I have the very same bearing removal tool...splitter. Got mine at Harbor Freight I been using it for differential Pinon bearing removal which I enjoy Ring and Pinion set up
No need for special tools, just use some old parts from another unit to get it together. I love leari g from an old timer also. They know a lot of tricks.

Can you replace that driver side case bearing without taking the transmission apart?
Or does it have a bearing retainer inside the transmission?
Soaked clutches can get your clutch clearances off i dry stack then soak on final sim
I do that often as well
