick car... love it.
nice easy going video! Have you done considering RWD conversion? I have a 4S and am on the fence about it
@@jeroenvanboxtel8801 I’ve thought about doing it but evidently it proves to be more difficult to do on 997’s than it is on 996’s.
@@NSXavier997 that is what I’ve heard. I have thought about doing it on my 996tt as well but I rarely do track days so I’m not sure if it’s worth it. On the other hand it’s pretty easy to return it back to original.
Great video
Wisconsin Ave. it looks like right next to the Thai Embassy. Used to enjoy frolicking around Georgetown at night. Can't wait to see your future builds. Always wanted a 966 Turbo. Thanks for the blogs, enjoyed them all
@@madsupervilian. 🤘🏽 glad I was able to spark some good memories of your old stomping grounds. 🍻
You should keep the 100% pump gas honestly. The car is perfect right now, fiddling with the small mechanic stuff and maybe some additional oem+ aesthetics is better!
@@akubudoy7 exaaaactly what plagues my mind everyday.
@@akubudoy7 agreed. It’s just about perfect. Keep it on pump fuel. Big power is fun but you really should be able to do a cross country road trip if you want to. A well balanced car is key.
What I do is plan a trip to get food somewhere not nearby and drive up with friends.
Needs the factory aero kit
Turbo build would be sweet to see
@@84jperez that option is definitely on the table. Just gotta really plan it out to make sure I don’t turn the car into something I don’t like anymore.
@@NSXavier997 I get it. It would really suck if it turned into something you didn’t like anymore.

@@maxelnoyl3597 that’s a story for another video.
I definitely look forward to hearing it.
Appreciate the detailed video bud. It's clear you're experienced and pay close attention to detail while staying organized. Not many do. Only word of advice: forget the naysayers - don't even waste your time addressing them. You're getting paid for your skills - they aren't. That's proof enough.
@@MeltingRubberZ28 appreciate this comment! 🫡
Great video!! I’m setting mine up (‘18 MDX Tech w/ 120k) with the dealer for the recall later this year. So is the new oil pump included in the fix? What other parts would you recommend replacing while in there? Water pump/Timing? Engine mounts? Also, every dry start, I hear metal scrapping for a second but stops when lubricated-do you think that could be caused by the crankshaft? Thanks!
Honda these days 👎💩
Easy work quick 8.9 hrs
Have a '21 Pilot with 36K. Hope my engine isn't affected. :-(
Have your local dealer run a VIN status inquiry.
👍👍
Excellent explanation of the recall and the reasons for it.. I'm subscribed now..
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the video and I really appreciate the sub. However, just know that the HONDA/ACURA content will be few and far between from here moving forward, as I only intend to post the failures and bad things that happens to these cars. The content on the channel will be heavily focused on PORSCHE 997 Turbo content along with an emphasis on Automotive Enthusiast culture.
@NSXavier997 that's fine.. the bad is the needed info especially since I currently drive only mdx's... 14.. 15.. 19.. 20.. the 19 hasn't been inspected yet.. 20 was end of year 20 and doesn't seem to be part of the recall.. might just upgrade the 19..
Honda accord v6 2017 ? Its a 9.5 generation ?
Very few Hondas are affected by this recall; its majority ACURA vehicles that are affected. You can have your local dealership run a VIN status inquiry for you to see if the recall applies.
Like you guys said, just swap one side for a few weeks. Then attend C&C :)
Your car is worth every bit of $124k and then some, because YOU'VE owned it!
Mine is at the dealership now. They asked me if I wanted to pay to have the timing belt replaced and the water pump. What do you suggest? I have 62k on a 2018 tlx aspec. I normally trade in at about 95k to avoid expensive repairs. Thank for your time. Great informative video.
@@LarryDoti I would say it’s worth it to do it even if you do trade in.

Superb! Really enjoyed this. Any chance of a DIY plugs and coils swap?
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video. Plugs and coils video will come when the car needs it. I’m about another 10k miles away from needing that done.

Garage/Toolbox tour.
yuppp. has to be done.
I support mullets in all forms, video format included. It's so cool seeing all the cars come through the house for a hang out!
That’s a lot but it’s mainly cosmetic or stuff you wanted to do. Maintenance wise it’s not a lot of money.
Agree but keep in mind that the labor was not factored into the maintenance cost.
Wheel swap was cool. They both looked great.
Im on the honda side and mannn i cant tell you im glad we dont have this going on over here. Ive done procedure A once on a ridgeline but only 3 affected hondas in my area according to out dpsm. Engine teardown and assembly is my favorite but not when you get paid peanuts.
I had my bearings replaced and changed the oil after 1,000 miles. I found lots of metal debris at the bottom of the drain bucket. Beware! Check your oil after this repair.
Good luck to you & your engine. Honda has absolved their liabilities on your engine from here moving forward.
@@NSXavier997 I traded it in on a new Lexus. The Acura service manager accused me of tampering with the oil, lying, and finally blamed me for the problem. Rather than fight that bastard, I dumped the car. It was a 2019 TLX with 30,000 miles in perfect shape.
@@slovack8x54 good move on trading it in. I wouldn’t want to own an Acura these days
