Willys Jeep 4 Speed Swap: Installing A Warn Overdrive!
Переглядів 2,9 тис.2 місяці тому
Willys Jeep 4 speed swap installing a warn overdrive! I’m excited to finally wrap up the 4 speed swap series. In this video I install the warn overdrive that has been specially matched with my Teraflex low gears. This should give me a greater top speed but also more options in splitting all my forward gears. Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way. I can’t wait to get the 3B back ...
Willys Jeep 4 Speed Swap: Clutch Linkage!
Переглядів 1,9 тис.3 місяці тому
Willys Jeep 4 speed swap clutch linkage! In this video the 4 speed swap is almost done. I figure out how all the new linkage for the clutch will work with the big 4 speed. There are several methods for doing this but I decided to go for something a little different. This worked out great but the true test will be when I take it for a drive! This should apply to most cj2a, cj3a, CJ3B, and cj5. #...
Vintage Jeep CJ5 Starter Upgrade!
Переглядів 3 тис.5 місяців тому
Vintage Jeep cj5 starter upgrade! In this video the old cj5 is making some weird noises at start. When I investigate I find the gear on the starter bendix is stripped out. Fortunately I had an upgraded starter sitting on the bench ready to go. Using this upgraded starter which is made for a Toyota Landcruiser gives the old Jeep a lot better start up and is also much more economical than replaci...
Willys Jeep 4 Speed Swap: Transmission Crossmember!

Willys Jeep 4 speed swap transmission crossmember! In this video the new Willys drivetrain is all sitting on its own weight and supported by all the crossmembers and mounts. There’s several different ways to do this portion of the swap and I mention a few in this video. I’m very happy with the final product but hopefully you can learn from my mistakes. This video should apply to most Willys Jee...
Removing The Hard Top On My Vintage Jeep CJ5!
Переглядів 2,8 тис.5 місяців тому
Removing the hard top on my vintage Jeep cj5! Summer time is finally here and it’s time to take the hard top off and enjoy the warm weather! This worked out really good because I have limited roof space and needed a bigger storage solution for my Willys m38a1. It was for sure easier removing the hard top than installing it. It’s a job I wasn’t excited about doing but I’m glad it’s done and read...
Warn 8274 Winch Albright Contactor Conversion!

Warn 8274 Winch Albright Contactor Conversion! In this video I show a quick and cheap way to get your old warn 8274 winch upgraded and back into service. The old solenoids warn originally used have pretty much worn out over the last 4 decades and it’s time for a better option. This is a great weekend job anyone should be able to tackle with the information in this video. I think an old Willys J...
Vintage Jeep CJ5 Custom Front Winch Bumper!

Vintage Jeep CJ5 Custom Front Winch Bumper! In this video I remove the old homemade bumper off the CJ5 and build a custom front winch bumper to mount up my Warn 8274 and add some recovery points to my old Jeep. This was a fun project and maybe not the best for first time welders but for sure a great diy project. For my winch mount I sourced a precut kit and fair lead from @brennanmetcalf , so...
Vintage Jeep Off-roading At Hurricane Creek Trail North Carolina!

Vintage Jeep off-roading at Hurricane Creek Trail North Carolina! In this video I take the old cj5 along with a Scout 800, International Harvester Travelall and a Kaiser M151 Mutt on an off-roading adventure! I was surprised how well all the vehicles performed. The upgrades on the CJ5 all met and exceeded my expectations and now I have a better plan for future upgrades. I believe this trail is ...
Vintage Jeep Alternator Conversion!

Vintage Jeep alternator conversion! In this video the generator on the old Jeep Cj5 has quit charging. In todays market and alternator conversion is much cheaper than replacing the generator and the conversion is fairly cost effective. I’m glad to have the Jeep charging again and getting it back in action. This should also apply to Willys cj2a, cj3a, CJ3B, and cj5 jeeps. Thank you for watching!...
Installing A Hardtop On My Vintage Jeep!
Переглядів 6 тис.Рік тому
Installing a hardtop on my vintage Jeep! Just in time for the cold weather of winter I’ve got the hardtop installed in the old cj5. The hardtop I installed is a vintage meyers hard top. The half top really gives the Jeep a unique look. I have seen this style of hard top on old Willys flatfenders (cj2a, cj3a, cj3b) but I feel like this style is pretty unique for a later Jeep. It was a fun projec...

I bought an m38a1! Why did I need another Jeep? You can never have too many! The main reason I purchased this old jeep was for the Buick 225 engine in it. After getting it home and inspecting it it’s too nice to part out. The engine might be swapped out in the future but for now I’m excited to unlock the potential this old military jeep has stored! Cj2a, cj3a, CJ3B, cj5, m38a1, cj7, cj8 #jeep #...

Willys Jeep 4 speed swap bolting it up! Finally getting back to work on the Willys CJ3B and getting the ford 4 speed t18 bolted to the engine for the first time! Navigating the correct throw out bearing spacing was the most difficult part of this video. Clutch linkage should be figured out at the end of this as well as crossmember modifications and install. I’m excited to see all this time and ...

I have a 1965 T18. I do not have those springs in my rebuild kit for the 3rd gear synchro hub and I did not remove anything that resembles it. Do any of these not have them? If so, I cannot rationalize how 3rd gear pawls would jump out.

Advice, to help keep the new rubber seals fresh apply Glycerine to a cloth and rub into them annually! Note: This was recommended long ago in a GM service manual for rubber door seals to keep them somewhat soft and pliable

Is there such a thing as a torque bias kit for the rear axle? as those will turn the wheel that gets the most traction as opposed to turning both equally.....makes for better traction and cornering!

    • @SevenBarSalvage
      @SevenBarSalvage Місяць тому

That’s a good question I’ll have to look into that! I will say the ratcheting feature does work really well when turning and as soon as you throw some power to it it locks up!

I believe you can buy 2 or 4 brackets depending if you want to do 1 axle or both. The brackets are the same front and rear. Hope this helps!

Fwiw, a 3.8 buick v6 ought to bolt right in, and your flywheel might even bolt on, you could easily install the computer and make an EFI install on it, and they are notoriously reliable

Holy cow, Jacob! You got yourself a dauntless!! What year is that? I noticed it looks like a single barrel...they didn't use that long. The vast majority were 2 barrel. (Do yourself a favor and upgrade to a 2 barrel intake! Lol) Don't be alarmed by the one spark plugs a little fouled. My dad's v6 Jeep has always fouled one plug on the passenger side since it was new and I noticed when I pulled the plugs on mine, it does too. That leads me to believe it's the nature of the beast because my engine is TOTALLY rebuilt and shouldn't do that. Perhaps a design flaw in the intake causing one cylinder to run a little rich? IDK!

I see in the video the brake arm flopping backward, pulling the push arm out of the master cylinder. How is it held forward so that doesn’t happen? Restoring a 63 CJ-5. Can’t find a good drawing on this. Is it just held forward by butting up against the firewall?

Thanks for walking us through this T18 rebuild. Your tips and tricks really made it easier to do on my own and saved a bunch of money too.. I had a stubborn idler gear shaft and you mentioned that hammering it out at an angle with an extension worked well. Mine just wouldn't budge, but I think I found an easier way. I welded a nut to the free end for my slide hammer and then it came right out. Just cut the nut off afterwards and no harm done. Anyway, please keep the videos coming!
