How To Reduce Snare Buzz
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 сер 2024
- This is a really comprehensive video on how to reduce snare buzz. In the first part, we dive deep into possible reasons, why your Snaredrum could be buzzing way longer than it should and how to successfully get rid of this problem.
The second part of the video is all about sympathetic snare buzz. This means, that something else is triggering the buzz of your snare wires, for example a bass guitar or your toms. We test and discuss the most common ways to reduce sympathetic buzz and also debunk a so-called „drum hack“ that does not deserve this name at all.
Feel free to like, comment and share!
Please keep in mind, this video is NOT about how specific snare side tunings will affect your snare sound and wire response. They certainly do, but this stuff deserves a video on its own.

Really informative and useful! Probably the best I’ve seen on this topic. Muffling, tuning and just accept it.
Great to hear that! Thanks!
That was an excellent video! I rarely learn anything new from drum hack vids but this was a treasure trove. Thanks, J

Good to hear that, hope it worked out!
Great video! The only way I really got rid of it at quieter gigs is by using in ears, as the monitor was usually causing my buzz
That definitely helps a lot. Thanks for sharing! 🙌

Great episode! The room size and the dampening in the room will also affect the snare buzz.
Thanks! For sure.
Cool
So theres no recommendations for sympathetic snare buzz from other bandmates
You can minimize the buzz to a certain extent. But without that small buzz under the drum sound the whole drumkit sounds lifeless. It took me years to realize that. Just turn off the snares to check. Your drums sound tribal. But put the snares on with that little bit of buzz and the drum comes alive. Even the kick drum. So after you minimize the buzz, the best solution to eliminate the buzz is to FORGET about it. Make your ears accept it's part of the sound. All snare drums buzz. You just don't hear it in a mix. So don't try to listen to it. Just play. Even Dave Weckl's drum buzzes when he hits the 10 inch tom. Listen to his weekly live streams. You just don't hear it when he starts playing the kit. Just find the sweet spot where the snare buzzes least. Muffle and tune to find it. Then forget it. Don't even think about it. It will always be there.
Try cable snares. They snap and muffle at the same time. Go to Grover Pro Percussion or Patterson Snares.
Is this a repetition of episode 11 from "Sound like a drum"?
The wires are going to buzz. You're just going to have to live with it. The head vibrates and the snares buzz. You should consider playing electronic drums if you don't like the snare buzz.
Geil! Sau Geil, etwar!
haha. this comment is gold! 😂
Please next video "Snare bottom head - different tunings comparison"
Ha! This is exactly what the next video will be about, already sketched it out! 🙌
@@drum_hacks My excitement starts to grow from this moment. Can't wait 🤗

😅
put a half inch strip of tissue paper under the wires. scotch tape it on the reso head. you will lose a little a little bit of snare sound but it may be worth it with the reduced buzz
No great snare drum sound ever existed without some snare buzz. You kill it off your snare drum sound is shit.
I’m not going to change the Tom where I have it tuned to get rid of snare buzz . Learn to live with it .
Snare buzz is a beatiful sound. Please don’t reduce it 😃😃
😂
Say that when your snare buzzes for a whole 5 seconds after striking all drums…
@@nelsondrums5135 where would you even find that many limbs to strike all drums? 🤣
@@yuriselukoff lmao you know what I mean
Danny carey just turned his snares off altogether.
I'd fix it by just playing the entire set. Nobody will notice.
