- Arranging a trip and a party: These conversations are taken from a real German exam at level B1 and translated into Swiss German. Applicants for a Swiss residence permit must achieve at least an oral language level of B1 and a written language level of A1 in the official language of their Swiss residence. And in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, that is German, not Swiss German. The video I made is for people who also want to be able to converse in Swiss German at the B1 level.

Hoi Andrea … The production and format of this video segment is amazing. It emphasizes pronunciation skills (repeating slowly), while the under titles allow the student to grasp how Swiss German ‘grammar’ is working over standard German form. And all within an everyday social context!

I want to learn Swiss German to travel to Switzerland some day because some of my ancestors are from there I thought I knew some German but this is like a new language to me haha. Thanks for your videos they are great for learning!

This video is so incredibly useful, thank you for all the videos you make - I've been living in Switzerland for nearly two years and am finally about to start learning Hochdeutsch properly (aber ich kann ein wenig Schweizerdeutsch sprechen).. About time! It helps so much to learn the swiss german spelling as I can speak some but CANNOT spell or write anything! Do you do any tutoring?

Hi there and welcome to Switzerland 🩷 Yes, that's exactly true. You'll be fine if you just learn German. All written documents are in German and Swiss people understand German well. But if you'd like to be able to understand Swiss people talking to each other, then learning Swiss German can be very helpful. It will also make you feel less isolated if you understand our dialect. In which canton do you live?
@@SwissGermanBeginners I am now in Zürich but mybay the goverment will take to another canton in german side or even to french canton as well so unfortunately it is not my choice but i hope to stay here

For many many people in Switzerland even one chenilles not exist to learn Schweiz deutsch

I am also intermediate "preussich German" speaker and I also find it difficult to understand Swiss German, but for me it sounds beautiful.
You consider it ugly, since you can't understood the same. But in real sense its melody is sexier than that of hoch german.
