The good: great hair physics! The bad: brainless combat + brainless "puzzles" + brainless busywork quests + lifeless world + restricted exploration + restricted "role-play" (you can choose between 3 types of "yes") + ignoring hundreds of past choices/lore points + embarrassingly bad dialogue (modern/quippy/preachy/condescending/therapy/HR) + obnoxious companions + cartoony character models + overall Disney/Marvel tone
Just wanted to remark that one thing I never see mentioned when talking about how good hair looks in this game, is that the technology was just lifted from EA's FIFA and Madden games. It was genuinely hilarious to look at all the praise and attention this hair tech was given in the game's promotional material, like it's some sort of Biowaste's own massive achievement.
Not talking about "THAT" issues everyone has been talking about(sorry Room Elephant..), but my opinion on this game that was painful to play.Yes yes i played all other DA games, and 900+ hourd of DA:I online gameplay. Playing Veilguard was more than a chore than an adventure in a fantasy world, the combat was repetitive and boring, quest were bland, worlds were crafted for lineal progresion and lack of freedom, why build a cty if you cant roam it fully? And the most stupid dialog wheel ever, your conversation choices never matter since your character never has the last say, so the other characters will correct you, berate you, or ignore what you say, ex: -------- OPTION 1 ------- CHARACTER: "What do you think of these colos Rock?" ROCK: "They look Nice!" CHARACTER 1: "Yup, they are my favorite" *character liked this* -------- OPTION 2 ------- CHARACTER: "What do you think of these colos Rock?" ROCK: "Somewhat do not like them" CHARACTER: "Well, they are my favorite" *character disliked this* --------------------- This is the most annoying aspect in this game, you don't have options for rebuttal, put your foot down, or simply reject something.
I thought the more linear progression and more honed side-content was an improvement on 'fetch 10 ram meat' of Inquisition. As it stands, Veilguard is my new favourite of the series (previously it was DA2, though each game is excellent). On my 2nd playthrough which feels very different, blunt Dwarf Warden vs. sarcastic Elf Lord of Fortune.
@@tschakatschada DA2 being the favourite is quite a widely held view among fans of the series. Time time tell, but given it's critical success (and I've finished it, so the reviews are valid), yes. How much have you played?
@@sofajockeyUK I played DA2 to the end. But I barely made it through because it was so bad. I played it much later on (after Inquisition and ofc after Origins) to get "the full story". Should have skipped it entirely. It is a classic 5/10 game for me. Completely mediocre to a point where it becomes boring an tedious.
Really good thorough review. You are a great writer. Ill be back for the next one
Thanks you. You are far too kind :)

Ahhh... I see you've played it also. :)

Fantastic and thorough review. Your "disconnected dioramas" point is very accurate
Thank you Nubbins, stoked that you enjoyed it. Hope to see you in future videos.
Exceedingly rare good nuanced take on the game.
Thumbs up.

Adding political ideology to video games is severely immersion-breaking. 😐

Sounds like you are just anti-woke, no wonder you didn't like the game. Happy gaming?
there is no any word about stupid woke theme. Very polite review, but even that upset your corupted gay soul. Pathetic
