Hi Federico, Basel and Zurich dialect are different (like any other dialect), but the book will help you get to know the facts about our language in general, and it will also give you a good foundation for the language itself. Especially the spelling can be different but the book comes with audio and video files which will be very useful, too.
There’s a book specifically for Basler dialect called “Sali Zämme - your Baseldütsch survival guide” which would compliment the general foundation book. 😊

Do you think you can tell me the characteristics of Swiss Standard German, please? I know they use the ss and not ß. But what are other characteristics of Swiss Standard German ?? I have done some research and found out that people in Germany can understand Swiss Standard German but not the Swiss German dialect but The Swiss can understand and speak Hochdeutsch. I would really love to know more about Swiss Standard German. I would really appreciate your help so much. 😊😊😊 I would love a list of the characteristics of SSG if you have the time to list them here. 😊😊
