After the last two hatcheries failed due to the use of old dirty rainwater, it was time to let them dry out to reset the eggs and time to use a new one! I'm currently using the new black XXL hatchery that's about 150% the size of the transparent XL hatchery. For species we have chosen the famous "Tropical" Cancriformis species that lives at higher "Longicaudatus/ Australiensis species temperatu...

Heya guys, I recently came back from my awesome holiday with Triopsmom where we spent some time at the coast again digging for fossils! we're back again for another awesome season of Triassic Park Triops! Unfortunately the "new second hand" tank had a defect internal light bar that couldnt be replaced. For this reason I decided to go back to the OG 60L Triassic Park Triops Maintank!

Triops | Live Eggrelease during an update!
I'm today going to having my first tadpole shrimp (aka Triops) arrive and i have some aquatic plants sand and I'm going to put mud at the bottom sand on top of the mud ill plant my freshwater plants in then put a lil rock and fil it up they will have loads of space to eat dig and swim my tank is about 2.5 or 4.5 liters so any suggestions?
I have been told I can only use spring water can I just put them in an existing aged planted aquarium? what Parameters do they need as far as PH soft or hard water
A strange thing I had them I put them in a different tub w a mini aquarium heater and they grew full size from one of the kits
Tell darth vader to sit out the next video
They're so weird and I love them to death.
dude im jealous such a big tank so many triops ur the men dude :D
When they are digging they’re going to lay their eggs 🥰. Burring them in the gravel or sand 😉
Two weeks ago I'd never heard of triops. Now I'd like to have a breeding pair.🤔 Wait a sec! How do they reproduce and how prolific are they? How long do they live, and what happens when they die?
Have you ever seen a red nauplli? I'm hatching some eggs i bought and there is one red and eleven or twelve normal ones. It could be something else entirely but it wil take a couple of day's to know.
Maybe someday we can al keep our very own Kabutops ☝️ Keep breeding until they mutate and evolve? 🤔
R rhey related to whoreshoengrabs?
Kaputops
nom nom nom nom
do you think chlorella or brewer's yeast makes a good replacement for spirulina powder?
I read Triassic Pork Chops at first 😂 I like that term passive cannibalism! They are everything I would’ve imagined a Triassic Age creature would look like! I wonder if Trilobites had the same legs
That cauliflower attack! 😆crazy little triops
Looks like something off a horror film 😱😂
I had learnt that Triops are cold blooded creatures like Reptiles , eventually look like dinosaurs
Can a cyclops and a triops mate?
No i dont think so to be honest. Theory: the reproductive organs dont match, so reproduction between these species is impossible I guess :)
How do triops australiensis reproduce? Do they reproduce via parthenogenesis, hermaphroditism, or sexually? I can't seem to find any sources that can tell me one way or the other.
Heyo! My Triops Australiensis Green and Triops Australiensis Queensland are both hermaphrodite species. The Triops are basically always "female bodies" with eggs pouches and fertilize theirselves. No males are present and mating does therefore not occur. The eggs are always fertilized by the hermaphrodite "ladies" theirselves.
@@TriassicParkTriops Awesome! Thank you so much for the info!
@@TriassicParkTriops (My bad. This is the original poster of the comment. I just accidentally responded using my spouse's account instead).
Yo I need some help! My triops are creating this weird orange powder everywhere and they’re doing it a lot! Did I give them diarrhea?
Orange powder ? Are the orange specs, perfect little balls ? Are they roughly the size of the "dot" on a keyboard (. . ) ?? These might be eggs!
@@TriassicParkTriops I think it was poop because they didn’t do anything like burrowing they were just swimming around secreting it I think it was a direct result of the shrimp pellets that came with the pack I bought so I stopped feeding them that and switched to peas and carrots They still poop 24/7 I’m kind of worried about that
Do you have a site where we can order eggs and detritus?
I used to work by Email, Instagram and Facebook chatting only. This way I can trade by appointment and prevent "impulse" buying by those that dont know what they are signing up for. Currently my private life is "quite a mess" so Im unable to attend the shop/selling currently. I will be back selling again, but when is unsure at this moment. I didnt quit tho!
You are right, they are not a toy, they should ve sold only as a hatching kit.
Super awesome set up, I am going to guess you pull the girls just before they lay eggs
I know this old, but you thaw the fish out.
Yes, 100%. It does get smelly tho 😅
This awesome video thank you, I am planing on hatching growing and breeding my own triops.
I am just getting into them honestly. I am fish keeper, and more. But these little dudes have caught my eye. I have few tanks. I want to grow some up and breed them too, I have sand from my lake I have treated and I use. It should be pretty for the tripos I have. I only know I have what is labeled ghost, fast reds, and giants. Idk they are for kids. Where does one get legitimate triops eggs.
I would like to someday do selective breeding, to create the biggest triops.
They only live for about 3 months right ,or can a proper set up actually allow them to live longer
A proper setup will usually still "grant" a 3-4 months lifespan most of the time. They are temporary pool inhabitants in nature, and kinda simply made to last for a temporary pool rather than a long lasting pond or lake for example.
What kind of gravel bro?
I wonder if it is possible to breed for larger size.
So cool! My big Bertha just molted today 😊
🤔
How do you have so many? Dont they eat each other?
I boil and crush my carrots so my babies can eat them easier :D
what size gravel do you use in this tank? I'm looking to be able to siphon out eggs and scum to harvest and sand isn't good for that, but I also know that gravel being too coarse is an issue. So what would you say is the sweet spot? 2-5mm?
Welcome back bro. Sorry to hear about the health issues. Just want to say your channel has reinvigorated my interest in Triops.
How long do they live?
For about 2-3 months maximum. They are a different kind of lifeform, it is very normal :)
Do you take the eggs out to dry out before putting them back in the water to hatch? Wont all these just die in a few weeks if you dont do that?
Heyhey, Yes we have to dry the eggs prior to Hatching. This is due to the lifestyle of Triops in the wild. Its Aquatic, but season based as they live in temporary rainpools. So basically yes, the full group dies out every year. But when the hole they lived in, fills up with rainwater again, they will hatch and continue the process again. This is how they survived for over 200 million years 🙏
Ive had patients who coughed so hard that they broke their ribs, having seen it second hand I want to let you know that you went through something really difficult and that you're really strong! You said you ruptured your throat near your lungs - do you mean you had a hole in your esophagus, or that you had a "tracheotomy"? I know english isnt your second language, but I thought maybe I can help you find the English words to help explain it to people who ask again. Most medical words are pretty similar between languages because Greek, Latin, and German are used to make the new words, so if you were able to tell me what the medical things are called in your language, I could probably help you find the words in English. Im super happy youre doing well, you went through something super scary but you're really fortunate to have an attentive girlfriend and good access to doctors. I used to live in a really rural area far away from doctors and I had to drive an hour to get help for myself. Also, I love your shrimp! Fun fact, my friend's cat loves shrimp too - I had a tiny plush lobster (a small soft fridge magnet) and she kept stealing it and running away with it in her mouth, so I went to a pet store to find a similar toy for her. I found a toy shrimp the same size and the same red, and I got it for her and she is obsessed. She sleeps with it, meows at it, carries it around with her, and when I'm sad or sitting alone, she'll bring me her shrimp and set it down beside me. If she hasn't seen someone in a while, she'll put her toy shrimp in that person's usual chair. And she likes to watch little videos about shrimp! Your shrimp are very cool looking. Ive thought recently that if I ever got an aquarium again and had water pets, I would maybe try shrimp first. I haven't had any aquatic pets since I was about 10 - I had a pea puffer that I was very proud of, his tank was very pretty and he loved to interact with me, but our power went out in a bad storm and his tank suffered as a result, and he passed away. I was so heartbroken that I've been scared to ever have an aquarium again - but finding your videos has encouraged me to watch more videos by more people about all their little swimming friends, and it reminds me of why I loved my pea puffer to begin with, and why as a kid I always wanted a pet lobster! So if I ever get an aquarium, I'll definitely be considering shrimp or triops because of your enthusiasm! ☺️ Take care of yourself!
Whoa man, youre watching him undress! What would you think if you turned around in the bathroom and a triops with a camera was watching you 🤔
I really like that youre getting back to the triops since they make you happy. I've spent the last two-ish years without my hobbies because of my own bad health problems *and* worrying about my own dad, so i empathize and really hope you can get the breaks and comfort you and your father need. I think triops can survive, species can bounce back from a lot. Like you said, they're ancient - there have been a lot of bad extinctions and environment changes on Earth, and hardy creatures like triops always survive. With people like you who love them, they stand an even better chance to survive! Amphibians are one of my favorite types of animals and many species are going extinct very quickly because of humans and a fungal infection. But I remind myself that amphibians are ancient and survived basically every extinction event. Its sad that theres only one species of giant salamander left, but it doesnt mean that in the future, there won't be more giant salamanders again! Amphibians used to live like crocodiles, so maybe that shape will come back again. Maybe in a million years, there will be a hundred new types of triops, big and small, with a bunch of shapes and ways of living. I hope you and your triops have many good days ❤
Боже, какие забавные букашки! 😂 Наверное, все ваши гости не могут оторваться от этого необычного зрелища. Крутые питомцы!
Much appreciated 🙏
I was happy to know that I can use just boiled rain water I have better access to! My triops (cancriformis) hatched, they are growing and zooming around, they make me happy :) I will use the thing you do for tap water for the main tank, I hope they will adapt well and not die. Also, I'm curious, why some eggs don't float but go to the bottom with sand? And how already hatched egg looks like?
The eggs have a sponge like construction. Dried = filled with air and will float. Wet = Filled with water and will start to sink. If they are floating, its usually dried eggs ready to be Hatching. If they eggs have sunken, the hatchling might stay inside for another year/drying period.
I’m having massive issues starting my Triop tank. I only seem to get 1 or 2 to hatch, and they seem to die before they are big enough to go into a large tank. I’ve been careful with the ph levels, and keeping the baby dish warm. Which species are you breeding (and are they available in Australia?). I’ve been ordering from eBay and Amazon.
How long did she end up living? What an amazing little dude.
I was finally able to hatch triops and I have the proper equipment so now they won't die as much hopefully
Hi there, I talked to you not long ago on reddit. I was the first time owner with the 18 adults. Well, I also only have one survivor left. And noticed a spontaneous hatch as well. I caught them with a pipette and moved them into a smaller enclosure to make sure, that they will find food and that they don't get eaten by the big one. I have around 20 and they grow every day. I'm a very happy and lucky owner. Hope they will get big, so I can move them back into the tank again.
That's great to hear! Its fun when the spontaneous hatches happen, we also try to collect every one of them if possible. We did have different outcomes however, some batches did survive well and some didnt at all. Let me know how it turns out in a few weeks !
Im just on the verge of convincing my parents to get me triops!
Hey do you have a website where you sell these too?
