My family have been manufacturing, designing and selling stoves for generations. I started my own stove company at 21 and enjoyed a lot of success with it, until my wife got ill and I sold my company to care for her and our 3 children. I handed my company to my brothers and father and I now make videos about all things stove related and a few other projects just to keep you entertained. I've no idea whether what I make is of any use or interest to anyone, but I've always wanted to do it. I love making things and stoves are in the blood!
I'm very lucky to have a family with a good reputation in this industry, and I have a wealth of knowledge and experienced built up over generations, which enabled me to help thousands of people get the best product for them. My reviews are independent and as unbiased as I can make them.

Over the course of the next few months, we will release a number of shortcut videos that will hopefully help you find some examples of appropriate stoves (given your intended use). If you have any alternate suggestions then chuck them in the comments, because that too will be very useful to anyone looking to buy a stove that will service a particular function, or type of use.
Also, check out our website below for stove accessories, written stove reviews and stove spares like: glass, rope seals and fire bricks.

How to change the glass on your stove
Fantastic stoves, canny whack a Woodwarm.
got a question, lets say I load my fireplace at 11pm before going to bed so that I have overnight warmth. I guess at some stage at night, the fire is going to go down due to fuel and hence stove is running in less than optimal temperature. Wouldn't that cause the glass to dim?
👍
What about Esse?
0.1 % of what?
July 6th 2024 ....... I've just finished installing my Aire 3 in my off grid tiny house in regional Victoria Australia ........ absolutely works a treat. Very low amount of wood used for a full night of warmth where the temp outside dropped to -2C overnight. My tiny house is 10mtrs long x 2.4m wide x 3.2m high (inside) ..... heats in no time. It wasn't the cheapest wood heater by a long way but I wanted a heater purposely designed for TH's and I wanted high quality, not some cheap junky chinese rubbish
I have an old brick chimney. It didn’t have a fire place. I think it was for an old furnace. I need a steel liner down the chimney to the living room for a stove??
Boris Johnson?
No, definitely not 😆 I like your car though 👌
when are you publishing the test guys?
They’ll all be released over the next week.
I have been running the 9kw version of this stove for nearly a year now and with the slider in the middle, it runs gently but has quite a smokey/dirty burn. With the slide just 2mm to the right, nothing comes out of the chimney at all. Looking forward to you releasing the Firebug test and your side by side opinions.
I’m definitely a Woodwarm convert. They’re both fantastic things, but the Firebug is too dog! 😜
I’ve had a boiler stove in this house for 30 years burn 50/50 wood & smokeless coal, council fitted the stove & never had a liner in it, stove is now Leaking & needs replacing should I put a liner in as having had no problems although does smell a bit in the loft, any help appreciated ????
You need to watch this 😅 ua-cam.com/video/8reLtVuY8RU/v-deo.htmlsi=nbsYn2_-zLx-G5pF
Hi and thanks for a great review. This stove looks just what we want in our kitchen but I wonder if you could tell me how it would cope with a short chimney? Our chimney is probably between 5-6m in height. Thanks
That sounds fine, I had it on a 5.5m chimney for a couple years and it worked excellently.
@@TheTortoise Many thanks! It's ordered up now hopefully arrived Wednesday!
Is it 1 notch less than all glass or just this brand
I have tried it on all types of glass and never had an issue, so you should get on fine.
I’m about to line my chimney & was going to insulate it with vermiculite but now you got me thinking, I thought it might help stop it rattling around when you sweep it, also it’s not straight up & down got two 45 deg bends, oooh lots to think about. Thanks for your advice & plain speaking.
Love your enthusiasm for this stove and have been to see one. Does the multi fuel suit wood only or should I look at sudbury?
I’m actually testing a Sudbury soon, but this Blithfield was excellent in spite of the grate
What kind of wood stove efficiency are you talking about, heat transfer, combustion, high heat value, low heat value? It all pretty much confuses me and there are so many variables involved in wood burning.
😮 testing lotus jubilé 35
Wood is sustainable so planting more trees makes it a sustainable fuel, plus its less emissions than actually letting it rot on the floor making it a greener fuel imo 🔥
@@paulshaw4382 Nope. Wood burns a lot faster than it grows. Carbon neutral is a myth. An average log burner will use about 2.8 tonnes of wood in a six month season. How long does it take to grow 5.6 tonnes of wood? Ten years? Twenty years?
@@paulshaw4382 I use a log burner btw but I'm not kidding myself
@SteveHuntingdon still better than coal or gas trees grow better than waiting millions of years is all I'm saying.
I purchased one from yourselves, does a fantastic job. No mess and quicker than messing about with wet kitchen paper and ash.
Glad it’s working well!
I totally agree with your thoughts on insulation. The big push towards insulating all buildings will cause structural and health problems... Thanks for your advice. I'm about to have a wood burning stove fitted into a large stone chimney.
My electricity comes from wind and rain predominantly. Last coal station in Scotland closed in 2016 so power stations maybe not that "normal" any more. Wood is a good backup. Know a lot of people who had no power for a couple of weeks after Storm Arwen a few years back who ended up cooking on their wood burners.
I think across the UK 33% of power is produced by fossil fuels. But as you say it’s pretty low in Scotland.
Flueless gas fires are 100% efficient. So green.
If only 😆
@@TheTortoise Compared to heating with electricity in the uk, for sure. I know this isn't the place to discuss this.
👌 no worries.
Thats impressive 🤔

I have a hetta 45 multi fuel stove can I burn coal on it and how do I do this
Clean your stove out, open the grate, light your fire as normal and then start placing coal in the middle above the grate. Should all be nice and simple.
@@TheTortoise thank you
At last the dreaded coal stove is mentioned. Great review. How about cheapest multi fuel stoves that actually work review. Lol ❤ all of your recommendations and reviews keep up the good work. Best Mark
Good call! Thanks👌
Can't wait to see the review of the woodwarm phoenix
It’s definitely a fantastic thing!
😊👍
Oxbow …. Very low ash and burns hot👍
👍
I have 3 Merlin stoves, I burnt stove ovals and other smokeless coal, in the slimline, it was fantastic at it.... It would run 24-7 on a bucket of coal if it was not that windy outside.... I live right on the sea's edge and it can really blow!!! They are also excellent at wood burning..... Keep up the good work,👍
Merlin are good stoves, older models the log guard was a bit thin
I have seen the Merlin stoves and they did look a very solid thing. Glad to hear they’re also very effective!
Not one of the shops on the Internet explains this.
🧽✨
I put some water on a ball of scrunched up toilet paper or tissue, squeeze it out, then put one drop of washing up liquid on the tissue. With this, the film on the glass can be removed with a firm rub over. Another ball of scrunched-up tissue to dry the glass, and the job is done. I do this the morning after every firing of the stove to prevent deposits from building up. I have been doing this for years and with several different stoves, and have always had clean glass.
We was lucky enough to get one of these free from the stove installers,,it's brill. Never had to use it while burning logs but if i burn smokeless fuel,,then it's always used. I didn't no that it cleaned the hob though,,thanks for that one,,the days of using ciff on that are gone.
😆 My bad habits are spreading 😬
The sponge works, just one word of warning, if your burning anthracite make sure theres no shards of anthracite anywhere on the stove glass, 3:18 because if it gets between the sponge and the glass it. will scratch it
I wouldn’t of ever thought of anthracite as having a greater hardness than ceramic glass? I’ve not encountered this before, but thanks for letting us know!
Interesting. I have to say, we have a fire everyday in the winter, last winter for 6 months straight. Most just burns off again with a good fire? I probably clean ours 3 or 4 times in that period. I do use a cleaning product and some kitchen wipe. You do get some stubborn stains in the corners? I do always though, leave it open after to let it all go away? Flue is usually still warm so it evaporates anything left? Just the way I do it? I might try some of these.
Hi guys, Very interesting, so how do you clean the cleaner then??? Do you just clean it in the sink with warm soapy water? Regards Tony
Yea you can. I never bother really, but that’s my own laziness. I’ve no doubt things will work better if kept clean.
We have tried, its works, and it works really well, but the price is expensive... If u look around u can find similar type product, but much cheaper... Great Video 👍
They are very good do the job well 🔥
😅
Another great video- thanks. I’m looking for a cylindrical style stove for a corner setting in a large open plan room. Aiming for a modern design but also something that’s efficient and for “serious use.” Are these things compatible with each other?! Anything you’d suggest?
There aren’t many cylindrical stoves with serious use in mind, but how big is the room you’re trying to heat?
Yeah I thought that might be the case. About 120m2 - open plan kitchen and living room
Well the best I’ve seen is definitely the Scan-Line 900 given your intended use. There are lots more options with stoves on log-stores, but as far as proper cylindrical stoves.
@@TheTortoise that’s great- thanks
