@@SwissGermanBeginners Thank you ! I don't want to bother but do you have any references or knowledge about Basler dialect. Do we speak the same swiss dialect in Basel-landschaft as in Baselstadt ? ^^ I'm an Alsatian from the french-swiss border and unfortunately my mother didn't teach me the local dialect which is pretty the same that Swiss people actually speak beyond the border (maybe you know Burg-im-Leimental, Rodersdorf, Therwil...)

It's NOT Swiss German. Swiss German does not exist. She teaches Dialect of Zürich, which btw. by Swiss People is mostly considerd as the worst of SwissGerman Dialects. I consider the Dialect of the City of Bern as the most beautiful German Dialect of Switzerland (I am not Bernese btw.)

The man from Uri was hilarious by saying "Was bisch dü für einä?" 😂 It's based on a suspicion on outsiders/loiterers and thus a less forthcoming or sometimes joking way of asking. In central Schwyz I would say "Was bisch du für einä?" or "Was bisch du weleinä?". The more friendly way to say would be "Wie heissisch du?" or "We sägeds diär?" (Innerschwyz). I think the Schwyzer guy is more from western or northern Schwyz or at least influenced.

Merci mille fois Andrea! I love languages as each language does have its specialities (and limits hence why to know more than one is cool). I love English or American for its funkyness and breaking the ice conversation when possible but it is very limited to express deep feelings and emotions plus is not always a diplomatic card according where you are in the world. Ma langue maternelle est le français, but I also speak English and American fluently (I lived more than 12 years in the United States and 22 years in the United Kingdom, and my whole family is English). I bought also: Swiss German Unlocked: Your key to speaking like a local Merci Vilmal 🇨🇭

Swiss German is easier than standard German but I am respecting for both languages. Maybe I can start with Swiss German in order to warm up. Because in Germany we have a lot of citizens and some of them after the 20 years wouldn't speak German language still. It is shameful actually.
