Why are your triops flat shielded? How did you get that? Usually my triops are convex

      Question:
-Do you mean to adulthood ? > 12-16 days I would say
-Do you mean: Maximum lifespan ? > 2-3 months max. I would say

Deze komen uit eigen collectie, mocht je interesse hebben : zodra deze kolonie " voorbij" is, dan zullen de eieren geoogst worden en deels aangeboden worden aan geïnteresseerden collega-hobbyisten :)

Hello. I have thought to also have triops tank. But what bother me is that I heard their life span is so short, only 1-2 months. So what you have to do to make a triops tank keep going when the population in it keep dying? Do you have to replace the population quite often? What to do about dead bodies? Can we ignore the dead bodies to be eaten by other triops?
I want a very natural tank. A tank that have little interventions, and keep going like in the nature. The fish are breed, lays eggs, died, replaced by their offspring, and their dead be eaten naturally. Is that even possible?
Thank you to consider enlight me about this question. You seems the only channel that focusing on triops.

      Heyo!
Excuse me for the extremely late reply, but i really wanted to reach out to you!
Its true Triops lifespans are rather short compared to fish and shrimp.
This is due to their natural habitat: Temporary rainpools, where they thrive during spring and summer/ untill the pool dries out.
For that reason its kinda "unusual" to have a "permanent" waterbody like fish and shrimp have.
      The way I work:
      I setup a colony.
I let the colony grow up in peace.
When the last Triops dies, I harvest the tank for eggs and I reset the tank.
With the empty tank i'll start over completely from the beginning again.
I keep setting up and resetting the tanks for eggs. This is due to the necessity for eggs to dry out after a season. This also happens in nature, so I simulate that by harvesting and drying the eggs aswell.
I tried a "long term" tank, but its fairly hard to keep juveniles with the adults. The adults will possibly eat the juveniles.

@@TriassicParkTriops Thanks for reply. Really happy you replied to me!
I just got idea when waiting for your comment. I want to set up a tank that will dry completely when all adult are die.
So the aquarium need drain and fill system, controlled just by switch and facilited by already installed outlet and inlet pipe. So no harwork necessary in every repopulation.
After all adult die we will drain the water completely, so after several days all the sands and stones will completely dry. We can fill again the aquarium after that, and the new life will start. It's more mimic the nature : same place but seasonal flooded and dried.
The only problem will be smell from dead bodies of the last triops. No other triops will eat and clean them like usually. So closed aquarium lid by cloth or something that will filtering the smell will be necessary I guess. After the water refilled and re-wetted the dead bodies, those remains can feed the new hatchlings.
Or if we rich enough, get outdoor pond that have glass view into our indoor room. The view can be seen inside our house but the smell will be outside, even the dead body can cleaned up by ants or birds. Even more naturalistic ecosystem there.
Oh yeah, the new water that filling the aquarium should be "aged" it's mean we can take the water from other running aquarium, so the water already have necessary bacteria and biological filtration. Too new water can kill the hatchlings with untreated amonia from the dead bodies.
What do you think of my idea? Is that even possible?
