Good content. I have been fly fishing for just over a year now (salt and fresh) as well as BFS and spin. If I could only choose one I'd go with fly fishing just for the stealth like approach to fishing. However I suck at it still and it only took me 2 sessions to get great at BFS including a lot of backlashes. I am so torn ha!

Nice tie...I tie a similar pattern...the only modification I make is to place a little cement or solarez where you pushed the mono thru the tail....otherwise overtime the rabbit strip will break off at the hole....

The R8 Salt is definitely a much more relaxing experience. If you are trying to throw the line and not allow the rod to do it for you, then you remain lost and confused for all eternity 😊 I guess I believe in magic. Then I tried an Air 2 Max, and now I believe in alien technology. 😮

If you are not rich like most of these guys who can and will afford a $1000 rod......it does not make you better in any way shape or form..... personally,.. I think most carbon is made somewhere overseas,... which tells me,.. its all the same Shit.....! build your own rod the way you want it to perform

I think the top of the line rods are great rods, super light, built with quality materials, good consistent actions but that’s not quite enough to justify the massive price increase. After about 3-400 dollars the improvement per dollar over cheaper rod ratio falls off quickly. If you have the money by all means get them if it’s not going to hurt you financially, they often have good warranty’s and are less fatiguing after all day use. But it’s all about how you feel about the value per dollar on the rod. My advice wait for new models to drop and buy your premium rods at massive discounts

Most anglers are not good enough casters to notice a benefit going from a $150 rod to a $500 rod let alone going up to the $1000 range. The fly rod is the second least important thing in fly fishing. First is presentation selecting the correct fly and getting the best drift possible. Second the line then rod then real. Let’s face it most fly anglers don’t fish but once a month or so and you have multiple rods to do different things that means the rod gets used what a dozen times a year at most. I always watch these videos comparing rod price points and no one has ever actually justified a $1000 rod. It is BS that gets pushed to take your money. Spend that money on a few casting classes which everyone can use regardless of how great you think your casting skills are. More flys and spend it on gas to get to some new locations. Spend it on a hotel and out of state fishing trip you won’t become a better angler because your rod cost more but time fishing will make you better.
