The Bardock arc was kinda lame. Seemed like they conveniently made Bardock a Super Saiyan. Just dumb. It also took away the specialness of when Goku became SSJ in the Frieza saga. Just like in the Star Wars movies with Rey, the choice to make Goku essentially nothing more than the child of an already powered up legacy made it very lame. Goku's parents should be average Saiyans, but maybe really clever. Rey should've actually been from random people instead of made from Emperor Palpatine jacking off into a cup. The only saving grace for the Bardock episode is that it's not really considered canon. Phew! Close call
