I am ok with 2020 despite the hundred bugs wich really bother me and I like X-Plane 12 even more. No need at all for 2024. I can wait.

I have to say that MSFS 2020 has been relatively flawless for me. I occasionaly get on XP12. Just wish they had better scenery without the extra steps/storage.

I had the exact same problems, crashing to black screens followed by fans ramping up to max and having to restart the computer. It was random, sometimes 15 minutes sometimes 2 hours. One day it happened 4 times. I took my computer into a repair shop and they found there was a problem with my NVME drive and replaced the drive. It has been running flawlessly ever since. This solved my problem.

Interesting. Question: Do you run more than one drive? If yes, do you run MSFS from drive C: or other? I wondered about hardware, but no other program causes a crash like this for me. Glad it is working for you!

I run two drives. MSFS runs from drive D:, which is the drive that was having problems, I also have a drive C: that was working properly. I was trouble shooting the problem by running Unigene Heaven. Unigene Heaven would run for hours without crashing the computer. What I realized is Unigene Heaven is on Drive C:. MSFS was crashing because it was on drive D:, the drive that was having problems. Replaced drive D: and the problem went away. I of course had to re-install MSFS 2024 on the new drive D:.

@@Tatanka-k8w Will try a reinstall on another drive. My MSFS 24 is on my D: drive (but so is MSFS 2020 and I don't have issues with that). I will try an install on my C: or E: drive as a test.

@@Tatanka-k8w Reinstalled on the third hard drive. Did a marathon 7 hour session. Set it up to fly on auto pilot from Kansas to Alabama. Checked on it occasionally. Refueled here and there. No crashed yet. You may be right about the hard drive. I did run a bunch of checks on the previous drive which is still installed including some Samsung disk checking. No issues discovered.

I had an issue with Pop Out Manager for 2024. I was using it for RSG GNS530 and 430. I had several unexplained crashes that would instantly take me completely out of FS2024. It wouldn't crash my entire system where I had to reboot, but it was a strange issue. Once I disabled Pop Out Manager and manually moved the screens over to the GNS displays, I haven't had a crash since.
Do you recall when it started happening? Did it happen with the vanilla install, or after some addon installs?
It's strange that your fans ramp up though. It does sound like a hardware problem if that happens. Not sure what video card you use, but do you have another to test with? Also try re-seatiing all your cards and ram. That's all I can think of.
Maybe a re-install of 2024 if all else fails. It seems strange that 2024 would be creating a complete system crash though, unless there's incompatibility with some hardware you run? Which I think would be rare. Did you go into Windows Event Viewer Logs to see if there is any info on the crashes? Hope you figure it out. Cheers!

I don't know if it started right away. I have done several installs. What is weird is that so many people are having the exact same issue. Right now I have just installed it to another hard drive on the suggestion of one the commenters who had the same problem. I have been flying for about 45 minutes with no issue. Fingers crossed. Thanks for the suggestions.

HE'S BACK!! Great to see you again Ivan and thanks for the update. I've not moved to MSFS24 yet so I'm afraid I can't help. I've invested a lot of time and money into MSFS20 so I'll be waiting until my Addons are updated and the software stabilises.

Thanks! I may be up and running thanks to a suggestion in this threat. We'll see. I moved my install to another drive, and so far no crashes. Once they are up and running, it's not hard to say that currently 2024 is not super compelling over a fully dialed in 2020 setup. Having said that, I recall some chaos at the beginning of MSFS 2020, but back then the previous version of MSFS was over a decade old. This time 2020 is still amazing , and I think waiting for 2024 to gel is not a bad idea.

I just tried MSFS 2025 and it's awesome!

Cool! Take the crashes out(which not everyone seems to be having), I think it's pretty good. More evolutionary than revolutionary. Believe me, I want it to succeed big time!

Hi. I’ve been watching the mess that is the msfs 2024 launch and just sticking with 2020 until it sorts itself out. Not being a content creator, it’s a no brainer for me for now.
A quick question on the Moza: does the trim work like the trim in a GA aircraft, ie when you trim away the stick force, does the stick stay in its displaced position (rather than move back to a central position)? Is the trim good generally? Does it allow you to hand fly accurately in the sim? Really looking forward to your force feedback videos.

    • @IvanSkyFlight
      @IvanSkyFlight  Місяць тому +1

As of right now the stick does not maintain its location if you change the trim. I am hoping that Moza will act on that. They update frequently at least in the racing world. What the AB9 is doing well is overall engine vibrations, airflow over the elevator, and I love that unlike my WinWing, I can on the fly change the center spring feeling from very strong to zero. Zero centering is great for helicopters.
