The idea of AI overviews in Reddit is ridiculous to me - the only reason I go to Reddit for something is to see real people's raw opinions and conversations on the topic. It's the same with Amazon reviews AI summary - I don't wanna see an overview, I want to see people talking in their own words, mentioning little details that AI will just skip, and showing pictures of the product in use.
Did you notice the links on the Cheese Professor site to complementary Chocolate Professor, Olive Oil Professor, etc sites compounding their traffic and $$$.
