2 Material Tarpon Fly Tying Tutorial | The Crazy Eyed Uncle

The crazy eyed uncle is a great, simple, 2 material fly for tarpon. This in a few colors would pretty much cover tarpon anywhere.
This is a great all around baitfish/streamer type pattern for Redfish, Snook, and Tarpon. It's a simple tie and great practice for working with deer body and belly hair. The marabou gives the tail incredible action, even when you're not moving it. The deer hair provides some flotation, creating a neutrally buoyant fly that tracks very well. I generally prefer single colors in this pattern, but you can feel free to mix up marabou and deer hair colors in whatever combination you like. Stick with the sl12s 1x short or a similar hook for this pattern. A heavier gauge hook like this keeps the fly riding true and not spinning.
