How the Daniels Created "Everything Everywhere All At Once"
Переглядів 5 тис.Рік тому
This video contains spoilers. Sometimes when making a video I realize that the director’s voice is the most powerful narration I can include. It first happened with my Portrait of a Lady on Fire video, and in this case I saw how great The Daniels are at sharing their thought process and filmmaking techniques. These types of videos are often more challenging since I need to splice together a bun...
Margaret: The Definitive “Main Character Syndrome” Movie

This video contains spoilers. Although both versions of Margaret are great, I primarily used footage from the extended cut. This is the version that is closest to Kenneth Lonergan's original vision, and I think it emphasizes a lot of the things I talk about in the video even more (such as the the sound design). Y Tu Mamá También: The Transience of Youth

This video contains spoilers. Alfonso Cuarón is my favorite director of all time so I am very excited to finally be releasing a video on one of his movies. Most of his work tackles similar themes and ideas with Y Tu Mamá También being the first entry in this incredible run that he's had in the last 20 years. I wanted to include a discussion about how this movie was also about Cuarón finding his...

Mulholland Drive: Enter the Dreamscape

Portrait of a Lady on Fire: The Rise of Desire

This video contains spoilers. I wanted to do something different with this video, so I decided that there should be no narration. At least everything will be forgotten. I always thought that people would never forget about me and people would always think about me. But no one would think about me and no one would care about a person's bad sides this much. I was kept with this feeling recently that someone from my ex-close friends would think about me in a bad way. Not that they would even think about me because I wouldn't even think about someone's negative sides this constantly. But now that I heard this sentence ''everything will be forgotten'' I am relaxed. Now I can end it peacefully

Ever since I first watched this movie, I made it a habit that I watch this movie every year on 31st August, no matter where I am and what I do. As much as depressing and realistic it is, somehow strangely this movie give me a ray of hope. Indeed there is a tragic beauty in this.

I saw the movie. The main character got more disturbing to watch as the movie went on. Her relationshp with her Mom and the treatment of her brother is hostile. She makes impulsive decisions. She gets on a strange warpath of vilifying the bus driver even though she is partly to blame for accident by distracting him (She asking about his hat and him thinking at first she is flirting with him).As the movie wears on, i'm thinkng she's asking "bipolar" and crazy. Overall, it's a wellmade movie and but disturbing main character with a dubious moral compass.

BTW, Camilla is the one who is dreaming. She put a hit on the blonde girl who 'sole' the part, and who 'stole' her boyfriend-director. Diane in Camilla's dream represents the girl that she had murdered.

Great essay on a masterpiece. When she's at the jukebox, plays the music, and stares right the camera ... it's the most stunning and sexiest forth wall break ever. It's like she's taking flight from the movie itself to somewhere else, transcendent of the narrative.

Great video The rap from the kid i thought explains the story in avway for all the characters, although i suspect the worm was cut out the movie. When he says presense, a double ass meaning. I think hes referring to his presense at that time in the presense of Jims presense. Thus an introduction. Gifts i bestow is the truth, wisdom, awareness aka the sunshine to deal with their suppressed traumas. He says you don't hear me though cus Jim dismisses him, which is why he tells him you cant hear the truth, but I'll tell you anyways but you need to listen closely cus ill tell it rhythmically. So drop your ego think fast u fake coward, keep your mouth shut and listen up. He says im going to tell you about the worm, which in context to the film, is them. Thats why he says the worm stopped living that way and killed its oppressor, which is their guilt n trauma they all stopped running from. The worm was the crisis and when it came to facing it, they all were basically doing something irratic, running away from the situation after they were given the gift of truth knowledge awareness to overcome it, they didnt. Thats why he says god will bring the rain, devine intervention. But again theres a story cut out and it explains a lot about the shooting and gun at the end. So in that context i think it was his dad killing someone that was oppressing him. I still think overall that rap actually made a lot of sense about the movie which wss ultimately being the past isnt through with you and it took devine intervention to heal them

Celine left the interpretation of the script to Adele, who compared it to a skier racing down the mountain, knowing where the curves are, plotting the run in your mind. There were two requirements from Celine; that she would close her eyes at some point and end on an inhalation. To fully understand the brilliance of Celine and the absolute mastery Adele has of her craft, here is Celine’s script for the final shot: “There is everything. There is surprise, thrill, a beating heart, anticipation, melancholy, focus, the blush in her cheeks, remembrance, sadness, and her deepening breath. All the behaviors of a woman you used to know well, whom you loved looking at, whom you loved period. But there are also things you never noticed before, maybe because they are novelties like that wrinkle in the corner of her eye, maybe because they are things you could not see before and had to discover for yourself.”

I didnt like the actor choice for teenage Shia , he looks more like a young Matt Damon than a young Shia LaBeouf 😮 that said I think there is more to this story than is shown in the movie , being a child star in Hollywood leaves them wide open to abuse and vile people 😮 we all heard the stories about what happens to them 😢😢

This is such a lovely and succinct analysis. Great video and exactly what I was looking for. Watched for the first time today. I was struck with dread and on the edge of my seat the entire way through and bawled my eyes out during the frog scene. What a weird, wonderful and creative film. I think the Exodus 8:2 references are worth mentioning as PTA sort of crafted the movie around his interpretation of it.

The Marvelization of cinema is a curse. Any movie without a gag or a joke every 10 seconds is now boring, basically TikTok in movie form. People didn't like this movie because they went in and expected a Marvel movie set in space but were met with a great movie with a deeper hidden meaning. They missed the beauty of the movie shown right in front of them. The complex relationship between a father and a son who always tried to connect with his father by trying to be just like him but couldn't. I guess every son with a complex relationship with their father can relate to this. A constant search for love and validation from your father who never gives it.
