I am in NZ and we only just got AI overviews, interestingly at the same time as GPTsearch, so I tested them both out side by side on 2 questions. One was simple, the other is prone to misinformation, rumour and speculation. For the 1st simple question - Google AI Overview was factually incorrect - provided outdated data. GPT search was accurate For the 2nd (unsurprisingly) - Google stated rumour as absolute fact. GPTSearch was more considered in its answer and carefully pointed out that there is misinformation and speculation, provided sources for both sides and then summed up by saying "there was no evidence to support the claims" But what can we really expect when Google has elevated Reddit as the authority on all subjects?

Hey, thanks for covering my post. And the second reply from Google was super interesting (which is now in my post). Seems Google is improving its systems for identifying when content on subdomain or in a subdirectory is "independent or starkly different from the main content of the site." So it's not the 'Site reputation abuse' algorithm being tested, but another system is algorithmically handling those areas of the sites being impacted... Again, interesting. :)

This is a great episode and SO interesting! I tried asking the AI overviews "what is my site" and it refuses to refer people to my site, even when it says my site is a blog. It's beyond frustrating and I'm sure it's due to the HCU classifier that Morgan mentioned. The AI also ironically will refer people to the Google Creators site where I was interviewed about my site. God forbid Google actually link to my blog that they featured on their Google for Creators site. So hypocritical and beyond frustrating. :(

Very nice interview! I have a very similar track and timing and portfolio, KDP plus websites. I also have 900 of these what I call digital assets on KDP, starting 2020. I re-uploaded and corrected a lot of them, as through production you find the keywords and designs that are working for you. Now I have three top keywords for traffic and revenue. But you don't find your revenue keywords without uploading and testing a lot. Now it is a growing mix of websites+webshops on Payhip, Amazon Onelink affiliate, insta/tiktok for income diversification. All learned from 1 or 2 youtube videos every morning over years. Every day 3 to 4 hours consistent and casual on the sofa with the laptop and music or tv, works the magic. It is a longterm consistency game and it is fun. 90 percent doesn't work, but that leads to the 10 that work in the end. And the cash flow stays, it doesn't go away. It is a steady additional income under full own control. 🌸🌸🌸
