Tom Muffling Techniques
If you ever wondered how to muffle a drum (or how to dampen a drum) this video is for you. I’ll show you the five most useful muffling techniques that allow you to not only get rid of unwanted overtones but also how to focus the attack and control the sustain of a drum.
From very minimal noisegate-like muffling with a cymbal felt to completely dead sounds by covering your drumhead with a kitchen towel. I’ll also show you my favorite muffling hack that will allow you to change the sustain of a drum in 2 seconds without sacrificing too much sound.
