      I mentioned to the C&J MD about letting you review a stove when I was at the factory last month, fingers crossed you get your hands on a Purevision next

      @@charliemacklin7017yea I’d like to try a PureVision. Peter seems like a nice chap, it was after I met him at an SIA meeting that they sent me the cooker!

      What year was it first introduced ?, my brother and my son in the UK seemed to have not seen it and both bought wood pellet cookers (very nice but they need electricity to work)?

      There are lots of thing’s similar to this, so these types of products have been available here for literally centuries. Products of this exact type have been more widely used for the last 6 years, but solid fuel range cookers have been around for a very long time.

      @@ayresr3no definitely not. In fact all the cooking smells get taken up the chimney. It works one way, nothing is going the other way!

    I wonder if you could use it regularly as your only cooker? and if it cooking has an impact on your bills?

    • @TheTortoise
      @TheTortoise  4 місяці тому

      It all has an effect on bills. But with regard to serious use, this’ll come down to you as a person. I grew up with cooking being done in AGA’s and Rayburn’s, and actually my mother would use an electric oven too (in some situations). Equally some will use solid-fuel cookers for primarily slow cooking, or boiling kettles, and everything else is done with a standard oven. The tricky thing nowadays is all you can buy from AGA is electric, which I have to admit, is definitely missing something particularly for the fairly scary money they want for one.

      @@TheTortoise Why does everything have to be expensive , sounds like the whiskey helped with the back , drinking it not rubbing it in .

    Do you know what the difference is between this one and some European models which have fireplace on bottom?

    • @TheTortoise
      @TheTortoise  2 місяці тому +1

      I do use a Bronpi Monza which is like that. The Bronpi is far less refined, but it is an older model too. Generally I find them fairly similar, though this was does take longer to get up to temperature. Most of the British versions are like this Go Eco, and I think these are perhaps the more serious use option. If you want quick heat in an oven then the Bronpi and similar are better. But if you want excellent control and serious use, then the long heating up time doesn’t cause an issue, but the improved control, fuel economy and efficiency do give serious users an advantage.

    Unfortunately a bad back comes with the job. I've had steroid injections in the spine, loss of feelings in the leg. 30 years of stove fitting doesn't help 😂. Hope it eases for you

    • @TheTortoise
      @TheTortoise  4 місяці тому

      Thanks a lot. I am (thankfully) all better, but it was pretty bad for 3 days 😬. I hope you’re on the mend too, I know too many people with stove related lifting injuries. In fact I’ve just released a sack truck of our own design, that does make moving stoves significantly easier, for this very reason.
