Lines Per Inch (LPI) in Laser Engraving - Master this setting!
Someone told me the only time you need this is with oozing type filament like PETG, other filaments actually don’t benefit. Can you confirm this?
@mrmidnight32 The cooling at the nozzle is highly important for overhangs, but you need to have your fans speed settings dialed in as well. If your filament is oozing, you probably have temperature or other problems.
Only thing i need is at least two print heads. And both can use AMS? :)
@@130lexa That would be great!
i want to get the a1 because it is cheaper. but i have put my previous printer in an enclosure for temperature stability. I've heard that the a1 doesnt have a cooling fan for the internals so it is not recomended to use an enclosre.Wwhat should i do?
That is correct. Bambulab does not recommend putting the A1 in an enclosure. If you want to print with filaments that require more temperature stability then I'd recommend the P1S or X1C.
Great info thanks for sharing the tips
Thank you!
Hey everyone,i've got an X1, a MK4, an SR, and a V400, and I'm working on some small order production, the A1 is mainly for multi color prints, while the others handle single color batch orders, they all work really well together, and it's definitely a great setup, just wanted to share my experience and say keep up the good work
@@josephqcv Awesome!!
Thank you for sharing your must print list I will definitely put these on my list once I order my P1S.

Hi, I may have missed it, but can you provide a link to purchase that rotary and it's accessories? ?
I bought my rotary from Omtech - omtechlaser.com/products/4-wheel-rotary-axis-lra-gl49-00 and the clamp is available here: bladesandbeams.etsy.com/listing/1375252960
I just use a cardboard box for the poop. Lol. And I didn't bother printing the bearing covers since they are sealed. Plus I don't use the ramp cause I just vacuum my x1c out.
@@brucehirsch5437 All valid! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Hey look, it has the same linear rail system on the x-axis that I added to my Creality Ender 3 v 2 for $8! And it has the exact same dual z-axis (wrapped in ejection molding) as my Ender 3 v 2 that I added as an upgrade -- except with it, I can have those motors and such closed off and epoxied. Also, when things are covered with injection molded plastic, I have to think there are some plastic parts in there. Reminds me of a microwave -- and the fact folks refer to it glowingly as an "appliance" and not a "machine" I guess makes sense. And, no, I am not a fan of any specific brand. I love people getting into 3d printing and if this is the entry, then awesome. But this printer sells for $399 because they cut a few corners to get there.
@@christopherorman5769 I appreciate your thoughts.
Nice video, its good to see videos that aren't spamming the internet with the same information. When I got into laser engraving, everyone was focusing on cutting boards, glassware, tumblers, and other stuff that has so much competition. I think this was very helpful with thinking outside of the norm and finding ways to create products specific to niche markets. I also like how you incorporated both of your lasers and your 3D printer to create this too. It really shows you can do so much when combining different tools and that's something I don't think about when trying to create a product. The Lightburn thing was really good to know too! I didn't know that changing different colors automatically had them show up as a different layer in Lightburn. I usually do solid color engravings but this was very helpful for me because in the past I would just add the file and manually change the artwork to a different layer.
Thanks my friend! It definitely helps to narrow a market in order to reduce competition. No only if I were more creative!! Haha!!
Thanks so much for a throughout review - this video helped me make up my mind! While I really wanted a P1S, I have a one bedroom apartment. The living room serves as my office during the day, and the dog sleeps in the living room at night. I catch myself thinking I'd find ways to make the P1S quieter - but the whole reason I'm looking into a Bambu is so that I spend less time tinkering/modding (Have a modified Ender 2 v2, and a heavily-modified Ender 5 Plus, turned Mercury One.1).
I'm so glad I could help you decide between the two printers. I was printing on my A1 today, and I had to go check to make sure I started the print because it's so quiet 🤣
Brother, I live in Saudi Arabia and don’t have much investment. Do you think 3d printing is a good enough model to start earning money?
If you can find a product that sells, it can definitely be a money maker. Finding the product, design, and marketing are the hard parts.
very informative video...thanks for it....but I can´t find the download for the wooden board...can you give me a link, please?

Nice factory, boss!
@@marty4286 Thanks!
My favorite accessory is a poop bin. I had tried a few but didn't like them much. And the cheapo cardboard box behind the machine was too difficult to remove without dumping. The current is ramped with a removable tray on the side of the machine. And the ramp hooks under the machine and around one foot to keep it from moving at all. Makes for a super fast cleanout when full! Like why did it have to dump out the rear? And why did I choose to place it against a wall in a corner? I will never know.....
That sounds awesome! Can you post a link to it?
Worst ever. No news value whatsoever. Poop shute, Bambu scraper, ... really ? Maybe you should have cut the piece struggling with the glass plate out of the video.
Thanks for taking the time to comment.
@@StefaanVandevelde you can always start your own channel and make your own videos about printed parts for the P1S. There are more and more people getting into the Bambu eco system and some people only like watching more recent videos. I think doing a refresher in his own style and with prints he actually uses is a great idea. Maybe next time you could just skip the video without commenting.
@@jmp7624 WTF, is there a new rule that you can only comment on UA-cam video's if you're a content maker yourself ? Yes, I am in the Bumbu eco system big time. I design in Plasticity and Onshape and watch a lot of video's about 3D printing and designing. The UA-cam algorithm proposes them to me and when I like them, I give a thumbs up. This one I wished the algorithm hadn't proposed it as I find it not very well made and lacking originality. When I go to a restaurant and get a good service, I give a positive review on Google Maps. When I get a bad service, I leave a not positive review. Not ever before been cancelled after 361784 views, in what way are video’s different ? @@StefaanVandevelde No knew rule just saying if you think you can make better content then go right ahead instead of bashing someone else for actually providing helpful info even if it didn't help you. And no one cares about why you watch youtube videos so I'm not sure why you brought that up. And your argument about leaving reviews at restaurants is irrelevant. You are paying for a service or being ready to spend money at that point, commenting on a youtube video is completely different. Your comment biased and unneeded. If you dislike something, point out ways to improve it without being a dick.
Immediately ordered the LEDs and waiting on them to arrive. I have an unrelated question for you, though: I have the OMTECH AF-2435-80 and Im puzzled how exactly the "autofocus" works. I've used it a few times and it always sets the same distance from nozzle to worksurface, and it's about an inch, probably 24mm. Does that sound right to you? That's way higher than most other videos on UA-cam show the correct focal length to be (usually 5-7mm).
I don't have the autofocus version so I'm not an expert on how it works. The distance from the bottom of my cone to the work surface for my lens is 18mm (verified by ramp test). My understanding is that you should be able to set the distance (and fine tune) those settings. Here is a video from Bearded Builds Co that explains the process: ua-cam.com/video/axDyrARXdjw/v-deo.htmlsi=WOvXy6Ez55affhpr

Thanks for the no-nonsense review. I'm having a hard time finding anyone that doesn't recommend the A1 for a first time 3D printer. I've been watching from the sidelines since the early 2000s when things were pretty bad compared to now. I'm an engineer but I don't really want to fiddle with the printer too much unless I want to. Someone said that Bambu Labs is like the Apple of 3D printing. That resonated with me. Normally Apple is pretty good but the last few years have been dicey.
I am the same way. I used to enjoy tinkering and didn't mind spending hours to get something to work. When I decided to buy a 3D printer, I asked around and eventually bought a Prusa. They make great printers, but they still require work to get them dialed in. The Bambu printers take care of all of the dialing in for you. Quick unboxing, a few setup procedures and then the printer takes care of the rest. You can still make mistakes (like I did in the video), but they really do make it easy to get great prints without having to be an expert or have years of 3D printing under your belt.
Great video, I love anything related to functional and useful prints! Some of these have been so helpful for me personally too and the others would be helpful too if I had a different setup where I could use them. I really wanted that AMS riser but since I have my printer on a shelving unit, the AMS already hits the top shelf when trying to get filament out. The drawers, added plate holder, and best of all the glass top holder makes it so worth printing. I hate having to leave the door open and worry about that glass getting broke so opening the lid is way better. The plate guides and the desiccant pods have been a game changer as well and I always recommend them to my anyone with a P1S and AMS since you let me know about them. I haven't printed the Bambu scraper yet for the same reason it took you a while to. I was afraid it would tear up the textured bed but I'm going to print that right now! That would work great with any printer. I'm also super happy that you added and enjoy the AMS buffer release I designed! There are other separate tools that could be printed but I was afraid I would lose them and the others require you to add before installing the AMS so I'm glad this worked as well as it did after designing it. It really means a lot to add it to this list too!
Hahah! I printed the scraper straight away, but it scared me. It wasn't until I'd destroyed all the 3d printed scrapers and had some tough to remove supports that I broke out the metal one, and yeah, total game changer!!
PCBWay is the new Raid Shadow Legends.
PCBWay is way more useful lol
Awesome breakdown! My motor makes a TON of noise sometimes. It seems like it's when it's about to change direction. I haven't taken mine apart yet, so I'm not sure HOW it's changing the direction it rotates the spool, but I assume it's mechanical? Either that or a polarity change? I'm not smart enough for this stuff. Any idea? I mostly want to stop it from rotating different directions because the noise gets really annoying, almost like it's loading up and struggling, then the direction changes and it's quiet again for awhile.
That's wild! From what I recall, it should only turn in one direction. The motor turns the spindle and it's that eccentric part that causes it to only engage every so often. That's quite an interesting issue. It' not hard to pull apart and investigate though. Mine doesn't make much noise at all when rotating.
@@directedt3ch hm. yeah i'll take mine apart and get back to you. Eibos_official commented this on a reddit post: "To be more specific, it would rotate the spool one turn clockwise and then one turn counterclockwise. " So it's definitely designed to do it. FWIW, i just bought this. Maybe it's a new version?
@@directedt3ch I went through and opened it up. Lubed the gears. Tightened everything back down. I suspect there was some play in the shaft that holds the rollers together or the screw that holds the rollers+gear against the gear for the motor were the issue because it's dead silent now. Anyways, hope this comment helps someone else if they're having the same problem.
@skinnybricks Thanks! I'm so glad you fixed it and then took the time to come back and comment to help others.
@@skinnybricks That's interesting! I just turned on mine and it is only rotating clockwise (when I look at the right side).
Nice job! I love printing functional parts and these fit the bill.
I'm the same way. Always happy when I can improve the functionality of one of my tools!
1! ;)
Very Clever!!
Thanks for showing all the install details. I was surprised how inexpensive this mod is when I saw it on their web site. Definitely going on my upgrade list.
Thanks, very well presented and good overview. I thought about it long and finally decided for the P1Scombo instead of the A1combo just because of the enclosure and the enclosed AMS unit. Quite a big difference in price, but long term I'm pretty sure this is the better way to go, at least for my needs :). Now I'll just have to see if I also get the Panda Touch V1.0, I didn't see this in any review yet but it looks like a great addition :). Have to check it out. Thanks for that, also! :)
Thanks! You'll be happy with the P1S! It's the printer I find myself using the most. If you check out the rest of the videos on my channel, I do have a review of the Panda Touch. It's a great addition to the printer.
Dude… clean that print bed before starting a new print. Like for real are you new to this game?
Haha! It was pretty bad there for a bit. The beds do get a regular scrub down with Dawn and hot water.
Great video thanks very much it helped me a lot. I found by far the easiest way to put the board and the fan and the plexiglass back in the case was to have it all attached to the laser module and assembled with the spacers and screws first. Then just drop the laser module, fan and board through the top That way you don't have to worry about the spacers falling out of place.
That's great advice! Thank you :)
I've watched so many of these 3D printer videos and this is easily one of the best. Thank you for this!
Did you do the sound test with the firmware that supports motor noise cancelling?
Yes i did.
@directedt3ch thanks. The P1 is so loud. 10db more so double the noise.
I would be interested to know if the closed P1S is less dangerous to health? If the P1S uses a fan to exhaust the air from the enclosure and doesn't do it through a HEPA filter, I don't think there is much point in printing in an enclosure. I mean from a health point of view. I'd have the printer in a room, so the VOC fumes problem worries me a bit. The A1 is open, so has no protection.
That's a valid consideration. I've only printed with PETG and PLA, which I don't think have too bad of fumes. Some of the other filament types definitely can give off some nasty fumes. The A1 isn't suited for those filaments though, so it wouldn't be terribly wise to print them anyway.
@@directedt3ch Thanks for the reply! PLA is also supposed to emit VOCs, just less, but even that can be problematic for a print run of several hours. You mentioned in the video that A1 should not be put in a house. Is this also the case for a larger cabinet? Because the solution might be to put the printer in an enclosed cabinet that is vented with a HEPA filtered fan. Although maybe I could buy the P1S for the price difference and then it would be unnecessary. But from your video, it seems like the P1S is more cumbersome and harder to maintain. I wouldn't want to buy a problem printer.
@TerraMp Bambu doesn't recommend putting the A1 in an enclosure due to heat (it doesn't have any fans for the electronics). The P1S does have fans and is designed for the higher temps. It isn't overly hard to maintain, it's just not as open as the A1. I actually use my P1S the most because I don't have to worry about my filament getting too much humidity since the AMS is closed and I have desiccant inside of it.
@@directedt3ch Great! Thank you for help!
@@TerraMp You are very welcome.
Are the diodes really required in this configuration?
I definitely recommend them. They'll protect your controller from the current induced in the relay coils when the magnetic field collapes when de-energized. Those diodes are a lot cheaper than a new controller.
@@directedt3ch Thanks just didn't understand their functionality in this configuration. Why do they not include them already in the valve? Also I have watched many other videos to add air assist and none of those recommend this.
@@nickm324 It's not included because the relay manufacturers don't know what kind of circuit you are putting the relay into. You probably don't see it in other videos because they aren't aware of the risk to electronics when using magnetic coils. electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/110574/how-to-choose-a-flyback-diode-for-a-relay

This was one of the best from A1 reviews. All the main functions where introduced well enough.
@@tojuv Thank you so much!
Dude... that was TERRIBLE.... not the Panda Jet... your VIDEO. If you screw up your testing, then REDO the testing... don't just publish a half-assed video... we want to see how it does with the bridging test compared to stock... we want to see how it did on the overhang test compared to stock... the way you did this makes it APPEAR like you're covering something up. "oh, i did all these tests, but a screwed them up, so I'm just going to show you the one test where the Panda Jet had a barely perceptible improvement"
@johntetreault I appreciate your feedback. The other two test results were pretty much the same. Very little difference in the overall results between the stick and the jet. I did the final test to ensure that I was giving the jet a fair shake. Neither the stock or the jet had any problem with bridging.
@@directedt3ch problem is, I've seen other reviews that show bridging significantly improved... So it sucks that you don't show your results

@@johntetreault Thanks!
Great video! I was really curious about how this one would work. I'm glad you took the time to reprint the tests instead of just making the video with stock settings. I am already impressed how well the stock fan duct works, especially with adding more cooling but I bet the new one will be better for bridging and possibly files with more overhangs. I also love different upgrades for these Bambu printers since they are closed source. I personally think the Bambu printers are some of the best printers completely stock but the tinkerer in me always wants to change things lol. I also wonder how well this would work with other types of filaments too. I now you are using PETG there but I wonder if ASA or ABS would perform any differently since you don't always want to add more cooling but maybe cooling in a different location would be helpful.
That's a great point! I'll be sure to see what happens if I ever venture out of the PLA/PETG land!
Absolutely brilliant - for a tech dummie like me I'm now full of confidence in setting this up myself, thank you!
I'm glad you found the video useful! Happy burning!!
Pretty sure they I read that Bambu may expand for the A1 to accept 8 rolls. Not that it's guaranteed, but that's the reason they have the extra port.
Where did you see that? I know the wiki and manual say that it isn't used. No idea why they put it there.... I can't imagine that head draging around twice as many tubes/filament, but who knows!
thank you...I will have a look
Great video, thanks for all your work on this. I have one question, is there a PDF or document with the schematic that is shown at 13:50 in the video?
Sure is! Here is a link for you - drive.google.com/file/d/1sC4ctiNll_7_mJaCT8SVlNJp6AFZ5CHQ/view?usp=sharing
@@directedt3ch awesome, thank you!
could be a interesting video...but you camera is way to far, so I can´t see the details, which you are talking about
There are several other videos featuring the 4 wheel rotary on my channel with better views. I appreciate your feedback.
great video! thanks!
You're welcome!
An upgraded light is definitely a must have for these printers and its amazing how Biqu is able to sell these so cheap. I did see a recent video of some random person getting a P1S and it looked like Bambu has upgraded the light on theirs. It was super bright on the inside and you could see the light coming from the stock light bar. I'm curious if you see any of the lights in the video feed being over the door though. I had played around with lighting position and I saw the led strip from the front when I installed the one I made. Great video though, they have been releasing a lot of cool stuff for these printers and its really refreshing how affordable all of it is.
Totally agree! I had no idea that Bambu made changes to the P1S light. My stock light was super dim :(
Stupid clickbait. I subscribed just so i could unsubscribe.
