I found a Scrambler half cab in a non automotive junkyard and put it on my cj7. Made my own bulkhead as Scrambler bulkheads are stupid money. I don’t drive it in the winter but it’s great in spring and fall. Yours looks great! Greetings from eastern ontario
My 67 came with a full top. I took the doors apart and used the blind rivet nuts for reasonably. Hint: buy extra dies for 6/32 & 8/32. They break really easy.
Good Stuff! It looks great. I have an M38-A1 that was a fire department rig, still has siren and wig wag red lights. Lots of fun and functional too. Skinny tires, no lift, a great little fishing jeep. All the best from Nor-Cal. Keep it up!
You can add Rivnuts to the body where the top will mount to. They run flush with the sheet metal and allow you to unbolt the top and go with the ragtop in the summer.
Looks great on there. I agree I have not seen them on Cj5s either, but I have one obviously made by the same company that I bought used years ago for my '2A. Mine came with what looks like a factory bulkhead. It angles forward and down from where it attaches to the top and mounts to where the cargo floor drops down right behind the seats. I made the mistake of taking it off a few summers ago and leaving it out by the garage where some lowlife stole the doors...
Man, I remember when I was younger and was willing to deal with driving a vehicle that was cold in the winter. I drove Corvairs through the winter for many years and if you know Corvairs at all, you know the heating system was basically non-existent. Granted, Wisconsin winter is way different than Tennessee, but...now I need a vehicle with a blast furnace heater! I'm over driving with my teeth chattering. LOL Even when I plow snow with my "Bah, Bah black Jeep" CJ7 with a hard top, I think every time..."Dang! I'm gonna have to put a wood stove in the back of this thing or something. I'm freezing to death and I can't see out of the soft ball size hole the defrosters are making in the frosted windshield!" Great job, though, Jacob! I like how you always do things right rather than just cobbling together. You always do a great job on whatever you do!
👍🛠️💪 A good up grade would be to put some peel and stick style insulation and sound deading. I had to weld up around 35 holes in my tub on my yj that people had drilled and screwed into it.
Nicely done. I would love to find a half cab for mine. I'd also hate to put more holes in my Jeep, but I did just fix the heater for mine. Makes sense to find a hard top.
Good job … but it looks like you haven’t adjusted the passenger side rear corner overhang issue yet … it looks like it has a sharp edge so it could be a potential safety issue.
@@-oiiio-3993 that’s cool that you have one of those. I know what you are referring to. I made some in 16 ga paint grip metal just a couple of years back. I made about 6 of them and sold them for about $500. The red primer ones I saw were about 7 or 800. I lucked up and found an original 1946 version that someone had put up in there barn 40 years ago and decided to post it on facebook. It was a dream to find an original and he only charged me 400 for it. I figured after I saw the primer priced ones you are talking about, I would try and make some for folks and tried keeping the price more reasonable. Glad you found one. I looked for about 3 years before I managed to find one.
I just traded some stuff and 500$ for a 1948 willys jeep that has a top kinda like yours, but the metal is heavier, and the roof slopes up, but it doesn't have the curve. I found a company doing searches that made the old tops, but i have to do another search, because i can't find the junkmail i wrote it down on lol. G-d bless.
not familiar with hard tops for jeeps but ive been told none of them fit really well ive been told the milatary hard tops fit the best Edit: you dont want to use riv nuts they spin in the holes easy and are better suited for static loads not anautomobile where the stresses change (frame flex and wind resistance) you just do better cinch that top down with machine screws and nylock nuts or lock washers also for your weather stripping camper shell tape will take care of that for you its peel and stick and likely what the manufacturer orgianally used for weather proofing
I’m looking for a original roller chassis rear and front in transfer case engine transmission for a 1946 Willys, if you have,,, I have trade thanks buddy ,,,thanks BigAl California, praise Jesus Christ grace amen 🙏
That is a good addition to the CJ5. Looks great! I am looking forward to your content on the M38A1.
Thank you! Me too hoping to get started soon!
I think these early Jeeps look the best with a half cab like that! Its definitely easier to heat a half cab over a full one.
Exactly, thanks!

Nothing wrong with homemade! I appreciate it!
Looks good and will be really appreciated when the weather closes in.
Thank you!

Sounds like my kind of rig! I appreciate it!
That’s awesome!! Nice top for that jeep!!
Thank you!
Looks great thank Dane for getting out of my yard it originally came out of deland, fl.
Haha that’s awesome I didn’t know it came out of Florida! He seems like a good dude!

Always Great content!!!! Love the half top!!!
I really appreciate it!
I have built them in the past, but most always wanted the full roof, the rivnuts are a good idea, maybe stainless ones.
I’d like to find a full top sometime too. Thanks!

Oh man that really stinks 😬

Haha it’s an adventure but I know what you mean sometimes it gets to be a little too much cold! Really appreciate it!

It needs it for sure it sounds like a brick in a dryer going down the road right now 😂
That is a nice top. I almost bought one with a top like this in the past.
Took me a while to hunt one down!
I'm not to crazy about the look of half cabs normally but that looks pretty good,
I appreciate it!
I had one on my 1975 Cj5, pretty sure my old top was identical to yours. I still got jeep, sold the top years ago, which I regret.
They are hard to come by!
A soft silicone or foam seal will take up a lot of slack in the door fit.
Good idea!

I would hate to put one of these on a nice Jeep 🫣 Heater is my next fix! Thanks!
Maybe use the tape that's used between a truck bed and a cap (topper).....
Good idea!
Man, that is cool!
I’m really happy with it!
I have one of them! but it's a full cab. it's a meyers as well and supposedly it was bought from J.C.Shitney.
Roll up windows would be so cool!
Leave the 'bulkhead' area open and put a tonneau cover over the bed.
That’d be pretty slick!
Hey. If you find an old sunroof, you might replace the rear window. Cut a little to make it fit and then have a flip out glass for summer.
Genius 💡
Good job … but it looks like you haven’t adjusted the passenger side rear corner overhang issue yet … it looks like it has a sharp edge so it could be a potential safety issue.
I’m going to double check square on everything and if everything is good I’m going to trim it off. Thanks!
You need an original extend a bed. It gives you 7 cubic feet more room. I have an original 1946 version. They’re great.
I have a 2 foot long repop Koenig unit.
Goes on or comes off in minutes, very convenient.
That would be awesome!
@@SevenBarSalvage I use to have copies made just like the original and sold them. I might still could. But there are awesome
@@leerleerdrinkabeer If yours were in red primer and sold on Ebay a bit over twenty years ago, I may have one of yours.

My 64 has a full metal cab and they were made in pieces yours might be a Kelly cab or a meyers cab both are great hard tops
Keep the rubber Side down
I’d love to find a full hard top sometime too! Thank you!
Hey do you think that half top could be made to fit the CJ3B?
That’s a good question I bet here in a few weeks I can see how similar the 2 are!

I've used them for over a decade and never seen one spin..
@@65cj55 every time ive come across em there was always one that would spin
glad to hear you havent had to deal with a spinning riv nut
I passed on a military hard top (unassembled) and I wish I hadn’t 😝

Look better without the roll bar
Nonsense
Gotta have some kind of insurance 😅

Put some silicone around it
Good idea!
Take the snaps off
Caulk that thing up good 👍
For sure!
