Still think that Dragon Age Origins is the culmination of the path started by Baldur's Gate. It has it all the essentials, and in a complete 3D moddable engine. Then happened... multiplatform with consoles... and all the RPGs, including DA series, nerfed to be playable with limited controllers and without mods; and then, worse, wokism, introducing that modern tribal language into fantasy games, ashamed of female beauty and straight white men, but of course, diversity, especially of ugly people. Luckily most of them gone broke ending this hippie fashion pfsss... how much damage was caused between consoles and outsiders woke in videogames, fortunately there are so many games that we could pass well that long dark decade.

The sword Lifetaker can also be gotten from that chest by grabbing a box, placing said box near the edge wall and climbing on top of it. No need for levitation or shield back shenanigans.

I absolutely love those pre-rendered isometric backgrounds, they look beautiful and immersive. I found new crpgs with 3d BG often ugly and horrible to navigate, cameras also generally to close and clipping everywhere.

Great list Arcanum of Steamworks and Magick Obscura is higher on my list :) and now Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader and bg3 are in my top 10. But would never judge them on on length. I prefer quality over quantity.

Great background and narrative! 👌🏽. Didn’t know what Pawn’s AKA was. Where did that info come from? To me, Pawns are the most fascinating part of the game that are yet obscure. DD2’s loading screen sometimes states [There is a world which exists with nothing but Pawns]. I think “it” is talking about a realm beyond the rift, an entire world explorable on the other side. What exactly does that mean? Would be great if there were more DD2 vids. Everything seems dead. Looking forward to more DD/DD2 lore vids from you.

Dissonant whispers is one of my favorites. I played as a bard and a level 4 dissonant whispers can one shot enemies.

The daggers in dd2 are ugly tbh, bolts of the blue are ok and throat cutters

Well damn im glad i didnt sell the ice daggers… i noticed you cant use the fire weapon skills on them which do loads of damage so never even tried them on enemies

I am still wondering how meh titles like Pillar of Eternity, Pathfinder and even more questionable Wasteland 2 and Baldurs Gate 1 etc. ...or even worse shit games like Dragon Age 1 can be placed over games like Planescape Torment or Arcanum which even rival Baldus Gate II in terms of peak quality (BGII is of course the longer game). Icewind Dale II over I is likewise not really sound...game length... But well all different opinions are void 😅 Edit: wait a bit, are you really using the total game length as a critical criteria for the rankings? Oh well guess if you have houndreds of battles like in BG2 to stretch the game this not really a metric which should even considered (bar some length gates like less then 10 hours etc... less then 20 hours etc.. which is too short obviously.)

Came here after having practically all of the top daggers and finding Heavens Key to literally be the best daggers after leveling them up fully. So i was wondering just out of interest if there was anything even stronger, but clearly not. The bolt and frosted daggers are both great too, and Dragons Vein is also great all fully leveled up, but that massive knockdown power with just a tiny bit less damage over Drains Vein, Heavens Key just destroys everything for me. So looks like i already have the best daggers in the game. Roll on the DLC!

I feel as though, while guidance is spammable, that each check in the game is made with guidance in mind. Very few DC are below 10, and with a critical fail rate of 5%, you are guaranteed to have at least a 5% distinct playthrough from another (unless you save scum or use inspiration... but then if that's the case, why would you be concerned about guidance in the first place?). Combined with natural fail rates, lowering that to 10-15% with spammed guidance isn't a big deal imo. Even without guidance, you can just smash open most chests, maul open most doors, and face tank most traps. That leaves conversation, mostly, which will still have that 5%-15%+ variance. And you can exercise self control and say to yourself "would I be able to/think to cast guidance in this situation? or should I just react as if im having a normal conversation."

Dragon's Vein is the best if the mage has enchantment. It's the best for fighting any bosses or dragons. Heaven's Key is only good against skeletons, ghost, undead, lich, dullahan but not so strong against living beings compare to Dragon's vein. Need to adjust your ranking bro😂

Is it just me or is blink strike mid? Outside of flash it lacks use for bosses and multiple enemies. It only gets you closer to enemies by fractions of a second. I could be wrong it’s at the top of lots of these lists

0:50 Be stuck with a spell for multiple levels... Unless you ask Withers for a respec. Honestly, given how easy it is to get a respec, Larian should have just allowed to switch spells out-of-combat for all classes.

I'm almost done with post end game but I've never hired archers.. only doing so for big statue guy. Does the drenching or explosives get used by the pawn if I do not give them arrows in their inventory?

100% agree with the list . But me personally even though elemental weapons are deffenetly better but esteticly inprefer non elemental weapons . yeah you can have mage to cast some elemental magic to your weapon but I don't want it either . I use mage just as healer only . Just hold my beer body il do the rest Also even though I liked more the fact that in ddda you have dragons bite that is superior sword to all in the game in dd2 its makes sense to use other weapons as well depending on your build I think its smart choice to not include neither superior armor or weapon for now in dd2

If you have a mage with a weapon affinity skill, is it better to use a non elemental weapon, as otherwise the element gets overwritten?
