As a programmer. I can confirm writing otherwordly language to a terminal is in fact coding. But not programming. HTML counts as coding, if you're confused. I also do not want to come home to code and research any further. This is for people who need it in their line of work(some cyber security ish), conspiracy theorists, hackers and jobless weebs with 0 social life. Overall if you're not using it to make money in any way, it is not worth it. I'm a nerd but not this much, y'all can't empathize with folks not like you.

Would like to totally switch to Linux. Have mint 21.3 installed as well as Windows 10, and cannot abandon the Windows because, for example, I still cannot access Steam via Linux (yes, I have tried the various instruction videos on UA-cam). Also (for example), downloading the copies of article I do a lot is not as simple as Windows Documents feature. Having tried Linux I would have to say that the average non-techie computer user would have to do a Linux evening-class/ college course to be able to take to it reasonably quickly.

story time, similar experience to ur vlc. i was at school, and me and my friend needed to do some photo editing to install gimp. he was using windows and ms store, and i was using arch (btw) with pacman. he started a few mins before me, my initial attempt at installing failed because of some stupid bug, i finished troubleshooting, then installed gimp. and i still beat him in the install process.

The answer is obvious. unless your a coder or developer you simply have no reason to go to linux. It sucks when it comes to gaming and resource intensive tasks. It lacks compatibility and support for many apps and softwares. Almost everything easy for a windows user is a 1 hour task of watching tutorial vids and entering commands in terminal for a beginner on linux

I think most non Linux users just dont know how easy it is to walk away from Windows. That the learning cure is not that much different that a Android or Chromebook but with a unlimited more options to choose from. Just about every app or program that is not in a releases store but on a website usually has a cut and paste option for the terminal to almost 1 click install from the repository and gaming has come sooooo far with Lutris , Proton and Steam. With the few choices in the direction that Windows is going with your Data , Privacy , Freedom to do what you want with a PC you own i expect more and more to say F it and join us soon. Just say NO to RECALL and forget that shortly there will be a terminal like version of windows 365 for the home consumer where you will have NO options for storing your data locally .

I tried to boot up Undertale, and for some fking reason the cpu usage has skyrocket to 80_90 present and the game runs like sht Same thing with tf2 and ck2 runs absolutely the same and destroys my CPU. To be fare my laptop isn't the strongest quit the opposite actually, but all the games i mentioned runs way more batter in windows (with painful drop frame)

If you want to use the Adobe Suite, make a hypervisor on your system (which i know you can do if you have a machine capable of running Adobe products) and emulate the Windows. Do not sully your Linux with the debauchery of Adobe. Also watch @Nox.

I actually wiped my Windows drive a few weeks ago to prepare for some storage expansion. I had it installed on a HDD to make it suffer. Now i just need to figure out how to efficiently use it with my sata SSD. I know you can link the two, and i could just mount it and make a link in my home directory, but I want to know if i could somehow just ... Make them okay together? I dont know. My SSD is half the size of the HDD i use...

for a clean way to select between Linux and Windows during a dual boot i recommend rEFInd instead of GRUB
