That's some hard wood
I have the same machete and found that it’s not the most useful for cutting brush, but I ended up using it a lot as a beater knife around the yard. Something I can use and dull without feeling too bad about. Thanks for the video
Lmao idk if you’re going to see this but honestly a great review 💪💪
Most machete come with no edge. As not there. Everyone has different ideas for types of edge . Some people put 3 or more different angles on the edge . Number 2 they are made cheap for the third world
Estos vídeos son bueno verlos para cuando uno quiera comprar un machete estos vídeos nos ayudan a todos gracias 👍
I have a Mossy Oak kukri style machete that I got from TSC store. It has the same handle, same lanyard. I've used it once to chop some vines. I hit some metal. It has 3 nicks in the blade now. I like well enough. Paid $9.99 Wonder that actual company that made this.
@@LarsSmith-rv4ot thanks for sharing! I have to go to TSC today and think I might just have to get me one of those!
@@soloproject99 Hope your store isn't like the one we have. They have their knives in 6 different locations throughout the store and they move them around. They had a smaller Mossy Oak machete that looked interesting but it sold out at my store. Review was bad on it anyway. Happy knife hunting.
Топор.. Только ТОПОР !
Question please: does the 19inch BLADE Tramontina bolo machete exist?
It's not a hatchet it's a machete some things you use a hatchet for
You chamizos, i just liked that machete😊👍 Would you recomment i buy that one?
My Lord, a snapping turtle
Love the 18 inch pity Ontario shut down. But long time no see man keep it up.
There is a technique in using thar parang more efficiently. The way youre using it you’ll get exhuasted very quickly. Southeast asia is hot and humid. I grew up with this type of parang. The one youre using is mostly used for merintis, to clear small branches and clear bushes. To chop thicker would or bigger branches we use a similar parang but shorter than that and abit wider. The one youre using is longger and narrower. And youre not suppose to overlap your finger on the “beak” of the handle.
😊😊OOPS! I FORGOT TO MENTION , THROW AWAY THE SHEATH , IT IS CRAP !!! IT WAS DESTROYED THE FIRST DAY WHILE CUTTING FIREWOOD , USEING THE Jr TO REMOVE LIMBS . 😊😊
😊FOLKS , I'VE HAD THE GERBER GATOR Jr. FOR QUITE AWHILE NOW & CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS. I BOUGHT IT ON A WHIM & LOVE IT !!! HASN'T FAILED ME YET ! 😊
Does the blade have a distal taper?
Man thank you for sharing this video, oh yeah. I like the bolo never let me down but this one. I’ll never get one. That’s crazy, once again thanks for sharing.
Is that a turtle?
10:10 straight up ORC blade from LOTR
i purchased this as per your recommendation. i bushwhacked sage brush and manzanita in the sierra nevada at about 6k feet elevation. these shrubs had flourished after fire took the hillside. well guess what. the machete didn't do so good. the wooden handle was all loose and wobbly within an hour. it didn't come with a sheath either. i wouldn't recommend it to anybody.
@@darrinsiberia Man, I hate to hear about your experience with tramontina. The brand definitely isn’t known for their handles. Did the steel at least hold up?
Love the channel. Question... do you generally leave the tip of your machetes unsharpened? And if so why?
i once got an "ozark trail" 3-pole, dome tent off craigslist for 10 bucks. it actually last me several years.
looks like something they sell at dollar tree
okay. you win. i cancelled mine before it shipped. i still think if gerber lowered the price to under 20... it'd be a good deal for the average backyard brush cleaner.
NO SEAS IRRESPONSABLE AL CORTAR INDISCRIMINADAMENTE LA VEGETACIÓN SOLO PARA MOSTRAR LA EFECTIVIDAD DEL FILO DE UN MACHETE. pRUEBA CON OTRA COSA. NOS ESTAMOS TERMINANDO A LA NATURALEZA Y NO HACES NADA POR EVITARLO ¿¿¿¿Y TODO POR UN NEFASTO VIDEO ????? PARA LA DEPREDACIÓN DE LA NATURALEZA
For 5 bucks its a steal. It is dull af out of the package but thats why a Dremel should be a standard to have one in every home.
Malaysia is a country with thick forests. the forest is thorny and has dangerous animals. they are very skilled at preparing machete knives for various purposes in the forest.
You are right on point in regards to that wimpy handle
You should be counting even strokes for both sides to get an even bevel for each side
Unc been putting that poor blade through the trenches😭
I dunno why but I'm watching this short too much❤🔪
Picked 1 up from my local WM in GA for 4.97.Was skeptical when I took it out of the pkg.Sheath is crap.Good to see it performs.Cheap machete for the truck.
The reviews are all true the quality of this machete is disappointingly horrible. Like he said I too purchased a piece of crap.
Hello, I am Colombian and I tell you that Colombian machetes are of the best quality since they are made of stainless steel, which makes them quite durable. The one you have is special for agriculture or personal defense.🟨🟨🟦🟥
I'd like one of those tramontinas, I can only seem to find a short bolo, sending you love from the uk ❤
Subbed. Very informative, safe, and straight to the point video. Thank you!!! 😊
Looks like the Tramontina's been neglected by a nasty boy.
You’re absolutely correct! 😬😂
Average lawnmower blade
Absolutely
😁😡😑💙🤮

Safety pinch 😂
😂😂😂❤
Rusty, but somewhat trusty.
5 yrs and going strong! 😂
Leaving it sharpened with the file, get some more of a toothier edge for it to catch and penetrate more deeply rather than having the sharpest edge you can get up to 600 to 1000 grit using a file like that is probably at 350 to 450 grit that will allowed to grab more things and penetrate more deeply. so in a way, it is sharper than rather 1000 grit
I have heard of that method before. When I’m sharpening on the back of my truck I usually just use a file. When I’m in the workshop, it’s anyone’s guess as to how far I’ll go! 😂 Thank you for sharing!!
It's a nice machete, but it was made for cutting green, non-woody vegetation. The cut is low and the blade is quite thick - the machete bounces off hard wood because that is not its purpose.
Cool vid. I still have my Grandfathers WW2 Bolo Kokoda Machete. It is an amazing tool. Very high quality steel. The handle is the only con. It is a bit small and slippery. But yeah still a great piece of history....
Colombia makes the best machetes. Even better than Tramontina from Brazil.
I'm brazilian, i have a 14" Tramontina and a 16" Gavilan, pretty much the same as the one in the video. I like Gavilan better just fit my style i don't know why 😂 The machete siiiiiiings like a bird 🎉
@CR-sj7xd Yeah I also have an 18 inch Tramontina and I love it. But like you said, that Colombian Gavilan is music to my ears 😂😂
Might want to have some eye protection on
I'm a surveyor in FL. Looking for two hander. BTW .... I have that same pocket rod.
It sure lookef pretty when I bought it.. THIN hollow ground edge Bends REAL easy hard to straighten.. not enough metal to work your way out of... Might look like a tomato knife by the time you got it all straightened out... But it sure looked pretty
Man, I hate to hear that!
