I have two Bambu P1S printers and picked this up for my boys for christmas, The speed and print quality is basically identical to what i get from the P1S. I absolutely love this machine!
I have seen so many uses for the AMS! I thought I wouldn't personally want it because I had a printer that printed two colors, but Bambu's software makes it so easy to add color and the quality is amazing. I can't wait to order a Bambu printer, I really want a P1S with AMS and the A1!
I've had my A1 Combo for a few weeks now and I've put a lot of filament through it in that time. It sits next to my P1S/AMS and kitty corner to my Kobra 2 Max and QIDI X-Max 3, soon to be replaced by a K1 Max. The A1, in my opinion, is the finest and most-advanced printer on the consumer market available today. It is certainly the most bang for the buck. For half the cost of the P1S+AMS, it has 90% of the performance and feels noticeably more polished than it's older brother. I strongly recommend mounting the AMS above the A1 as it doesn't seem to have any detrimental effect on print quality. That's with the braces of course. I mounted mine up for the first print and it's been flawless since then. The AMS Lite isn't perfect, but it's a better design than the regular AMS as the filaments run on their spindle and not their edge. It's also easier to load the filament, but I find that cardboard spools and Bambu spools can go on the front when it's top mounted, but plastic spools are usually to big to say on and have to be mounted on the back. I never use the Handy app, but I'm sure there are use cases that apply. For me it's just Bambu Studio, which is a really strong slicer (father of Orca). It has its quirks but it's very capable and I do a lot of kit-bashing just using the slicer itself. I like your video, although as a new XTools S1 owner, I'm not sure I'm likely to watch your laser stuff. I look forward to seeing your future offerings!
Wow! What a wonderful comment to my video! Thank you for your personal review of the A1. You definitely have some experience in the 3D printing world! Thanks for the recommendation on mounting the AMS Lite too. For my workflow, I think the Handy App is just going to be used for monitoring and it'll be rare that I'd choose or start a print from there. The first time I tried it, the object I selected (the scraper they include the blade for) printed right off the edge of the bed. As far as the laser content goes, some of it may be useful (Like the LPI video) depending on your level of expertise there. Thanks again!!
The AMS is so useful for using up the end of the reel of filament, just put you next roll on the AMS as well and tell the system. It will then carry on with the new reel when the first is finished. Be careful to check at print time that the first reel to be used its the one with the small amount of filament on it. Also if you use colour carefully in layers, you get very little poop for a muti-colour print.
I received my A1 a matter of days ago. I love it. The quality of prints is incredible and it's an absolute speed demon of a printer. It was totally worth the $400 I spent on it! I may purchase the AMS at a later date.
It's definitely well worth the money! Glad to hear that you've also had very positive experience. I did my first multi-color print and now I'm thinking of ways to incorporate that ability into my business!
Great review!! I have watched reviews about the Bambu Lab A1 by about a dozen other reviewers. There are topics you brought up that the others never even mentioned. Count me as a subscriber.
Great review. Just finished putting my A1 together the other night and this really helped with the calibration. Just a note, when I was doing my calibration, the print head was stuck on the purge wiper. I had to remove the purge wiper and move the print head over and reattach it. The calibration completed fine after that. What was the brand and color of the poop bucket print? Turned out beautiful. Is that file on the SD card? Thanks and subscribed.
Thanks for the tip! The filament I used for the bucket is Emerald Green Silk PLA from IEMAI that I bought on Amazon back in Sept of 2022. It doesn't seem to be avaiable anymore. The A1 Purge Management System is availabe here: makerworld.com/en/models/91768#profileId-98168

Thank you so much for the insights you provided! I'll have to try the tips you shared!

Why the captions at the bottom of the screen? It’s distracting.
Thank you for the feedback. I'll make subtitles optional in future videos.
You left a frame with your wifi password in the video, same for the QR
Thanks for the heads up! I changed them.
You can go ahead and yeet it to my house!
Hahah! This one's a keeper! :)
