@@TriassicParkTriops I did try again. I have an aquarium set up, in it a heating element set to 24 degrees (for triops cancriformis eggs). Inside of a smaller hatching container both "bar le duc" boxed water and rainwater yielded similar results. No eggs have hatched in two weeks time :( I tried adding a floating plastic ring to keep them in the water, i tried changing the temperature to 25c, boiled tap water, with an aquarium lamp, without a lamp, in and out of direct sunlight, all with different eggs just in case. Nothing yet 😭 Trying again today with distilled water for hatching.

Hey, Bjorn! Great video, as always. Could a five gallon tank work for some triops? I hatched some triops several months ago, but sadly, I must have messed up somewhere, as they died after a few weeks. I want to try again, as they're really cool little buddies.
A 5 Gal should be a 17-18 Liters tank in our measurements. An adult Triops needs 1-4L of space to Survive-Thrive. 1L is fairly small and would have increased cannibalism to decrease colony-members in a too small space. 4L is more on the royal side, more is golden. In your case i would suggest to try to aim for 2-3 perhaps. I personally like these setups with a small spongefilter or nano-cornerfilter like in the video. Watching a smaller group is truly fun aswell but personally i would suggest to look for something towards 10-15 Gallons if you really want to keep a larger colony. 🙏 Thank you for watching, if you want to have a more personal chat, feel free to approach the chat on: Facebook: Triassic Park Triops Instagram: @Triassic_Park
What is the temperature of this tank? It's really warm in my apartment (25-28degrees), so I hatched triops longicaudatus. They seem to be doing fine. I also want to have some moss balls, but everywhere I read that the moss won't survive that kind of temperatures.
Tapwater ( dechlorinated, no heavy metal traces present, you have conditioners for this) for the tank, for a hatchery i sometimes add some low mineral bottled springwater
Thanks for the detailed explanations. This is really neat.
You're welcome !
I can get them to hatch no problem... now getting them to last longer than a week... great vid, nice set up!
I wish you the best of luck with your colony! If you run into any problems feel free to contact me on Instagram, Facebook or by mail if you like :)
Is the hatchery necessary
Ben je toevallig een Nederlander ?
back with triops! :D
Awesome stuff, still hoping I manage to get my eggs to hatch :)
I hope so aswell, keep me updated !

So is 50% of rain water and the other 50% what kind of water?
