5R55W Tear Down, Let's talk about transmission repairs...
Переглядів 3,3 тис.2 роки тому
Oh the fun of a 5R55W. This transmission was a fun one to open. While a P0741 can be a fun code to chase, it wasn't in this one. The final result of finding a leaking pump gear was a fun one to find. Thank you for watching.
46RE Assembly of main case
Переглядів 4,4 тис.2 роки тому
Back to the bench we go. This time with a 46re, this transmission came in for a slipping in second complaint. During the rebuild procedure we have installed a lot of new parts. Total parts description will be below. While most of the transmission has already been assembled this video still follows the basi principles of assembly for the unit. Though this video does not show every step it does s...
6T70 Step by Step, How to Install (without vehicle lift)
Переглядів 17 тис.2 роки тому
Well we got a little of topic today. Kinda, this was a lot of fun to do. Starting this we move the transmission under the vehicle and get right to work. While installing a used transmission is not something we typically do in our shop sometimes ya just gotta. The first step for install was to get the bellhousing matted to the back of the engine. Easing the transmission up flush we were able to ...

Переглядів 15 тис.2 роки тому
Today's video begins with the tear down of the 68rfe transmission. This transmission was removed from a 2011 Dodge Ram 3500. It is behind a 6.7L inline 6 cylinder diesel engine. The complaint from the customer was, Slipping in second and no Overdrive. After completing the disassembly we can fully assess the damage. The main point of failure was the overdrive clutch and 2nd clutch. Thank you for...

How much would you say you have in parts? I have a 2002 4l65e doing my first rebuilt
I think your camera guy is a hater big guy every time you explain shit he either mutes the video or ff your attempt
Looks like gear oil, needs to be. Atf l, i run one bottle of Lucas trans fliluid additive and amsoil signature series fuid. I dont believe there is much of a chemical issue in this addition, but it provides plenty of added film strength protection
What would cause the 2/4 band material to come off ?
Describe your come off more. Sometines water intrusion can cause delamination of the clucth
@ it started to slip like the 2/3 shift flare I open up the pan and see band clutch material in there I wonder what would have cause it 2nd was still catching good I’m surprised
I wanted to see what was inside, I have two of them. Looks like it's more than twice the work of the old transmissions! I had a vibration at 60-65 mph it was the driveshaft.
Those slotted steels are definitely worth it, for the same reason race cars use slotted and drilled rotors, as you said it helps oil flow but it also helps with heat dissipation
56 had a super 88
Whats a ballpark on how much all these parts cost? I'm probably going to rebuilding a 4l60e soon since 3rd is slipping in my yukon. Also what torque converter would you recommend for a stock 04 5.3 yukon? I'm near the end of the video and haven't heard you mention the torque converter yet. I've been in a few transmissions but never an automatic so I'm sure I could do it as long as i have a book to reference and I'll need to buy or make some tools. Thanks!
I’m having trouble figuring out which one to get for an automatic transmission
You Bad ass bato
Good video. Are you just re-using the old "steady-rest" ring in the bottom stator groove?
You have a list of all the parts that were used n replaced i would to take my hummer H3 for you to look at
Where's your shop located for the exact same job?
Can I bring a new or refurbished techm to a shop to have it programmed? Or does it have to be installed in the vehicle first?
@lilamay333 depends on the shop but typically it has to be installed. There are some who have the ability to bench flash the tcm but its not how i recommend to do it.
I have a question if the flywheel has an alignment hole, should I tighten that bolt first and then the others? If there’s no alignment hole, should I thread all the bolts first and then tighten them?
Yes but all gm flexplates have alignment holes. If you statt the all first make syre the conveter is pulled all the way forward or you will have the bolt.run into the back of the nlpcl while tightening the bolts
@ thank you 👍
I know I’m a few years late, but can you link that press you used for the 4/5/6? And the threaded rod press used on 3/5/R, did you buy that or make it yourself?
@natebreiling577 sorry i dont i have a part number for the snap press. The other is a drum buddy from adapt a case.
Any idea whats the part number to the shift solenoids??
@joey537 sorry to my ability i do no have any part numbers for individual solenoids. The assembly itself has several part number options. With the appropriate vin we can get the ac delco part number you need. Hope this helps.
@ ok thank you maybe u can help with this question at leadt. are the solenoids replaceable individually or the whole TEHCM?
@joey537 whole techem assembly
To late
so do you need to space it after or is it just direct bolt on?
7300 miles and defective. American engineering
Better tell 383 stroker guy You nicked that seal I saw the 11 time I watch it lmao
You better watch again i nicked that smurf twice lol
Nice job. Good attitude!
Thank you so much for switching up your normal tranmission work and helping your friend. It simplified and helped me a lot. Keep up the good work guys. Thanks again.
Is the Torque converter the problem of the factory tuning thats causing the converter to fail?
👌👌
Hi David, Grant from Australia. I have 4 6T40 Auto Transmission to rebuild, with 3 of the 6T40 with the common problem this being the Fault with the 3-5-R wave-plate and one that had the same symptom as the 3-5-R wave-plate failure, however upon opening the housing up and taking out a few of the top end gears, I started to see, the peachy colour deferential carrier Baffle all crunched up, as I made my way down deeper in side the Carrier Baffle become more and more with a few chunks also found. However, after removing every thing I could not find a failed part cause, even the 3-5-R wave-plate looked new and also not much use. So, at this stage I am putting down to simply the bits of carrier Baffle crushed up in the gearing was the issue, lucky at this stage I cant see that it made it into the Solenoid unit, it seems to be just in the main gearing side of the transmission. I like working on the 6T40 and will enjoy rebuilding them, here in Australia Transmission Services can cost up to $7,000 for the transmission. For me, I am not that greedy... But, at least cover the cost of part and time, but enough top also make some cream on the side. Great vid Dave. Grant from Australia
@MrMcdougalls thanks grant for your support. We love the 6t40 family of transmission in my shop as well. I also agree some shops are just to greedy. Props to you for having your head on straight and taking the best care of your customer.
Any updates on then GFX drums are you still using them ?
Good vid, did darth vader film it?
wwhat is the right silicone?? i looked for it but cant find it- and ford dealer had no idea when i asked about it.
Does anyone know how to disassemble the lock cylinder itself/
This video just saved me bro. Thank you
I would like to thank you for making this video. My dad is 80 years old...I was able to change out the ignition switch for him because of your great instructions. Thx man! Made my dad's week!
Is the torque converter not supposed to move like that?!?!? Lmk lmk!!!!!
so i was working on my valve body the other day and lost the accumulator transfer plate, is it fine that i install everything back too how it was without the transfer plate in between the accumulator and valve body and drive it until my new kit comes in and i can throw the plate back in?
@@govee6212 no the plate has tp be installed to drive it.
@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 what theoretically would happen if i didn’t put it in and re installed it, just curious on its purpose
It's was an awesome video
I cannot thank you enough. Unfortunately I currently cannot afford the $6500 for someone else to do this, so this is where you came in. You saved me so much more than money! Cheers bud
Where is the tcc solenoid in that
Great info. Super presentation. Music blocks out important commentary!
Great video! In your opinion what is the main cause for P0741 on these transmissions?
ua-cam.com/video/uclWHt0iZkU/v-deo.html&ab_channel=GaryFerraro
The reason the switch would not work was the white plastic piece broken.it will fall down and keep ignition switch from turning all the way back
The hardest part for me is getting the transmission back up 😂 I got the ole harbor freight v-squared transmission jack. And lemme tell ya, it aint fun
So if im pulling a 6l80 transmission in a 2014 1500 chevy to replace torque converter, transmission seems good from what i can tell, should i flush the transmission and change filter or just replace fluid lost and throw it back together? Truck has 180,000 miles with no record of previous flushes or being replaced. Given the fluid is pink and clean its been done at some point id imagine. Truck just has occasional shutter and vibration and then fluttering rpms at highway speed. Thank you in advance. Great video!
How much was this repair Great work
2500$
Awesome video! Researching and educating myself to rebuild my 97’ 4l80e going in my k2500 service truck.
Hey there, Just did this job. Retainer clip on the overdrive servo was blown to a million bits. Got it all out and cleaned up, replaced the valve body pressure plate and check balls. New OD servo and new snap ring in place. Here is the question. When I pulled the valve body out that 2/3 accumulator retainer and spring popped out. Trying to get it back in place and having trouble getting the retainer to stay put so I can get the valve body back up. Any tips on that? Can I just use some pliers to pull the tabs out a bit to get it to stay in there?
Great video, but adding torque specs would be helpful as well
This guy is cute 🥰
you don't wash any of the new parts? Remind me not to bring my shit to you!
why is every video I watch on the same transmission so drastically different. And no one ever talks about the shit that I have been noticing and happening on mine? Shoulda bought a fucking manual.
Please the video good music very distracting hard to hear you
