Initial impression of the Flitesim CLS-60 force feedback yoke. This is a great yoke for a reasonable amount of money. I do feel like flight simulation needs to catch up to racing simulation in terms of affordable force feedback gear. This is a great step. This is not a paid product endorsement.

      Depends on how the tablet is being used. If you are using the tablet as an extended display then it can. If you are using Air Manager as an app on the tablet then you can have some gauges, but I am not aware of the Air Manager tablet app being able to emulate the G1000 or other instruments that rely on pop outs. Did you ever try track ir? I didn’t like it. Not sure if the Tobi is better. I’d like to be able to know my eyes down to the instruments w/o moving my head and move my head out the windows. Not sure the tobi will do this. Track ir won’t.

    • @IvanSkyFlight
      @IvanSkyFlight 17 днів тому

      Never tried Track IR. With the Tobii, you can use your eyes to initiate screen movement, but I found this to be too much. I can keep my head still, but moving my eyes around is almost involuntary to a point. You can, however, dial in a nice mix of the two. It seems many people are using a blend that heavily favors head movement but still has some subtle eye movement for screen/view control. I do think this is the best iteration of a device like this, but I have only used the Tobii and an iPhone app.

      @@IvanSkyFlight thanks. Been watching your videos and all your builds. Trying to buy gear once but I now know that is pretty much impossible. Probably going to return the track IR. @IvanSkyFlight 17 днів тому

      @@pgreenx I would think track IR has this function, but I am not sure (Tobii does): The ability to turn off the track/ir/tobii with a key press. I have mine keyed to a yoke/joystick button. With Tobii you can recenter or just turn off the tracker altogether. It's great for doing pattern work/looking hard left/right or for looking down with helicopters.

    This is fantastic. thank you so much. Exactly what i was looking for. I am just using one big and it is cumbersome with mouse, zoom-in out etc etc. Can you save the settings or do you have to move the pop out instruments into the touchscreen monitors everytime you start the flight simulator? Also, does this somehow work with ipads instead of buying touchscreen monitors?

    • @IvanSkyFlight
      @IvanSkyFlight 17 днів тому

      You can save the pop out locations using Pop Out Panel Manager, and MSFS has some pop out location memory. X-Plane has pop out memory as well. You can use iPads if you use software that turns the iPad into a desktop extender. I have used Duet for this in the past, and it worked well. However, have not used the iPad setup in awhile, so can't 100 percent confirm, but I would be really surprised if it didn't work. Let me know if I didn't answer your question.

    I would say that for hand flying it isn't much good. However, with the force feedback equipment that might change. But when it comes to procedures, navigation, and IFR approaches it is great. I would check for forecasted marine lay at KSNA. The night before I would do multiple "trips" from KBNG to KSNA and fly the approach to minimums. Then do the missed approach. Over and over. Then the next morning I would fly my Mooney to KSNA and do it for real. Since Saddleback Mountain would hold the marine layer back I would take off in perfectly clear skies and yet have a 0/0 at KSNA. I was able to focus on tracking the needles, the bumps and noise of the real environment, and the feeling of going missed. I didn't have to worry about the procedures because I had did them over and over on the simulator. If I knew that I had a actual trip planned I would fly it beforehand in the simulator. Including the approaches and also at night so when the time was to do it for real I had already been there. I am putting in a Garmin G3x, dual G-5, and a GTN 750 in my Mooney. I am also building a complete simulator for it. Since this will likely be my last plane the simulator will match it almost exactly. I am making it on a steel base with wheels and I am going to weld scissor jacks on so that I can level it anywhere. I am researching how to make the G3x and GTN 750 using IPads. I still not sure which force feedback yoke and rudder pedals I will use. With the force feedback this could be a game changer. A multi-engine rating has a lot to do with controlling the plane on one engine and the key are the rudder pedals. No flight school around me has these types of pedals. I could charge $50 hour, less than the flight schools simulator at $89/hour, and have my simulator paid for. Yes, you can't log the time but a hour of multi-engine with instructor is $450/hour. You could use my simulator, with feedback that is closer than their $89/hour simulator, for 9 hours for the price of one hour in the real thing. And there is a lot of things you can't do in the real plane that you can do in the simulator due to safety reasons. Once I build this I might just get my multi just for fun.

    • @IvanSkyFlight
      @IvanSkyFlight 17 днів тому

      I think force feedback will really be helpful assuming they get it dialled in appropriately. It will certainly be a game changer in terms of trimming and stalls. I think if you add in something like PilotEdge (not affiliated, but I am a full price customer) it really ups the ability to practice. Having said all of that, there is nothing like sitting in a real plan with the forces of gravity working on you, so I would agree that hand flying is still not there, but I do think it's getting better and better.

    9:04 if you touch the center of the com/vloc button on (radio) panel with your finger does both the knobster knobs work for each radio knob or do you specifically have to touch the inner and/or outer screen knobs first? Also, Can you set up the main large viewing monitor to exclude the instrument panel so you only see out the window Thanks

    • @IvanSkyFlight
      @IvanSkyFlight 17 днів тому

      If you have a Knobster hooked up and enabled and then touch a knob on the screen that control will become highlighted. At that point the knobster will control the inner ring, outer ring, and the push button. For your second question, in MSFS there is no option to specifically have window only view without the panels/gauges, but you can adjust the view manually to obtain that view. X-Plane does an option to have a window view only mode (I think, it's been a bit since I tried that). Let me know if I didn't answer your question.

    After some time now are you still impressed by the ACE console? I am interrsted in it but still would be nice to just get individual components and add my own DIY plywood type console with cutouts. A bit more expensive of course for stuff like VirtualFly and such. Touch call 😁

    • @IvanSkyFlight
      @IvanSkyFlight 17 днів тому

      Overall, I am still impressed. Having said that, I do have a small wishlist of improvements: more switches including a hat switch for the yoke. The USB output on this is a bit "noisy" when some of the controllers are the end of their axis, meaning there are very slight fluctuations that can sometimes trigger events. This can be addressed with some sensitivity adjustment, but still for the money it shouldn't be an issue. The last thing which is the biggest for me is that the bungee is not as tight as I would like. If you let go, it doesn't always quite return to the same place. I have opened it up, and it doesn't look to be hard to fix. Lastly, if you have any notion that you are going to upgrade an individual component e.g. something like a force feedback yoke, then your method of a DIY console would be better and more flexible. The ACE really locks you in. Also, it looks they have had a significant price increase since I purchased mine.

    Ivan I have tried to add a Wimaxit 15.6 Portable Monitor to my Windows 11 Pro MSFS 2020 PC system for the past year. I’ve purchased Air Manager & installed it but still unable to get this monitor to operate with my 3 Samsung TV Monitor 1920X101080P system. I use the Honeycomb Alpha/Bravo throttle with Thrustmaster Rudder Pedals. Connecting the Wimaxit via USB & HDMI to HDMI port on the PC. The Wimaxit is identified as monitor #1 the 3 Samsung TV’s #2,#3 & #4. Can I connect the touch monitor with Air Manager only with out setting up the touch monitor in Windows 11? My windows 11 Pro has no Setup option for PC Touch Tablet Settings. I really would like to use this 15.6 Wimaxit portable monitor as my primary pilot display with G1000. I’m also 74 years old with a Commercial Instrument/Multi-Engine Land Certifications. I also have X-Plane 12 that I fly as well as MSFS 2020. I mainly fly GA aircraft in the US. I just need to know if this monitor can be connected using Air Manager to MSFS 2020 or X-Plane 12. Lol Thank you for any advice. I feel I wasted $155.00 on purchasing this touch Monitor.

    Having just gone through this process, I would recommend the following: 1. Ask your eye doctor to fill out the eye evaluation form and bring that form to your appointment with the AME. The AME I saw offered to upload it digitally (which saved some time!). 2. See if your AME will upload a letter from you indicating your request and your preferred FSDO for taking the test. This should help in what I experienced was an initial denial for none other than the FAA not knowing which FSDO I preferred to test with. Step 1 definitely cut down some time given that I asked my AME to do this. My medical exam was in mid-March. I received the initial denial in mid-July with an accompanying letter basically saying they’ll approve an LOA but need to mark down a FSDO. I was able to call in and provide this information. Just added an extra two weeks in getting the LOA. I received the LOA today! Looking forward to the MFT.

    • @IvanSkyFlight
      @IvanSkyFlight Місяць тому

      You don't have to. For example, there are several aircraft where their main displays don't have buttons or controls on a bezel. You see this in some of the airliners or even the Cirrus Vision Jet. In this case you can pop out the screens and move them to a different monitor. I also do this a lot with helicopters. Some displays (from within the sim) can even be popped and have touch capability, but other third party apps are needed. Air Manager as of now does not add touch capability to the displays that are popped out. Air Manager only adds touch capability to the bezels or other gauges being emulated.

    Hey Ivan, I have an Alpha Yolk and Bravo Throttle, I was wondering how you got those mounted underneath your desk?

    • @IvanSkyFlight
      @IvanSkyFlight Місяць тому

      I use a metal piece that uses the Alpha/Bravo cover screws to be attached to the top of unit, and then I use the clamps that came with the yoke/throttle to mount under the desk. I am currently using a commercial version for that that I picked up from Flight Sim Builder, but I also have a video where I made my piece from parts from Home Depot: ua-cam.com/video/U_L58Q43q-A/v-deo.htmlsi=ufJeOJpib0iViyzo

    Thanks for this video. I am having difficulty getting the in-game menu bar panels working. I am trying to get the in-game checklist panel to pop out and appear on my iPad (I'm using spacedesk) with touch enabled. I cannot figure out how to set this up to work automatically in POPM. I can manually open the checklist and drag it to the iPad but the checklist items do not respond to touch input, only mouse input. Can you help? Thanks!

      VKB is still the standard imo. FFB is good when done well, but early models like this are likely to make you fly worse, not better. Still waiting to see how it impacts WW2 planes and chopper trim/hovering in DCS.

    Hello and thanks for your explanations. In your opinion, is it possible to modify a gauge present in the PMDG 777 recently released for MSFS2020? I would like to make the texts on the buttons bigger. example on the autopilot A/P button make the "A/P" text a little bigger to be more readable. A thousand thanks

      @IvanSkyFlight Місяць тому

      Gauges could be made to look just about any kind of way, but so far, I have not seen a lot of Air Manager panels and instruments for MSFS/PMDG planes. I just picked up a copy of 777, and to be honestly it's kicking my butt!

    The revolution would be if it were possible to also use the joystick as an H shifter in simracing in the same rig..

    • @IvanSkyFlight
      @IvanSkyFlight Місяць тому

      Yes it would. I would love to design/have a combo flight flight/racing rig. I have a racing rig on an aluminum frame from Advanced Sim Racing, and holy smokes is that thing solid with zero flex. I would love to have something light for my flight rig.
