I really like that youre getting back to the triops since they make you happy. I've spent the last two-ish years without my hobbies because of my own bad health problems *and* worrying about my own dad, so i empathize and really hope you can get the breaks and comfort you and your father need.
I think triops can survive, species can bounce back from a lot. Like you said, they're ancient - there have been a lot of bad extinctions and environment changes on Earth, and hardy creatures like triops always survive. With people like you who love them, they stand an even better chance to survive!
Amphibians are one of my favorite types of animals and many species are going extinct very quickly because of humans and a fungal infection. But I remind myself that amphibians are ancient and survived basically every extinction event. Its sad that theres only one species of giant salamander left, but it doesnt mean that in the future, there won't be more giant salamanders again! Amphibians used to live like crocodiles, so maybe that shape will come back again.
Maybe in a million years, there will be a hundred new types of triops, big and small, with a bunch of shapes and ways of living.
I hope you and your triops have many good days ❤

I feel that! Lymphoma is rough, I appreciate you sharing with us. That can be a hard topic to talk about. In any event, I'm glad to see you back, and im glad to hear that your father is having some success with treatment. I never could get my triops to thrive, but I do have an overabundance of Endlers livebearers fish 😂

I am just getting into them honestly. I am fish keeper, and more. But these little dudes have caught my eye. I have few tanks. I want to grow some up and breed them too, I have sand from my lake I have treated and I use. It should be pretty for the tripos I have. I only know I have what is labeled ghost, fast reds, and giants. Idk they are for kids. Where does one get legitimate triops eggs.

Have you ever thought about installing the smallest filter for a nano aquarium, which would add water to the container and make a hole on the side of it in which you put a sponge, thus creating a flow and beautiful conditions as if they were in the water of a large aquarium. And for feeding live culture from jars with leaves. Look at Father Fish

Considered it, but i was afraid It might suck out the eggs into the maintank.
Tho, Triops thrive on fairly dirty conditions aswell wich is quite ironic. 🤣

@@TriassicParkTriops A denser sponge might be ok, like the sponge from the round air filter sponges. In any case, good luck, they are beautiful little ones

@@TriassicParkTriops could you put some sort of dense fabric or mesh over the sponge area to add an extra layer of protection for the eggs maybe? It would slow down the water flow a little, but it shouldn't slow it down entirely, and would be denser enough to not get sucked out, I hope. It depends on the mesh or fabric. I'm no aquarium expert but I know about making homemade water purifiers and respirators, so there are different materials that can make a layer to prevent things from getting to the sponge but would still help to filter.
