Best Small EV For America? - Fiat 500e vs. MINI Cooper SE
Max and Ryan compare the only two truly compact electric hatchbacks on sale in the US (excluding the Nissan Leaf) - Fiat's revised 500e for 2024 and MINI's somewhat dated but still good-looking Cooper SE.

Tesla Cybertruck Ordering Process - It Might Be A Wait
Sweet🔥🔥
The Kia Niro EV doesn’t seem to have preconditioning. It has “winter mode” instead. So I guess this isn’t for all Kia’s? I also wonder whether the Hyundai Kona EV has preconditioning.
Nightmare.
I recently switched one of Audis with a tesla 100d in the extreme cold and it gets only about 33% to 40% of the advertised range and I don't think the rated range will ever be reached in the summer either. It seems like a waste of time. My modified S4 was just as quick. A regular A4 can do 600 to over 800kms highway while the model S might do only 170 to 400 depending on the weather. It is rated for 600 kms.
What about ioniq 5 car and byd models missing from this list ?
This is the worst to take out in snow, very slow to charge and discharges rapidly. Also, it you start heater range goes down drastically(30 miles sometimes)
Chevy Bolt should be optimal between 10% at the bottom and 77% at the top for average of about 200.2miles of range for the quickest charging time
Protect her at all costs, the world needs more optimistic people like Caroline!!
Kona ioniq and niro have issues with the motor / gear reduction unit. Good thing is this should be covered by the battery warranty which transfers to 2nd owners for 10 years 100k miles in the usa. Also niros are easy to find under 25k now.
Thanks, just rented, very helpful.
You received 2 battery packs at the cost of Tesla. There should be no arguments. 😅😅
I was waiting to see an example of charging at a DC fast charger. It is not the same.
Jabber jabber jabber. Just show us the plugs and sockets.
U talk to much
Check the coolant guys and fill it.😂😂
200-210 miles on a 100% charge is shit. It's 140 miles on a 80/10 rule. My Mazda 2 skyactive D can get 830 miles at between 62 and 69 mph. I get 60,000 miles from front tyres and 90,000 from rears. Front brake pads last 80,000 miles. Insurance is cheap and depreciation is considerably less. All for a car that cost $20,000. An EV will NEVER be cheaper.
Watching this after i just traded in my 2023 Hyundai elantra and got the 2019 chevy bolt for $300 out the door. Im so excited, i cant wait to the title so i can finally pick it up
i am guessing leasing the answer
ITS the TESLA CASINO gamble my daughter low mileage 2021 model battery suddenly would not charge under warranty she was given a replacement pack. This so called warranty work pack has low battery health worse then she had before degradation going down fast. BUT TESLA WILL NOT REPLACE HER PACK ! HOW DO I LIKE THAT! 2021 low mileage and you cant cross town! DONT BUY TESLA!
I shorted your guide considerably: 1) Pull up to EA station 2) See it’s out of service 3) Drive to a charger from a competent company
This guy doesn’t know a lot about EVs. Nissan Leaf uses the chademo port. Also Tesla has never had their cars come with J1772 adapters. Why would they do that. It would take money away from them because it would allow Tesla owners to charge at non Tesla chargers. Completely making that up
Would MUCH rather have the Toyota, all day.
Kyle, cold has a significant impact on level 2 charging. Now, it’s -7 Celsius with a windshield factor of -13 Celsius in Laval, Québec, Canada. In the summer, here, my level 2 EVSE gives me 11.1 kWh through my Ioniq 6 charger. Today, I got only 7.9 kWh… That’s a 29% drop in charging rate and therefore, it takes a corresponding amount of time more to charge my car back to my target SOC rate…
Thank you so much for this video!
All the IT work that goes into keeping EVs running at their optimum performance is never going to work for majority of the “normal” driving public. I don’t think people that watch these videos or make comments are “normal” driving public. Most of us are Nerds😂
Traded a Leaf for a ‘23 Ariya… Simply love it! Very quick and comfy.
22k now I'll be getting one in about 6 months
The guy in the glasses looks like Toby McGuire 😂
Hi, I'm new to Tesla, purchased a new 2024 Model X in August, & live in WI. When you warm the interior to 72 degrees and keep that temp on, does the battery pack heat up and stay warm in order to keep the interior warm? Hope that question makes sense.
I just got an S model a few days ago. You have to turn on climate control for 20 to 40 minutes in very cold weather so the battery warms up allowing the regen braking to work. The first day I did nothing and the car was just coasting faster than a normal gas car which would slow down quicker. The tesla is just so heavy that it keep going. It is the resistive heating that warms up the car and if the temps are not too low than the heat pump does it to save energy. Climate control will also ensure the door handles don't freeze up.
I think these are reasons why people do not want EV's.
I have the Tesla Rwd lfp battery. I try to schedule start time. And unplug at departure.
This single handedly has turned me away from purchasing a Tesla for good. Thanks for the information bud.
Ioniq38 charges very slowly, preheating does not exist for the 38?
The problem I see with replacing cells or modules is that checking the condition of the “good” cells/modules is like taking a “picture” at that point in time! And just like the bad cells probably failed on a relatively short period of time, chances are that others may fail in a near future! By introducing this concept of “remanufactured” battery packs, this issue is only getting multiplied. 😉
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you.
Main issue is the Batterie so I don't get your point or view and to be complete open about if it's a known fact that especially the etron base !
Depending on the type of road trip I rather rent a car
The car looks better than the model 3 imo; range is a little less, but it is what it is. right now you can find some 21s between 20k-30k range which makes it really affordable imo. however the closest service center is 320 miles away from me, ouch. So if the car needs to be services that is a negative for me especially not knowing how reliable the car is overall. Of course there are vw and tesla service centers about 60-80 miles away from me which is reasonable, but those come in at that price for older models and the newer ones being a bit more pricey.
I am surprised you didn't mention charging it before you leave in the morning (or anytime before you leave and the car is cold) as a way to get the battery temps up. For first generations leafs that is about the only thing you can do.
I enjoyed watching this video about your experience with the Model Y-it’s always interesting to hear how high-mileage EVs hold up over time. That said, as someone who doesn’t know anything about anything and is just some guy on the Internet, I couldn’t help but notice that some of your charging habits-like frequent charges to 100%, running the battery down to empty, and heavy supercharging-are known to cause faster battery degradation. These practices put a lot of stress on lithium-ion batteries, so it doesn’t seem too surprising that you’ve had some issues. One thing I’ve learned is that a battery isn’t a gas tank. You can’t treat it like one by “filling it up” to 100% and driving it until it’s empty without consequences. Batteries need a bit more care, like charging to 80-90% for daily use, avoiding deep discharges, and using Level 2 chargers whenever possible. These habits can really help keep them healthy over time. Honestly, I think Tesla’s warranty response seems fair here. They replaced your battery with a remanufactured pack, which makes sense-they wouldn’t replace a used pack with a brand-new one because the one you returned wasn’t new. It’s frustrating to deal with this, but it’s also a reminder for other EV owners to treat their batteries carefully to avoid these kinds of headaches. Thanks for putting this together-it’s a good cautionary tale for anyone who owns or is thinking about buying an EV. Hopefully, your current battery holds up better this time around!
6 kW would charge a tesla model 3 completely in 9.5 hours. If you stay at a hotel from 8 PM to 6 AM there's 10 hour gap.
I note that EV battery range really drops off in cold weather - by 15% from its average, so as much as a +/- 15pc over the year. For that reason I recommend getting one with a heat pump.
Why heater is not heating as expected and windows are fogging even if you off air circulation?
Too much information. My suggestion to you. Just show us quickly where you precondition. Less "middel talk" and more straight to the point. Thank you.
Okay Karen
Nobody is concerned about the battery recall?
Is it true they are going to allow full speed power to all non teslas starting 2025? Something about the V4
Great video! I pick up my Mach-E next week!
Black Friday 2024 I got a 2022 Kona electric Limited with 31,000 miles in excellent condition for $17,000 after the $4,000 credit. New MSRP was a whopping $42,500! I also have an ICE Optima, but I couldn't pass up the deal. My car insurance only went up $86 a month. I Level 1 charge at home and fast charge at a Blink station for .20/kwh.
I tried to drive 20km with about 25% battery and I am now stuck om the road
We picked up or F150 Lightning last week. Lariat, ER. Absolutely love it. Recieved my Ecogenix Tesla Supercharger adapter the other day and drove to a Tesla Supercharger and it worked perfectly!! Too be real we won't be traveling very far in that truck. But for county wide it's fantastic especially if you can charge at home.
